Keeping with the theme of the last few episodes on how online marketing is changing. I wanted to share some visibility mistakes that I’ve been seeing so you don’t waste your time or worse yet repel clients. “Visibility” is a big buzz word in the online space and all it really means is marketing basically. Somewhere along the way, I guess the word marketing got a bad rap but to keep things simple that is really all visibility is marketing - being seen in the right places where your ideal clients are. Alos, being seen frequently so people you don’t know start to get to know-like-trust you. Visibility is staying top-of-mind so when someone is ready to work with you they know how to reach you with little effort. So this week I continued to minimalize my business. Last week I talked a little about how my personal life and diet and things like I use minimalist mindset. But not always in my business. And as I take these things out - there is no stress because I can always put them back in - no big deal. We own these businesses and we can change our minds often. So one big thing is that instead of the big mastermind events that I host - I’m going to shift that into small group VIP Days. I have always done 1:1 VIP Days but now I’ll be adding small groups to that program so I can take away the large events. This might not seem like streamlining to you but it totally is. This week, I don’t know if it was because I launched Passive Income Paradise or what but I’ve been streamlining a ton in my business and simplifying a bunch. If you don't know me very well yet - I am a hardcore minimalist with my possessions with only a suitcase, laptop, iPhone, 2 dogs, and a juicer. :) And a minimalist in my diet (soy free, dairy free, gluten free, vegan). But sometimes not so much a minimalist with my schedule and business. This is partly because I absolutely LOVE what I do! And partly because the other areas of my life are so streamlined I have TONS of space to fill in with my business. But if you are doing things just to do them, or because you've always done them a certain way, these tasks are just cluttering up your schedule and could be blocking clients and money from coming in. If you are doing things because it worked for someone else and not with intention or receiving a return on investment for yourself these tasks are clutter and expensive. I’ve noticed this with my clients too. Sometimes we build up a lot of complicated things and then have a craving for simplifying. And we can’t feel guilty or like we wasted time building something because that time and actions were needed in order to get the clarity. I have one client that is completely rebranding after working a couple years on one of her businesses but she sounds so excited now. When you have this excitement it takes all the fear and procrastination out of your day and you just start taking massive inspired action. Yes, we spent a lot of time building the other side of the business, but it was needed to get this massive clarity. Anyways, this intro is getting pretty long so let’s dive into today’s topic. I’m going to be sharing exactly what I would do if I had to start all over from scratch today. So not necessarily what I would have done differently in the past because the past was so different than what is going on today and what is working today. I know!  I should have done this particular episode first in the series but I added it at the end. Maybe if it was, in the beginning, you wouldn’t care or know why these terms are important to understanding when you are new to the industry. Many of my clients come from the corporate world and they think I am speaking another Language sometimes. This will be a great episode to point them to when it is completed. And this really does surprise me that they don’t know some of this and it isn’t because I am so immersed in it but what I’m thinking to myself is how much untapped business did they leave on the table by not incorporating some online marketing strategies. But when you go into business for yourself you might find that you are only doing that thing you love maybe 20% of the time. The rest of the time you are marketing, prospecting or networking to get the work you love. And a little admin too – maybe 10% admin. People just don’t realize how much marketing is involved to keep a small business or practice running. Ok enough of my rant there! You guys know I don’t like doing interviews and having a great conversation for it to just die on my blog. So today you will hear the Power of Perception Live radio interview that I did last week with Scott Golden. It was a really interesting conversation for me because Scott, the gentleman you’ll hear interviewing me had such a different mindset on a lot of topics. So right off the bat, he asked something about how my clients make $5-20K per month and that was quote “such a large amount of money”. And I was really thrown off by that because it depends on who you are asking.  In comparison to what is that a lot of money.  It really depends on who you are hanging around with.  If everyone you hang around with is making $10-$20K per month it really doesn’t seem abnormal.  It is you new normal. This is why surrounding yourself with people who are making more and up to big projects is so important and why you need to get your registration in at our mastermind events. He also asked about refund policy and wouldn’t I sell more if I gave refunds. Well, yes I might sell more initially but it would be to the wrong people. I need to work with totally committed clients – they won’t get the results they are seeking if they are not committed.  It takes too much personal growth work and business building work (it is fun work but it is still a lot of work) to make it to these levels and if they are not committed to the program it just won’t work.  Most of my work is done at the beginning of the program diving into a clients business and towards the end, it is mostly maintenance, small shifts, and troubleshooting. And I am not in control of one’s results – I can only guide, support and suggest.  I can’t do the work for them.  So I can’t run a business based on other peoples results or lack there of. A great way to go out of business is to let your income be subject to other peoples life dramas, mood, and motivation.  So throughout the conversation, I felt that we had some very different opinions and methods of operation and that is what is so interesting. None of this needs to be cookie-cutter. Scott also asked a few questions about why it is important to personally be positioned in the marketplace. And that is because most of my client’s marketing is done online to people they don’t already know.  To increase the know-like-trust factor you have to put yourself on audio, video, or photos in front of your ideal clients/audience a little more than what might feel comfortable at first.  My photos are all on my website and social media not out of vanity but out of connecting with the audience.
