Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Do one thing every day that scares you.”

She’s one of the most inspiring first ladies ever. So I took her advice. Facing my fears—both big and small—changed everything, and for the better.

I’m Molly Mogren Katt — and this is Hey Eleanor Podcast—where we talk about fear, anxiety and unleashing the awesomeness hiding in your discomfort zone.

Hey Eleanor! I'm 64 & Love Getting Older!

Cindy Joseph is a hippie-turned-make-up artist. At 49, she decided to stop dying her silver hair because she wanted to show women that aging wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. The day after the last of her dyed hair was chopped off, she was approached on the streets of NYC to do an international modeling campaign for Dolce & Gabanna. She’s been modeling ever since, and even launched her own what she’s dubbed a “pro-age" makeup line called Boom by Cindy Jospeh. I talk to her about why she actually loves getting older, why women need to stop combatting their fear with makeup, plus how to be beautiful at any age.

Hey Eleanor! I Pitched My Product to Target & Won!

Amy Regan worked for L'Oreal right out of college, then eventually moved to Jo Malone in London. Eventually, she met a handsome Canadian and moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, believing her days in the cosmetics business were over. While there, she discovered a healing salve, made locally by the same family for over 130 years. She loved the product so much, that she eventually bought the company. We talk about the responsibility of taking over an heirloom brand, her decision to do things the hard way, plus the big, scary thing she did: pitching her products to one of the biggest retailers in the world and succeeding. PS the elevator pitch happened in an actual elevator.

Hey Eleanor! I Started My Own Business!

Paleo blogger and cookbook author Melissa Joulwan has helped change the way hundreds of thousands of people think about nutrition. But guys, we’re not going to do another podcast on the paleo diet. Instead, I’m talking to Mel J about what it's like to work for yourself. She and her husband David said buh-bye to The Man years ago, and have learned tons about running a successful small business. We chat about how her super-successful cookbook series Well Fed changed her life, the importance of not comparing yourself to others, plus her favorite summer reads.

Hey Eleanor! I Made a Movie!

This week, I’m talking to my brother, Andy Mogren. He’s a Minnesota transplant living in LA. He's spent the last five years making, then pitching an ever-evolving television concept that he writes, produces, directs, scores, edits, animates and stars in. Really. I talk to him about what it’s like to move to LA (Or as our dad likes says: Hollywood, Los Angeles, California), rejection, plus screening  a movie you spent a year creating in front of a live audience. Spoiler alert: Sometimes, it doesn’t go that well.

Hey Eleanor! I'm a Rapper!

Minneapolis-based rapper Andrew Sims (or maybe you just know him as Sims) performs as a solo artist, as well as with hip-hop collaboration, Doomtree. The two of us chatted about revisiting stuff you wrote as an angsty-teen, how he handles pre-show anxiety, plus his pick for the summer jam of 2015.

Hey Eleanor! I Rode a Roller Coaster!

This week, I’m talking to Beth Gibbs. She’s my friend and the former producer of the Go Fork Yourself podcast. So here’s the deal with Beth. She’s super smart, funny and adorable, but guys… her biggest fear is "being afraid." However, that's something she's working on conquering. A few weeks ago, she told me she wanted to face her fear of roller coasters. So we, two grown women, went to Valley Fair together and rode all the thrill rides. Here's what happened.

Hey Eleanor! I Have an Inferiority Complex!

Lucas Rayala is a serial entrepreneur with an aforementioned inferiority complex. It’s caused him to self-sabotage his businesses and seize up when trying to even talk about what he spends all his time and energy working on. We discuss what an inferiority complex is (it’s a real thing, not just a cutesty title), the steps he’s taken to get past it, plus his latest business venture... which he can finally talk about freely without giving in to the negative proverbial voices in his head.

Hey Eleanor! I Quit Being an A-Hole!

Wellness expert Jina Schaefer wasn't always so healthy and happy. As a teen and young adult, she walked around the world with a constant chip on her shoulder, trying to figure why she was always unhappy, no matter what she did. Eventually, she came to the realization that the rain cloud she thought was above her was actually inside of her. So, she stopped complaining about the crap going on around her and started focusing on herself. Jina shares her helpful tips and tricks to becoming happier (bonus: you don't even have to get out of bed).

Hey Eleanor! I'm a Girl Hunter!

Georgia & I have known each other for quite some time on the internet, but we met in person a few years ago at Austin Food & Wine. After a couple of bourbons, I told her I’d always wanted to try hunting. She invited me to go with her in Arkansas that fall. Little did she know that I never say no to a cool opportunity. Maybe she was just being polite, but too bad, 'cause I said yes. So we went, and she guided me through my first hunt, where I ended up having to kill a dove with my bare hands, and I sobbed the entire time.  Georgia never made me feel like less of a hunter because I cried. Quite the contrary—she showed me that there’s room for emotion and femininity in hunting. On today’s podcast, we talk about that, plus what it’s like to leave a fancy Wall Street job to follow your passion.

Hey Eleanor! It's Me, Nom Nom Paleo!

This week, were going back. Aaaaalll the way back to Paleolithic times. Well, kinda.   I’ve got Michelle Tam, the lady behind the Nom Nom Paleo empire joining me. She’s a pharmacist-turned-food blogger who specializes in delicious and “lazy” paleo recipes (she’ll explain what that means). What’s crazy about Michelle’s story is that while she’s built a crazy-popular blog, an award-winning iPad app and recently launched her own podcast, the gal claims she’s a total technophobe. So how did she overcome her fear of technology? Hint: Google, and a tech-dabbling hubby.

Hey Eleanor! I Regret My Tattoo!

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Do one thing every day that scares you.”  She’s one of the most inspiring first ladies ever. So I took her advice. Facing my fears—both big and small—changed everything, and for the better.  I’m Molly Mogren Katt — and this is Hey Eleanor Podcast—where we talk about fear, anxiety and unleashing the awesomeness hiding in your discomfort zone. This week, I met with laser tattoo removal expert Dusty Nelson about why you don’t have to have that tramp stamp forever. By the end of his interview, you might find yourself armed with the courage to finally say bye to that Chinese character you thought meant peace, but actually translates to old man cheeseburger.
