I have seen a few Ted Talks(r) and they are truly awesome! I hope that through the grace of God, I might be blessed with the stage of a Ted Talk(r)!  Ted Talk is not my brand and Ted Talk has not approved this little venture. I in no way speak for the brand and they know not who I am. But here's to keeping my feet on the ground whilest reaching for the stars! I also do not own that saying! If it is I think I know what I want to bewhen I grow up! Lol... My first thought, "Sounds like BS to me!" About a year ago, when I was studying job descriptions using Indeed, I realized that people who call themselves Data Analysts as well as Data Scientists are doing the same thing I did back when it was hard. In fact, with newer tools those two jobs almost seem silly to me to even define. I had to walk to the library both ways, in the snow AND UPHILL to convert data arrays, text fields, databases back and forth. AND WE LIKED IT!    When I started brain-storming on a better radio show and a possible Ted Talk(r) in my future, I realized that sometimes you don't even know what you are. You know how you go about making money, but NOT WHAT YOU ARE, by nature. I thought of some old advice by Casey Kasum, "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."

Every March, the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) and its partners collaborate to lead Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM). On July 26, 1990 President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law. Each July is celebrated as Disability Pride Month in commemoration of the historic moment. I hereby dedicate this show to the DDAM, and in July, Disability Pride Month. My Uncle was injured at the tender age of 14, via a bicycle accident when I was in a body cast from a tumor that was removed when I was young. For a brief time, I too was unable to walk, and learned how to walk a second time. Uncle Girard was a quadriplegic for most of his life. He never walked again! But, as he would tell you, he wat not DISABLED. He was otherly-Abled. He was empowered through the grace of God and a caring, tender "caretaker" family at 1142 Hilton Ave in the small City of Utica NY in a largely Italian neighborhood called East Utica.  Girard earned the respect and love of the entire community, city and later moved to the Boston area where he continued to make waves. My Spotlight on Mental Health is evolvng to SpotLight on Disabilities, etc. Please join me as we celebrate disabilities, not shun them.  Uncle Girard was truly NOT DISabled with a DISability. He was a genius, my uncle, father figure and amazing dude! The Lord blessed you with so many OTHERLY-Abled talents on that fateful day when you were injured. The priest did a wonderful job as did your neice, my sister Sheri and your sister, my aunt Therese, but the priest missed one thing. He said you will look back at your wheel chair and walk through the pearly gates. No sir, with all due respect Father, Uncle Girard will wheel himself through the pearly gates, just as he wheeled himself through college, life... His wheel chair still with him.

Recent data suggest South India as one of the regions with highest suicide rates in the world. In 2013, 134,799 people committed suicide in India according to the statistics released by the National Crime Records Bureau. Suicide note is one of the most important sources to understand suicide, which may be beneficial in suicide prevention. Studies on suicidal notes from this part of the world are sparse. The aim was to study the themes in suicide notes that might be useful in prevention strategies. And that is precisely what I, Rob Thrasher, intend to do by discussion and learning about suicide notes. In this show I will play one of my recent shows where my guest reads part of the suicied note of her lost brother.  Help us raise funds.
