Sea Turtles: Promises and Threats: SDG#14: Life Below Water

This episode holds a special place in my heart; it's one of my absolute favorites. The reason is, it delves into a subject I'm deeply passionate about: turtles. Throughout our conversation, Caro enlightens us with a wealth of captivating and essential information about these fascinating creatures. What truly makes this episode remarkable is our focus on two Sustainable Development Goals: Life Below Water (SDG#14) and Climate Change (SDG#13). We draw insights from the thought-provoking article "Sea Turtles: Promises and Threats" by CITES, allowing us to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges turtles face in their environment. In particular, Caro vividly illustrates the various threats and dangers that turtles encounter in their natural habitat in Costa Rica. It's both eye-opening and disheartening to learn about these challenges, but it also emphasizes the pressing need for action and conservation efforts. For those with a shared interest in biodiversity, nature, and animals, this episode is an absolute treasure trove.

Spielberg’s West Side Story shows us the value of multilingualism

In this episode podcast, Roberto and I discuss an opinion piece by Ching Ching Tan, "Spielberg’s West Side Story shows us the value of multilingualism." The article centers on the use of the term "nonnative speaker" and argues for a more respectful alternative. Tan suggests that using the term "nonnative speaker" is demeaning and invalidating and instead proposes using "English learner" or "multilingual speaker" as a more appropriate description. The article argues that the current term perpetuates the idea of English as the norm and doesn't reflect the speaker's identity.

Are you curious about what makes a job truly satisfying? In this podcast, Jose and I explore this question by discussing the compelling article "There are 6 types of workers, this study says. Which one are you?" by Charlotte Edmond which is about the changing definition of a 'good job.' We delve into how the traditional concept of an 'average worker' is becoming irrelevant in today's dynamic workforce, and how companies are starting to better understand and cater to different employee categories. With the current trend of the Great Resignation, it's more important than ever for companies to recruit and retain employees effectively. We share insights and examples from the article and real-life experiences to help shed light on this timely topic.
