Birth family can be a m*therf*cker. And I don't need to say it twice. Birth family is also the most real, authentic, primal experience in the human life. Over the last 6 1/2 years, I've oscillated between being close with my birth family & not so close with them. Reason being; My spiritual awakening. Many listening can relate to this. When I first woke up, I was completely broken open & deeply sensitive. It made it hard to go anywhere or do anything. It also made it hard to engage in family gatherings. I was so deep in the shadow work. So incredibly broken open to my lineage that I didn't know what was up or down. After several years on my spiritual path & many shadow work sessions later; it became easier & easier to show up for family again. When I look back, I wish I would have given myself more grace & released the guilt of needing that time away.
