In the third part of the current series on the power of remembering what God has done for us that results in His blessings, gifts, and benefits, Pastor Evan Brown discusses the topic of forgiveness. He speaks of several aspects of forgiveness that go beyond the forgiveness that leads us to our salvation: confessing our transgressions and seeking, asking for, and receiving forgiveness. He focuses on two of King David’s psalms of repentance. Psalms 32 and Psalm 51 address David’s acknowledging his sin; seeking and asking for God’s mercy; enjoying the blessings of being cleansed, restored, and brought back to God; and passing on to others what he has learned regarding the consequences of hiding from God and the blessings of opening his heart and mind to the Lord.

Pastor Evan Brown concludes the 4 week "Rejoice" series with a short teaching on Psalm 68: 19-20: God is a God of deliverances and to Him belong escapes from death!  Chris Phillips gave his testimony of how the Lord delivered him and provided him with an escape from death.

Our sovereign God knows what we need and when we need it and is faithful in His promise to provide those needs. Today’s teaching focuses on the importance of our staying focused on and connected to God and why it is necessary to remember with a grateful heart the blessings, gifts, and benefits He has given us. Pastor Evan Brown elaborates on some possible reasons that we become disconnected from God and His power and provision. Following up on last week's teaching on Godly Wisdom from the book of Proverbs, Pastor Evan Brown shows from his own personal bible study how his interest in one word (scoffer, found in Proverbs 21:24) led him to other verses defining what a scoffer is, the scoffer's resistance to instruction, and the outcome of the scoffer's choices. The application of this study developed from: "I don't know what a scoffer is" to his prayer: "Lord, drive the scoffer out of me"! Pastor Evan teaches us that foolishness and wisdom, although they both cry out to us in a similar manner, lead to very different ends. (Prov 9:4-18) God’s wisdom calls to us continually. We will recognize this by its purity, free of all wrong, foolishness and wickedness. No earthly thing we desire can possibly compare to the riches we possess when we have wisdom. (Prov 1:10-19). God helps us negotiate every step of our life’s way and His wisdom calls us to be continually mindful. Because our own wisdom won’t help us, we need God’s counseling. His wisdom gives us power, mastery and bravery to make difficult decisions. When we follow God’s call we are enriched in long lasting wisdom. We find life only when we live God’s way. (Prov 21-31)

Today Pastor Josh Engelhardt moves on to Part 2 of his character study of Peter, as demonstrated by Peter’s behavior with the various people He has encountered throughout his walk with Jesus. Pastor Josh presents some insights into how Peter might have felt after having spent 3 plus years with Jesus. He discusses from the book of Acts, chapters 2, 3, and 10, Peter’s transformation from an impulsive, hardworking fisherman to a thoughtful “fisher of men.” He also reminds us of Paul’s challenge to Peter of his character shortcomings (Galatians 2:11-14). He then highlights Peter’s growth in his ministry as seen in Peter’s letters to fellow believers through encouraging them to keep on keeping on and showing them a new understanding of how God continues to work in our lives. 1 Peter 1:1-4, Luke 5:1-11.
