That Millennial Life

Today on the podcast, Joe announces that he will be going on an indefinite sabbatical from the podcast and explains the reasons why he is doing so. Also, he offers his thoughts on the results of the 2016 election and what has happened in the zeitgeist since then.

Edward Barbini sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial life.  Joe and Edward talk about meeting in an improv class at Upright Citizens Brigade and the difficulties and anxiety associated with pursuing creative things.  Edward talks about the reasons he decided to pursue comedy and the experiences he’s had at improv theaters in NYC. Edward also talks about his college experience, studying Economics at Fordham University, deciding to apply for the current graduate program he’s enrolled in and how his educational pursuits were a product of his interest in counter-terrorism.  Lastly, Edward gives his hopes for the future.

Tom Salerno sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial life.  Tom has professionally accomplished and had to personally deal with a lot more than the normal 23-year-old.  He talks about taking some time off from college after only completing one semester at Rutgers University to take care of his father who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.  Also, Tom talks about being the youngest person ever to be elected to the Pequannock Township school district’s Board of Education.  Lastly, Tom offers his hopes for the future.  Also, Mostafa Elhaggar returns to continue the conversation about the sexual and romantic bias against overweight people.

Vanessa Tropona sits down with Joe and talks about her unique Millennial life. This is really the first face to face conversation that Vanessa and Joe have ever had; however, they still have their history.  Before getting into more broad conversation, they attempt to resolve conflict that they had in middle school and high school.  After that, Vanessa talks about a book she is hoping to write about her personal experiences involving her frustration with the societal romantic bias against people who are overweight.  Lastly, Vanessa offers her hopes for the future.

Dana Carrubba sits down with Joe to talk about her unique Millennial life.  Dana and Joe hit the ground running with conversations about the internet, OCD, Game of Thrones and the modern media landscape.  After that, Dana talks to Joe about a big turning point in her college experience when she realized she didn’t want to be an accountant.  She then tells Joe what led her to web applications development and how she finds it creative.  Dana also tells Joe about her dream to start a craft beer business with her father.  Lastly, Dana offers her hopes for the future.

Cameron Shapiro sits down with Joe to talk about his unique Millennial life. Cameron talks to Joe about having parents who never married and often lived in different parts of the country, dealing with being diagnosed with ADHD and having to take HGH because of entering puberty later than normal.  He also talks about taking a job at the Imrpov in West Palm, Florida after leaving college after two years, which inspired him to move to NYC to pursue comedy. Cameron talks about his experiences in NYC and how he managed to be accepted into the Institute for American Musical Theater.  Lastly, Cameron offers his hopes for the future.

Evan Samlin sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial life.  Evan talks about pursuing comedy since graduating college by doing stand-up and improv in NYC.  He offers his earliest memories of comedy and attempting to be funny and why it had such an impact on him.  He also talks about struggling with existential and spiritual questions throughout his life and how majoring in philosophy in college helped him to attempt to formulate his own unique understanding everything.  Lastly, Evan offers his hopes for the future.

Kevin McMichael sits down with Joe to talk about his unique Millennial Life.  They reminisce about making videos together in high school and Kevin talks about the reasons that inspired him to do so.  He then talks about the reasons he decided to not major in something creative in college, attending college in Boston, and being in Boston for significant occurrences such as the Boston Marathon bombing.  Kevin also talks about currently working in accounting and how he has continued to flex his creative muscles by writing and learning to play the drums.  Lastly, Kevin offers his hopes for the future.

Joe Kohle sits down with Mostafa Elhaggar to talk about his unique Millennial life.  The usual roles are reversed as Joe gets interviewed by Mostafa who asks Joe about the reasons why he started the podcast, how he started getting interested in podcasts, the evolution of his interests involving artistic things, how his life has changed since his dad became mayor of the town he lives and grew up in, what he would ask some of his creative idols and what his hopes for the future are.

