Photographer Alonzo Williams Jr has developed a philosophy that human beings' (rather they be acquaintances or strangers) greatest super power is their own life story. In The Everyday Stranger Podcast, Williams strictly bases his episodes on human story by sharing his experiences and encounters with strangers along with interviews with strangers from the past and present."I see human beings as books waiting to be read. This is the perfect way to learn if you ask me." Alonzo states. In addition, The Everyday Stranger Podcast is the continuance of Alonzo's recent project entitled "Everyday Strangers"- a passion project where he uses the same philosophy but through photography instead."My job is to explore the diversity of the human race, converse with strangers no matter what our differences may be, while at the same time staying true to myself"- Alonzo Williams Jr

When Passion Finds You Before You Find Passion w/ Sheilisa

Life’s greatest lesson is not taking things for granted. For Sheilisa she felt like she might have taken opportunities, or people, in her space she didn’t grasp because of nervousness or lack of motivation. Taking things for granted associates itself often with regret, it makes you think back and say “I could have done that”. “Once you realize that you can exceed far beyond your reach and should have been doing that always, that is where regret unfolds.” Although she found herself in a stagnant place for a while she feels like its never too late to do anything as long as you realize it is something you can still begin doing. Sheilisia began her art journey after her grandmother passed away, a talented sculptor that like many artists was passionate & critical about her craft. Although she never had an interest in art before. She wanted to see how her grandmother felt in her creative process, she went to buy a sketchbook and started sketching. Since that day she started to realize how much of a creative side she really did have. For Sheilisa this began a new path in her life, she started going to art school and realized that out of her entire class her artistic skills were advanced. She goes on to break down how her grandmother, her death and the fact she did not initially know what to do career wise led her to where she is in her artistic career today. Slotted to open her first studio this year she is looking forward to growing her business and creating a creative space for creatives and events. Life After Anxiety & Meds

In this episode, Alonzo speaks to one of the strangers he previously met Travis. A Photographer & Tattoo Artist who currently resides in Arizona. He speaks on the initial thing that sparked interest in speaking to Travis. His KEEP CALM tattoo across his knuckles, how he realized that medications prescribed for disorders such as anxiety don’t make a difference and that it’s all about brainpower. Travis spoke about how anxiety and depression cost him work and friendships, but he felt confused about what to do in the situation he was in. After realizing that the medication was doing more harm than good, he stopped taking the 15 medications he had been taking for years. Thinking back to the moment when he made that decision to stop cold turkey, he felt like he died and was reborn. Which brings about the question. Should medications be prescribed at all for “chemical imbalances” or is it something that has to be worked out with yourself? It takes work to be able to overcome these things, and medications are only meant to be temporary. Although anxiety is not something he has completely overcome, he has learned to keep himself positive and keep pushing forward. Describing himself as a “Walking Misconception”. He reflects on an outing he had with a friend and how an older man assumed that he had gone to prison because of his tattoos as well as another encounter with an older woman at a bar in Arizona who felt the same. Alonzo and Travis come to an agreement that presentation is what a lot of people use to determine how they perceive someone when they meet them. He also notes how emboldened people have become with judgment because they do not understand everyone they meet.
