Old ways of thinking about patriotism are out of tune!  Dr. David Farmer talks about taking the old tune, modulating it, and ending up with a new key for how we live out our patriotism as twenty-first century US Americans.  Some thoughts and acts just can't be patriotic, no matter who thinks them or puts them into practice.  Healthy patriotism, which is in very short supply and rarely seen, may be all that can save this nation.  Old so-called patriotism is killing us, literally.  I'm a white guy who keeps saying:   Black Lives Matter, and that's one part of the new key.

All visible reminders of slavery need to be gone, but such acts will not remove the lingering effects of prejudice.

Police murder of George Floyd. Black Lives Matter. Barr attack on peaceful DC protesters. Hunker in the Bunker Trump. Trump using a Bible the Obamas left at the White House for his antic at St John’s Episcopal Church. Severe slam of Trump by General Mattis and other Constitutional patriots. Racism detected in the socioreligious DNA of this nation at its birth.

The Ethics of Reopening, part 2

Guidelines for re-opening haven't been put into place as power exercises, but rather for ways to protect the greatest numbers of people.  The reactions of those who choose to behave as spoiled children are disgusting and beyond self-centered.

Public speakers who have only one volume, LOUD, often are trying to manipulate their audiences.  Don't be sucked in.

The immigration crisis on the southern borders of the US, children separated from their parents, children neglected and absued in Trump approved and built concentration camps

Openly gay and professionally activistic, soon-to-be Sergeant Dante' Austin would have ended his own life a matter of days before the Pride parades began where he could see some of the positive results of his efforts in establishing greater safety and underscoring equality for all?
