Star Wars Episode VII now has a title Those clever guys at Lucasfilm have now released the official title for Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Do we like it? Is it making our lightsabers glow brighter than usual? Dwayne Johnson dumbs down Shazam connection with the DC cinematic world The big guy has taken to Twitter to reveal that (not confirmed as yet btw) the Shazam movie that he’s been cast in as Black Adam will not be part of the connected DC cinematic universe and will be a stand alone movie. We’re both going in opposite directions on this. DC announce huge comic book run Convergence When DC pack up shop and move location next year they’re stopping all comic runs bar this one (mostly) and concentrating on this huge multi-everything story crossover story. It’s a bold move for sure which also leads into Two Shots Talk… Two Shots Talk The DC cinematic universe – the good, the bad and the potentially messy With DC looking to swipe a piece of the movie world pie from Marvel they’re taking brave steps to line up a series of great sounding movies. The Good stuff News Round-up DC Movies List DC/Warner Bros. have confirmed all of the DC movies that will be released up to 2020 (well most of them anyway). We’re loving the lust but there’s a couple that could be a bit meh. Star Wars Episode VII leaks Some naughty people at Lucasfilm/Bad Robot/Disney have posted a bunch on concept art online for us to feat our eyes on but they are spoiler heavy so heed caution if you go looking for them. Some interesting characters though. We will see Iron Man again, but not in a stand alone movie After months of yes it’s on to no it’s not, we finally get the green light that Robert Downy Jr will be back as Tony Iron Man Stark but not in Iron Man 4. He’ll be appearing in Captain America 3 as they start adapt the popular civil war story line from the comics. LEGO Batman spin-off movie Some great news if you liked the Batman character from The LEGO Movie, he’s getting his own spin-off adventure Two Shots Talk Autumn/Fall TV – off to a good start? Does it earn instant respect or does it get left behind? And does Arrow shine as it enters season 3? Full reviews (including spoilers) await. The Flash I begin with The Flash as it’s the newbie and the show with the most to prove. We’ve already seen Barry Allen pop up in Arrow from last season so we already know the actor (Grant Gustin) and how he plays the part. Now we get to experience the world in which this character will be set. I might be a bit harsh at times but overall I liked this pilot and look forward to the season. Arrow The production on Arrow is top notch as ever and season 3 really does feel like a natural continuation of season 2, picking up pretty much where we left off. Team Arrow are all back fro business, this time with Roy Harper in full on combat garms, and we even have a newcomer to the scene – Ray Palmer as we know from the comics is The Atom. A great start to season 3 and can’t wait until next week! I dive into more detail on both shows so give it a listen and tell me below in the comments if you agree or disagree with my ratings. New set pics of Henry Cavill as Clark kent With Ben Affleck hogging the on set pics of Batman vs Superman it’s time Cavill got involved and so we’re treated to him on set not as Supes but as Clark Kent and looking very traditional to boot. Netflix signs deal to show Gotham In a revolutionary new deal worked up between Netflix and Warner Bros. the online streaming service will air the entire series once it’s finished on TV. Good news for fans of the show as you’ll be able to binge watch your way through. Wesley Snipes eyes up Blade 4 With the ultra-cool vampire slayer still looking good after all these years it’s no wonder he wants in on his most successful franchise. While Blade 1 and 2 very good (1 being very awesome) the third was a bit too popcorn. Can they salvage a 4th? Two Shots Talk Are superhero movies getting better? Now that superhero and comic book movies are big business for the movie industry are they getting better as time goes on? What was once sniffed at by industry big wigs back in the Burton days of Batman, are they now gradually getting better with larger budgets and top writing talent? The Good stuff News Round-up New set pics from Batman vs Superman We’ve been treated to some set action this week with a small car chase video but more importantly some pics and another small video showing Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne in a sharp blue suit and sporting “Frank Miller” style grey side burns. New release date for Batman vs Superman Yes, 2016 seems like a long time to wait so it’s sort of good news that Warner Bros. have brought the release date for Bats vs Supes forward from it’s original date of May to March so it doesn’t go head-to-head with Captain America 3. Hey, three months is better than nothing. Warner Bros. Pictures has also mapped out it’s core movies up to 2020 which is good news as from 2016 we’ll be getting two movies per year, yay! Zack Snyder and J.J. Abrams tweet strange pics With secrecy the top priority on two big budget movies being filmed right now (namely Bats vs Supes and Star Wars EP VII) there’s a rumour that stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are being trucked to set in black robes. So J.J. thought it would be funny to tweet a pic to J.J. showing Henry Cavill as Superman in Jedi Robes complete with lightsaber. Funny. J.J. then returned the favour showing C-3PO in Bat cape looking over Gotham with a Jedi symbol instead of the Bat symbol in the sky. Huh, those funny director types. Gotham TV show set pics FOX’s new Gotham TV show has been spreading the love with some new set pics and what stands out the most is the awesomely designed gates to Arkham Asylum. Using classic look and feel from previous Batman material it’s still got that spooky feel. It’s a huge news round up so we talk all things Batman, upcoming DC TV shows, plenty of Arrow Season 3 and comics. The Good stuff News Round-up New image of Ben Affleck as Batman Zack Snyder has teased a new image of Ben Affleck in the cape and cowl as the panels for San Diego Comic-Con heat up. We’ve been excited about Affleck playing the part of Batman since it was announced and these images are reinforcing that. Batfleck to possibly be the best Batman yet? Viral site launched for FOX’s upcoming Gotham show As web designers by day (yes we are Mark) we appreciate good online design and the folks at FOX have put together an awesome fake news site to promote Gotham. It’s realistic and shows what’s in store for our heroes and villains. Captain Cold and Plastique heading to The Flash Prison Break and Resident Evil star Wentworth Miller has been cast in the role of Snart and his alter ego, Captain Cold and will presumably go on to lead the developing team of Rogues throughout the series’ first season. Over and above the genre favourite being cast, Michael Ausiello also just revealed that fiery red head Plastique will be making her first appearance in Central City during The Flash season one. DC TV and movies will be separate universes DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has gone public saying that fans should not expect any crossover between the DC TV and movie entities and that they are they’re own separate universes. Comixology now offering DRM-free backups Certain publishers have already given you access to their library which you can access from now. A couple of big ones such as IDW and Image are already on board plus a handful of smaller labels so it looks good so far and a step in the right direction for an open-DRM-free world of comics. Two Shots Talk 1 We breakdown the new trailer for Arrow Season 3 SDCC couldn’t go ahead without an announcement or release of some kind for Arrow and not to disappoint those guys at The CW put out a decent trailer for Season 3 so we look into: 1. Roy Harper suiting up as Arsenal 2. Canary’s return 3. Is Diggle getting sidelined? 4. Felicity and Ollie dating? 5. Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer 6. Can Ollie be a hero and also have a life? Two Shots Talk 2 Are comics for both DC and Marvel losing their way a little and releasing lots of potential money spinners? We put an article out a while back titled “Why Marvel isn’t Marvel anymore” which got a few interesting comments which centred around Marvel (and others including DC) putting out issues and team up’s just to make some cash and not necessarily putting quality content first.
