THE COST OF DREAMING. A conversation with the Mun Gai (Not Neil Armstrong, but close)

Is fighting for your dreams truly worth it? Who determines the value of our dreams? In this episode, I speak with an impeccable writer, Baraza Media Lab curator and 2018 Niemann Fellow at Harvard, Christine Mungai.  She shares her own journey of battling for her dreams, what she learned from the 2020 film Softie by Boniface Mwangi as well as how close she came to throwing all of her dreams away. Additionally, she sheds light on the power of having someone believe in you and how such belief can alter the trajectory of ones life. Subscribe for more conversations on how creativity can change the world and why we're re enlisting world changers, one recovering creative at a time. The Language of Fear.

In the first episode of this podcast, I get to have a short Zoom conversation with Kenyan educator and fellow creative Dr. Wandia Njoya as we discuss how to break free from creative fear as well as how to identify and name the spaces and environments that propagate fear into our lives.  Do you have that thing you've wanted to give to the world but you just keep overthinking or doubting yourself? Well, this episode is for you. The context, inasmuch as it speaks heavily on Kenyan creatives, fully applies to creatives all over the world. Music. A guide for the recovering creative :D

After years of living in the fear of "not being good enough," - something that cripples many people, limiting them from living out fully and purposefully, I'm finally putting fear aside to start this podcast. A little bit about me: I am from Nairobi, Kenya. I love Poetry, Neo Soul, Hip Hop, Reggae and Jazz music. Other than those, I'm pretty eclectic.  I'm an ambivert afraid of heights whose wife threatens him with the gruesome thought of sky diving so if one day you hear I'm missing, I'm probably hiding out somewhere to avoid being that close to the sky. Lastly, I'm on a journey to getting back the best of me so that I can help others get the best of themselves. Bear with me and if it's alright, grow with me.  This is huge for me after so many years of a complicated relationship with creativity and media (you'll hear the CRAZY stories here) but I'm committed. Thank you for coming. Thank you for staying. Love, David.
