Episode 162: McDonald's Making Maluable Change
Episode in
The Food Fix
McDonald's serves over 69 million people daily. Where does all the trashed packaging go? Landfills. But what if they had reusable packaging and silverware in store? How would that small change make a big impact on the amount of plastic going into our oceans? As You Sow is a shareholder advocacy company that posed those very questions to Micky D's themselves. How did the colossal cuisine company respond? Find out in this weeks episode.

Episode 151: Cass Says Goodbye, Anna Says Hello
Episode in
The Food Fix
Now read the title to the tune of "Hello, Goodbye" by the Beatles. It's what Cassidy would have wanted.
This is Cassidy's final episode of The Food Fix. Now that she's graduated with her degree in environmental science, she's taking some time to travel and unwind. But she plans to keep working in audio, so give her a Google search in a few months. As for now she is feeling bittersweet, as this was the coolest job she ever had, but she's sure that she's leaving the show is in good hands. Tune in to meet the new host of The Food Fix, the lovely Anna Lionas.
Okay forget third person this is Cassidy. I just have to give a special thanks to some people before I head out. Thank you to my listeners. It's been so fun having so many of you tune in to hear me babble every week. Thank you to my roommates and my wonderful boyfriend for letting me bounce ideas off of you, and for keeping me sane during technical difficulties. Thank you to the Freezer Bees for giving me that "legally binding handshake" back in September so that I could have awesome podcast music. Thank you to all my amazing guests who have taught me, and my listeners so much. Thank you to the Solutions Journalism Network and MSU's Knight Center for Environmental Journalism for your guidance and support.
And most importantly, thank you to my editor Dave Poulson. Thank you for believing in me and teaching me everything I know about journalism.

Episode 150: Octopuses
Episode in
The Food Fix
First of all, octopuses are the coolest animals ever.
Second of all, it's octopuses, not octopi.
Third of all, octopuses are super resilient. Remember climate change? That thing killing the polar bears? Well it's also killing a lot of the fish that you like to eat. But not octopuses. Why? Refer back to point number one. And also listen to this episode.

Episode 148: Hunting Sustainably
Episode in
The Food Fix
I know I know. Cassidy, the vegan, is promoting hunting on her show? Sounds fishy.
Well believe it or not, Cassidy isn't totally anti-meat consumption. She's just anti-unsustainable meat consumption. Most of the meat you buy at the store has been grown, harvested, processed and shipped in a way that will be detrimental to the environment if we keep at it for long. So if you're going to eat meat, one of the most sustainable ways to do it is by skipping the store and taking to the woods. Or if that's not for you, buying your meat locally is a great step too.
This week Cassidy is joined in the studio by Maeve Denshaw, young hunter and environmentalist. Tune in as Cassidy and Maeve dish about sustainable hunting, humans' role in the food chain, venison and.... Maeve's Meat Madness?

Episode in
The Food Fix
I mean come on was the title not enough of a grab? Everyone loves space... probably.
How do astronauts eat in zero gravity? Can we grow food in space? Why should you be concerned with the 96 bags of human waste we've left on the moon?
I mean surely you're hooked by now, but for those of you still on the fence, you should know that Cassidy has two guests in-studio for this week's super-duper fun episode. Join Katie Townley, Ann Ginzburg and Cassidy as they laugh and learn about three different quirky space food topics.
