065: Daniel Levitin – How To Handle Entrepreneurial Stress

His Ted Talk “How to Stay Calm When You Know You’ll Be Stressed” from November of 2015 is scientific approach to being prepared for good and bad. From the perspective of a neuroscientist Daniel explains the reaction the human body has to stress, including the production of cortisol. High levels of cortisol contribute to cloudy thinking. Daniel Levitin proposes preparing for the worst moments and having a pre-mortem plan instead of a post-mortem review. Don’t make the hardest decisions while experiencing stress, have the important decisions made. If you are going to be travelling, take a picture of your credit cards, I.D’s & tickets and store in the cloud in of robbery. You have prepared and stored that information to refer to easily while under considerably stressful circumstances. Think ahead about conversations you might need to have.
