Andy Rafferty and I are at the European Championship Men's Road Race in Glasgow, lightly recap some of the other European championship events including TTs, track, and MTB, while watching the road race unfold and sampling the atmosphere around the course.

In this show I cover closed road circuits in Scotland, including my own experiences at the much-loved Ingliston near Edinburgh. There is news about the Fife Cycle Park, which is starting to be built, and an interview with Matt Ball of the Linlithgow Development Trust about the West Lothian Cycle Circuit, which is entering its final phase of funding.

In this show I interview Kevin Johnston of the Clydesdale Colts cycling club and who is also involved in the the Scottish trials club. We talk about how young riders can use trials bikes to get on bike skills quickly that can be easily transferred to mountain bikes. In Motherwell they were looking to raise awareness of what he calls the best kept secret in cycling - how the trails bike can be used, and even with a simple grass area and cones course. In this show I talk to Norrie Petrie, chairman of Stirling Bike Club about organising a big event. The Crit under the Castle race has been held in Stirling in 2014 and 2015 and has incorporated the Scottish Cycling criterium championships. This event has enjoyed a full programme of racing with closed roads in a town centre and I wanted to ask Norrie about how this was achieved to help other clubs with ideas and practical advice about how to improve their own events.

In the second episode of the Drum Up Scottish Cycling podcast, my recording skills are challenged by the sea breeze at Irvine Beach, just south of Glasgow in Scotland. We are at the Scottish cyclocross championships. I talk to Chief Commissaire for the day, Tom Forbes, about the role of the comm, the evolution of cyclocross in Scotland, and best practice for course design and race organisation.
