Cutting the Apron String of Adolescence

The Children Praise Hour
Are you impatient ? Do you think you are ready to take on making decisions and choices without parental input? Really! You might think your age qualify you to put on the mantle of responsibility to do what you want, when you want to. You possibly have shout this at your parents more than once: "I'm thirteen! I'm not a baby! This impatience of being in the twilight zone of adolescence and adulthood is often the devil's way of training you for rebellion, stubbornness, and unreasonableness. He wants you think you are wiser than you really are- The Epistle of James says there are two kinds of wisdoms: the one that comes from above that is first pure, then Peaceable, open to reason, full of mercy, and good fruit, partial and sincere. The second wisdom is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealous and self ambition exists there will be disorder and every vile practice (James 3:13-18). Taking on absolute responsibility for yourself must be carefully thought through. Because, making choices and decisions effectively without excitement and anger can have lifelong devastating consequence. Even if your parent or parents are not Christian you need an adult advisor and counselor. Going it alone can build up regrets and lower your self-worth. Putting the mantle of responsibility is very serious business. I suggest you begin reading your bible daily, continue with church and Sunday School attendance before you cut away the Apron String of parental or adult authority. If you find you are impatient and must get on into adulthood swiftly. Ask yourself: Are you afraid of being unpopular? or being unloved or loveable? Are you depressed? Bored? Questioning yourself with question like these will help you get down to the root cause of your emotional and financial insecurities. Journaling can be a helpful tool to understanding yourself. And, for helping to wait patiently for adulthood. Of course, you will never outgrown the need for patience and humility.
