Amber and Marcus Capone are the founders of VETS (Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions), a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting Special Operations combat veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress and mild traumatic brain injuries with unconventional therapies, including psychedelic therapies. We sat down during the annual VETS Gala in San Diego to talk about the Capone's shared challenges and the motivations behind creating VETS. Marcus is a former Navy SEAL, who was medically retired after 13 years of service, and was first motivated to experience an ibogaine therapy session at the encouragement of his wife Amber, who co-founded VETS alongside Marcus with the intention of helping his fellow veterans in the way he found help. Since 2019, the non-profit Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions (VETS) has provided grants for hundreds of U.S. Special Forces veterans to receive psychedelic-assisted therapy treatment outside the U.S., as well as preparation and integration coaching.
