The Bob Doyle Show

Welcome to the ever-awkward first episode of Uke Noodles! All first episodes of podcasts seem to have one thing in common. And that is, that they sound nothing like the 10th episode of that same podcast. This is the awkward introduction phase between the two of us. Who is Bob Doyle? What is a ukulele? What are you doing here if You don't know what her ukulele is? What can you expect from this podcast? Well, whatever I tell you on this first episode may change so much over the coming weeks that it might just be laughable. But it's a starting point. This program is an exploration into creating a stronger connection with your ukulele as a form of personal self expression. I just made that up, but it is exactly what this is about. So I'm ending this description right here.

How can all just be covered in one podcast? We are one. Collapsing highways. Drinking at brunch. Air conditioner noise. Storage units. Folks it's a riff-fest on numerous topics. And sorry about the car noise. I'll try to be more uncomfortable next time.

Look, we may as well face facts. This is a show that is going to be a hodge podge. Oh sure, I'll talk about ukuleles a bit. You may hear some sea lions. My brain is broken. Popcorn.

So when the Aliens either land or come out of hiding, what if we find out our planet has a totally DIFFERENT name to literally everyone else in the Solar System? In that situation, what color shirt does one buy? Let's discuss with a pie chart.

Well, I guess it's about time I talked about some of my old jobs. So… I guess I'm going to do that.

So I'm on a cruise. And I've got this phone. And I'm not afraid to use it.

Ok, I'm not really going to spend a whole show about jury duty...but it's been awhile - a LONG while - since I did a podcast, and why I just figured, "Let's do it! We had a big day today!" How was it a big day? Well, I guess you'd better listen.

Given how laborious it is to begin a podcast, it's amazing any of these get done.

Today, we are joined by the lovely and talented star of stage and screen, Lynn Rose! And since Lynn and I were doing podcasts before MY podcast was even out of diapers, I thought - hey, let's do the old show on my show so it can be our show (even though it's my show.) So here we go...

We've got so much going on HOW is it that I haven't done an audio podcast lately? Well, that changes now! Well, technically it changes in a few minutes from now for me, because I still have to start the broadcast, but for YOU, it's already happened. More time travel. Speaking of time travel, I've been meaning to talk to you about that...

Not only are we just due for a show (I can't believe the number of complaints I've gotten - but HEY! I've got stuff going on!), but we've had some goings on in the VR department, We've made some new ice cream, and why I almost didn't do this podcast.

You know how when you're doing a live Internet show and it feels like everything is falling apart? You know when it seems like every moment of silence is like an hour? You know how you plan something that you think will kill and instead it dies...which is something of an opposite of kill. Actually, there's probably really little more than a causal relationship between the two words. Not sure why you chose now to bring that up, but ok. Well, tomorrow is the 40th Episode of the Bob Doyle Show (not the podcast, the SHOW...you know, the one at bobdoyleshow.com?) Now I know you are all in a tizzy because Saturday is my birthday! I don't know how that got out there, but obviously SOMEONE has a big mouth, and now it's all I'm hearing about. But I'm sure I don't have to tell you about THAT! So there's 10 minutes we save right there. So what is this Episode about? Well, I'd TELL you, but I really just need to start DOING it. I don't have time for both!

Look, don't get all up in my grill because this may not occur to you as the first episode… Just because I've done several others. This is the first episode since deciding to do these as official companion programs to the online video version of the Bob Doyle show. Like all Bob Doyle show early programs, this is of course a test broadcast. It's been FOREVER since I've done a Spreaker podcast, and I just found the app on my iPad and thought, "let's go live an see what happens." When I did the show before I NEVER had a live listener.
