Squadcast/Lightning Round Podcast Crossover

One half of each of the two Chargers Podcast juggernauts, John Gennaro from the Squadcast and Garrett Sisti from the Lightning Round Podcast, join forces for this crossover Podcast. The two worlds collide to discuss Laremy Tunsil at pick #3, what RG3 means for the Browns at the pick before and also a brief discussion on the location of the stadium. They riff on why the name “Convadium” sucks, try to avoid talks on gay and race relations, reminisce on the best crossovers in TV history and also how they became Chargers fans. They both will return next week to their own shows but for now enjoy the conversation.

22: Ben Higgins is your new ‘Bachelor’

Have you guys heard the news yet? Ben Higgins has been selected as the next contestant on The Bachelor! Which is particularly interesting considering he’s already married and has two sons already. Bah, who am I to judge? The 2015 NFL season is slowly inching closer and everyone is assembling again, dusting off their equipment, adjusting things, and getting ready for the show. In what has felt like forever, during what feels like the longest offseason ever, John and Ben are back to tickle your ears with their Chargers hot takes. Our fearless heroes start things out with a quick recap of the Chargers’ tumultuous offseason before looking ahead to the 2015 season. Each of them described their “best case scenario” and their “worst case scenario” for the upcoming season, before handing out roses (Bachelor style!) to the most important players on the team this year.

21: Super Bowl or Bust in 2015

Well, that was a fun run while it lasted, wasn’t it? After an exciting run-up to the final game of the season, members of the Chargers and fans alike were collectively let down on Sunday after the Chargers dropped the final game of the season to the Kansas City Chiefs. The loss kept the Chargers out of the playoffs for the 4th time in the past 5 seasons. But, don’t let that get you down. The season might be over but that doesn’t mean we have to be sad! John and Ben find reasons to be optimistic and keep things upbeat. So, join us and let the healing begin. A couple of things to note: Ben is sick so his voice may sound a little off, and this will be the final BFTB Podcast for a little while. We’ll be firing up the microphones again soon so keep your eye’s peeled for new episodes in the near future! If you can’t get enough Chargers football, be sure to join Ben Higgins on the Bolts Brown Bag, every Monday at 12:30pm Pacific. Topics Covered The Assault at Arrowhead What happened? Keeping with what works, John and Ben start things out by recapping the game against the 49ers. A discussion of whether or not Looking ahead, the talk turns to potential playoff opponents. Wrapping things up with a nice bow on top, our podcast ends with a preview of and predictions for the upcoming game against the Chiefs. 19: The San Diego … Raiders?!?

Ben and John got a chance to stop and breathe after last week’s marathon podcasting session. The Chargers are coming off their second loss in as many weeks, but that’s not bringing John and Ben down. This is an upbeat podcast with some great discussion. Topics this week include: Recapping the Broncos game and what went wrong Whom to keep and who can go as the Chargers their offensive line The Chargers’ path to the playoffs (it’s not all bleak) The Raiders are moving to San Diego? Previewing Saturday’s game against the 49ers in San Francisco Trust me, this is a good one.

18: The LA Chargers? (Part 2)

And now for part two of our BFTB podcast double-header! You heard them tease it in Part 1 of this week’s Bolts from the Blue podcast, John and Ben begin part 2 by expanding on the possibility that this is the last home game at Qualcomm Stadium for the San Diego Chargers. It’s not an easy prospect for fans to accept, but one that must be discussed. The idea of the Chargers moving to Los Angeles isn’t a new idea by any stretch of the imagination, but this time it feels different; why is that? Bringing things back into the present, John and Ben turn their attention back to the upcoming showdown with the Denver Broncos on Sunday, wondering what the Chargers need to do differently this time. And things get wrapped up nicely with their predictions.

18: Who should be fired? (Part 1)

John and Ben have a lot to say this week. So much so, that we had to break this week’s podcast up into two separate episode. Double the pleasure, double the fun! In Part 1 of our adventure, our two heroes start things off by breaking down the Chargers’ loss to the New England Patriots. They find themselves realizing that the Chargers were completely outmatched by the Patriots, both in coaching and in the players. Mike McCoy is taken to task for this game, and then John and Ben decide to move on quickly from the game and look ahead to the future. With the regular season drawing to a close already, attention turns to the playoffs and just what are the Chargers’ chances of making the playoffs. Would a 10-6 record be good enough? Moving on, what changes should the Chargers make in the offseason? Are any coaches safe on this team? Does there need to be some changes? Find out, in part 1 of this week’s Bolts from the Blue Podcast.

17: Tom Brady is a Very Good Quarterback

John and Ben are back to bask in the glow following the Chargers’ come-from-behind victory in Baltimore. There was plenty good to take away from this game, and John and Ben talked about it all. From the stellar performance of Philip Rivers, to the receivers, to the improvements made by the – gasp – coaching staff, there was plenty to take away. Moving on, the pair takes a look at this week’s playoff picture and then transition into discussing the upcoming primetime showdown against the New England Patriots. This is a good one.

16: Here Comes the Gauntlet

John’s and Ben’s hearts are still racing from the Chargers game against the Rams, easily the most exciting game of the season. They break down the Chargers win over the tough St. Louis Rams, keeping Jeff Fisher’s winless streak against the Chargers alive. They then move on to talk about the offensive line and why the Chargers can’t seem to keep their Centers healthy. Moving on to the bigger picture, the talk turns to the playoffs and how the upcoming game against the Ravens is one the Chargers simply can’t afford to lose. And with that, they close things out with their predictions for Sunday’s game.

14: Front-Loaded Injuries

The bye week is over and it’s officially Raiders Week! So y’all need to hide yo kids, hide yo wife, and hide yo husband cause Raiders fans are in town. Alright, maybe it’s not that bad, but the Oakland Raiders and their fans are coming to town and that means it’s time to reignite the old rivalry. Before discussing this week’s game, John and Ben take a few minutes to look back on the first half the San Diego Chargers 2014 NFL season. They wonder what the best and worst games of the season were, who the MVP of the half-season was, and they wondered what changes would they make if the season ended today. Also, many key players are coming back from injury, but who’s the most important player set to return? Who is the player nobody is talking about? Moving on to the future, John and Ben discuss whether the Raiders are a legit threat on Sunday, if they’ve gotten any better since the last time they played the Chargers, and do they have a shot at going 0-16. If you can’t get enough Chargers football, be sure to join Ben Higgins on the Bolts Brown Bag, every Monday at 12:30pm Pacific.
