Leif is a likeable fellow, but he never wants to listen to anyone, and he always has to do things his own way. His father warns him not to go work for the troll! The troll seems nice enough, but the jobs he gives Leif are trickier than they seem. Leif will only succeed with the advice of a beautiful and mysterious maiden he discovers in the troll’s kitchen. Will Leif be wise enough to take her advice? And what will they do if the troll figures out he’s been fooled? A lively Norwegian folktale that goes to show that women know best! There are many versions of the story, where a chicken eats lunch one day, and believes the sky is falling down because an acorn falls on her head. She decides to tell the King, and on her journey meets other animals who join her in the quest. In most retellings, the animals all have rhyming names such as Henny Penny, Cocky Lockey and Goosey Loosey. Finally, they come across Foxy Loxy, a fox who offers the chicken and her friends his help. After this point, there are many endings. Depending on the version, the moral changes. In the "happy ending" version, the moral is not to be a "Chicken", but to have courage. In other versions the moral is usually interpreted to mean "do not believe everything you are told". In the latter case, it could well be a cautionary tale: The Chicken jumps to a conclusion and whips the populace into mass hysteria, which the unscrupulous fox uses to manipulate them for his own benefit, sometimes as supper.

My group for extended day worked very hard on this podcast over the last three weeks. This story is about a girl named Cinderella who had the biggest foot in the Kingdom of the Land of Make Believe!

Greetings, Class 2-211 has done it again! This tale comes from the Mbaka tribe, part of the Ambundu people of northwest Angola. In most of Africa—and in many other cultures worldwide—it is the custom for a groom to send a wedding gift to the bride’s family. See what you think of this podcast!

Class 5-304 enjoyed a read aloud of the book, The Circuit: Stories from the Life of a Migrant Child by Francisco Jimenez. The class thought this was an excellent book and decided to make a podcast review.

Well, Class 2-210 has done it again! These expert podcasters have produced another wonderful program. It is a Tale of Friendship and Freedom. Tim Tingle (Author), Jeanne Rorex Bridges (Illustrator) did a wonderful job on the book, and you really should look at it when you're in the library. The illustrations will warm your heart! By the time these 2nd graders become our seniors (5th grade), they will have control of their own podcasting adventures!!! Thanks to Ms. Laris who graciously supported students' work in the tech lab.

Hey! Class 2-210 back at ya! This time, students perform a reader's theater script of the popular Grimms Tale, Brementown Musicians. Sit back and joy!

Nafisha, Irene, Ryan S., Rashel, Ahnaf, Zakaria of Class 2-210 discuss how the five senses affect cats. Children were given a graphic organizer to jot down how various items affected their own senses. Afterwards, children were formed into Teams where they put all their ideas together, developed a script, rehearsed and recorded their podcast. At the very end, music was selected, with sound FX, of course. They worked hard, and are really excited about the outcome! Let us know what you think!

Ani, Helen, Saima and Yuka of Class 5-304 discuss how junk foods affect your health! They discuss the types of food two popular restaurants have to offer; but they also discuss hidden calories and special concerns customers should pay attention to! This group researched their topic very well, wrote their script, rehearsed, and selected their music. Give us a shout out and let us know what you think!

Jamie, Perciphany, Nazaret, Rifat, Shaik, Paula, and Vasili explore the wonders of ice cream! Great job!!!

Class 3-203 researched and wrote a play about the life of Delores Huerta, an activist who fought for the rights of migrant farm workers. Together with Cesar Chavez, they won the battle of discrimination, unfair housing, and especially rights of migrant children to receive an education. Ms. D'Angelo's class deserves a big round of applause for this wonderful podcast!

Class 2-209, ESL Students, were given a graphic organizer (family tree) to go home and with parents fill in. There were about 6 questions that students needed to ask their parents about their lives in America!
