Episode in
That Newport Show
Are you one of those people who wished her hair grew faster just so you could go to the salon more often? I am. In fact, going to the salon is one of my favorite things to do, and not just because I come out looking better than when I went in. I come out FEELING better than when I went in.
It all has to do with the art of conversation. When you’re sitting in the chair chatting with your stylist, you are, in that moment, both on Team You. Together, you and your stylist are there to help you look and feel better about yourself. And unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you have to agree that women in our society need lots of opportunities to feel better about themselves.
In today’s episode, my guest host is Lily Jeovanna of Lily + Lion salon in Newport, RI. Lily and I are going to talk about what it means to partner up in such a fun way, and why she loves her job so much. Listen in!

Newport is a small community with a large reach. People and businesses settle here because of the city’s charm, coastal location, and sophistication – without the congestion of big city life. This means we have a lot of top-notch local talent.
Helena recently spent an evening at Parlor on Broadway, talking to a group of professionals who were interested in podcasting. She was surprised by a number of things at this gig – things that came right up against her attitudes about Newport, networking, and even herself. EP 109: No Gas Newport
Episode in
That Newport Show
We yankees may have a reputation for being standoffish and hard to reach, but once you break the ice, we’re friends for life. This has become painfully clear this past week in Newport, where friends and neighbors in the city by the sea are struggling with no heat because our natural gas provider, National Grid, experienced an equipment failure that left almost 7,000 homes and businesses without heat. Instead of bringing Newport to a grinding halt, the challenge brought out the best in Rhode Islanders. In this episode, we offer a neighbor’s view of the National Grid No Gas Debacle. Listen in!
