The Free School Podcast Episode #25 - DJ Dick (Rockers Hi-FI) & Adam Regan (Leftfoot)

Our quarter-century is up! And to celebrate we had to commiserate! Richard Whittingham (DJ Dick), formerly of Rockers Hi-Fi is leaving these shores for Sicily and we asked his old compadre Adam Regan of Leftfoot to join him for an evening of exotic food, music and hot chat. Our third special guest, Steve Cobby, formerly of Fila Brazillia, had to be chopped for sounding too much like he was on speakerphone (which he was). Apologies Steve, sir. Hot topics include: Brummies in San Francisco, an early Mute Records release, the infamous ‘Different Drummer’ poem, midnight jazz & the amazing ECM label (still can’t believe Dick did a remix for them!), John Peel warming and then cooling to Dick, a nightmare gig in Eastern Europe for Adam and finally DJing as artistry. You can buy Steve’s new album ‘Saudade’ here: http://stevecobby.co.uk/releases We have our new t-shirts for sale here: http://freeschool.bigcartel.com/ Our next date: 5th Sept - Bossa Nova Civic Club, Brooklyn (DJ Set) - http://bossanovacivicclub.com/ Thanks for your support, Steve & Andy Tracklisting: 1. The Golden Billionnaire - Steve Cobby 2. East Flows The River - The Soul Jazz Orchestra 3. Soul Vibration - 3IO 4. Feeling Good - Gene Ammons 5. Triumph Of The Gods - Psychemagik 6. Fireside Favourite - Fad Gadget 7. What’s A Girl To Do - Fatima Yamaha 8. Hangover (Moodymann Remix) - Charlotte OC 9. Summer Love - Billy Wright

Hey hey hey! How is everybody? We're good. Thanks for asking. For the latest podcast? Oh, just put hours of work in to this mix. Yes. Hours. And we've called it the Eternal Sunshine Mix. Get lost. It doesn't sound new age. It references the Jay Electronica track that appears at least 4 times throughout the mix. So there. Apology accepted. Thank you for your contrition. Hidden away (well, track 3) is one of our new tracks, French Cousins, which features Mr Greg Bird on vocals. Don't rip it and upload it elsewhere and make it go viral. Tracklisting: Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge) - Jay Electronica (Movements Of A Visionary - Tangerine Dream) With Just One Glance - Nicolas Jaar (Plastic People - The Mothers of Invention) (Pena - Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band) French Cousins - Free School (Love Part One - Dexy's Midnight Runners) Folk Rock - Wax Stag Lit - Spring Heel Jack (Steve Reid Tribute - Gilles Peterson & Kieran Hebdon) Afro Disco Beat - Tony Allen (The Artistic Integrity - Wale) Get Innocuous! The Free School Podcast Episode 18

Happy New Year Free Schoolers! Hope you're feeling positive and upbeat about the year ahead. You're not? Well have a listen to Episode 18 and hear the first ever Free School blooper reel. We even start the show with what we believe is termed a 'skit'. I said skit. Sam Redmore barges way into the podcast with his deceitful ways. Which is dead bad. BUT. It did enable us to bring the 'sock-beard' into existence which can only be dead good. We also round up our year, have a row about stealing DJ ideas and discuss how one might contract the norovirus. Tracks this month: 1. Liars - No.1 Against The Rush 2. Gwen Mcrae - Keep The Fire Burning 3. Nicolas Jaar - With Just One Glance 4. Lovebirds - Want You In My Soul 5. Matthew Dear - Temptation 6. Dutch Uncles - Fester Have an awesome year. Andy & Steve

STAY WEIRD. Updated