John Vega sits down with Joe and talks about unique Millennial life.  John is from St. Louis, Missouri, or as he refers to it, the ‘Gateway to the West.’  He talks about what it is like growing up with a big family and how that allowed him to have more independence earlier in his life.  John also talks about the differences between people in the Midwest and the Northeast.  John also talks about how he’s personally managed post-college having to move to NYC for his job.   Lastly, Jon offers his hopes for the future.

Ben Saad sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial life.  Ben talks about a life-changing occurrence involving the police that changed his perspective and college experience following it.  Also, Ben talks about deciding to move across the country to LA after being presented with an internship opportunity.  He talks about what he does and doesn’t like about LA culture.  Lastly, Ben offers his hopes for the future.

Soren Jonzzon sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial life.  Soren, the former captain of the Quinnipiac University hockey team that made it to the national championship, talks to Joe about all four years his college hockey career and how he feels now that it is over.  He also talks to Joe about how he started playing hockey and what it was like playing on different Junior hockey teams across the country before college.  Lastly, Soren offers his hopes for the future.

Tammy Nguyen sits down with Joe and talks about her unique Millennial life.  Tammy talks about her Vietnamese culture and both of her parents’ journey’s of immigrating from South Vietnam.  Also, Tammy talks about how college provided her with important friendships and about how she manages to counteract the challenges of keeping in touch with friends after college.  Lastly, Tammy offers her hopes for the future.

Frank Porzio sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial life.  Frank takes Joe through a story he has told fully to only a few people prior to this: his personal experience with dealing with being diagnosed with cancer during high school.  He also talks about becoming cancer free prior going to college.  Frank also offers advice to recent college grads who may be in professional situations they don’t fully enjoy.  Lastly, Frank offers his hopes for the future.

Erik Huberman sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial Life.  Erik, CEO of Hawke Media, was recently selected to the 2016 class of Forbe’s ’30 under 30.’ Erik talks to Joe about how that honor has benefitted him and his company.  Erik talks about being involved with different businesses throughout his twenties and what led him to found Hawke Media.  He also offers some advice to Joe about how to manufacture motivation and navigate through the unknown of post-college.  Erik also offers his hopes for the future.  Also, Mostafa Elhaggar returns for a conversation about optimism.

Brad DePrima sits down with Joe and talks about his unique Millennial life.  Joe asks Brad about his journey in Los Angeles after graduating college.  Brad takes Joe through how landing a job at Fox’s ‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey’ as Neil deGrasse Tyson’s assistant led him to a job as a production assistant at Fox’s ‘Family Guy.’  Brad tells Joe about how after being a PA for a few years he was promoted to Seth MacFarlane’s Executive Assistant.  Brad also tells an amazing story about attending the Oscars.  Lastly, Brad offers his hopes for the future.

Charlie Doe returns and talks to Joe about relationships, the presidential election and the fear of getting older.

Brian O’Hara sits down with Joe to talk about his unique Millennial life.  Brian is one of Joe’s oldest friends; however, in recent years, their friendship has not been as strong as it once was.  Throughout this conversation, they talk about why that happened and where their relationship is at now.  Joe talks to Brian about how hearing of the recent passing of Brian’s dad helped him realize the importance of rebuilding their friendship. Brian tells Joe how such an unexpected loss has prompted him to try to overcome his fear of change.  Lastly, Brian offers his hopes for the future.

Mr. Keith Brady sits down with Joe and talks about his unique millennial life. Mr. Brady, who taught at Joe’s high school while he attended and still continues to, may not fully identify as a millennial even though he falls within the birthdate age range. Mr. Brady talks to Joe about generational family dynamics and what led him to education. He also gives his opinion on what he finds encouraging and discouraging about Millennials. He also offers financial and broader advice to people in there twenties. Lastly, he offers his hopes for the future.

Mostafa Elhaggar and Kyle Veltre sit down with Joe and return to that Millennial Life.  Throughout their conversation they talk about their naïveté about politics and the role a government should play in society, what two people they each would want to have accompany them on a yacht, the significant checkpoints in life they each are most anxious to encounter, why they think parents love their children so much and why they think podcasts are so great.
