With degrees in psychology, and in business, Dr Janneke Blijlevens is now Senior Lecturer in Experimental Methods and Design in the School of Economics, Finance & Marketing at RMIT University. Products, be it shoes or sunglasses are designed for a reason, not just by chance!

Yahov Ron studied fashion at RMIT University, graduating in 2008. In 2009 he spent a year working with Belgium designers AF Vandervorst based in Antwerp. He established his own business Paris 99 in 2001, combining his love of European vintage fashion with his own designs.

Trained in gold & silversmithing at RMIT University, jeweller Emma Goodsir established gallery e.g.etal with Ali Limb in 1998. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Flinders Lane gallery supporting contemporary jewellers from Australia and New Zealand.

In this episode of Talking Design, Stephen chats to Roy Tavenor, director of the RED Design Group. Tavenor was head of Marketing with Myer in the mid-1990s before establishing The RED Design Group in 2002, and is someone who fully understands the highs and lows of the retail scene globally. Architect Keith Westbrook is a director of Cumulus Studio, with offices in Hobart, Launceston and Melbourne. With the tourism boom in Tasmania, Cumulus has grown, designing numerous hotels and tourism projects.

Architect Helen Lardner started her career working with heritage architects Lester Tropman & Associates in Sydney before working with heritage Victoria. Director of HLCD, Lardner works closely with some of Melbourne's leading architects including Six Degrees and Kerstin Thompson Architects. Her passion and commitment for heritage comes through in this interview.

Jeremy Wortsman is difficult to pigeonhole. A graphic designer by training, he works across numerous art and design portfolios. His creative studio, Jacky Winter brings together some of Australia's creative talents, from graphic designers, animators to art direction. Originally from New York, where he has an office as well as in Melbourne, Wortsman works with advertising agencies and across the print media.

Few have had as much impact on the design industry as Harriet Edquist, Director of the RMIT Design Archives at RMIT University. After 10 years the RMIT Design Archives, she and her team have collected artefacts, textiles, objects and other documents that showcases the state's rich history of design from the 20th century, from architecture through to furniture and fashion.
