St Augustine's Mentone

In our final sermon on the bible's great love poem; the Song of Songs, we see how God understands that love and pain are often intertwined this side of heaven.

Is sex the ultimate way to love? The Song of Songs, a poem all about physical desire, answers this question in a surprising way.

What does God really think about sex? The beautiful love poem of Song of Songs lets us know.

Who is Jesus? He is the Son of God who pays our taxes and debts to God.

Who is Jesus? He is the Son of God to who we must listen.

Who is Jesus? He is the Son of God who suffers for us and calls us to follow him.

Who is Jesus? He is the Son of God who will never let us down.

This Proverb teaches a simple truth - our words are powerful.

Today we consider the prayer of Agur, "God give me neither poverty nor riches".

Our final Philemon sermon looks at the story through the lens of Paul, and considers how Christ's love refreshes our leadership and use of authority.

Part 2 of our series looks at the letter from the perspective of Philemon, and shows how Philemon's relationship with his run-away slave Onesimus is refreshed and reconciled by the love of Christ.

The little book of Philemon tells the amazing story of three very different men whose relationships are transformed when one of them becomes a Christian. This first sermon looks at Onesimus, a runaway slave whose identity is refreshed by the love of Christ.

In our final sermon from First Samuel, we look at the tragic end to the rivalry between Saul and David, brought about by a sobering fact - that in God's Kingdom, God will use those who are faithful and righteous, but remove those who are not.

In a tempting moment during David's wilderness years, we see that listening to God's wisdom will restrain foolishness and brings blessing.

Is it always best to trust God, or sometimes do you need to take matters into your own hand? The story of David's wilderness years shows that we can trust God to receive everything we need.

The wilderness years of David's story remind us that God upholds the heart of his people, so that like David, we too can sing even when suffering.

In our sixth sermon from the book of First Samuel, we see how God was with David during his trials, and are reminded that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In what may be the most famous story in the Bible, we see how we are called to glorify God by simply standing behind his chosen champion.

What does God require of his people and their leaders? Above all else, God wants us to love him with all our hearts.

What would happen if God's people rejected God? We find out in First Samuel, and see that once again that God's reaction is full of grace.
