As we continue in our series Father Forgive Them, Because I Can't, we learn more about Joseph and the betrayal he experienced at the hands of his brothers. However, what looked like the end for Joseph was really the beginning of a season of preparation.   The Lord had much bigger plans for Joseph than he could have ever imagined, and Joseph's perspective was shifted to focus on heavenly things. As a result, Joseph was not only blessed, he blessed the hands who hurt him. We kicked off our series "Father, Forgive Them Because I Can’t" by examining the lives of Isaac, Jacob, and Esau.   The wound of betrayal is deep, and the act of true forgiveness has to be wrestled with daily. Esau chose not to let what happened to him determine the trajectory of his life. This week, we concluded our series "When Wind Breathes Fire" by learning about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Church in Acts 2. Revival, Awakening, and Outpouring didn't stop with the Church in Acts 2.    We learned that, once filled with the Holy Spirit, God's people devoted themselves to teaching, learning, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Revival starts in the heart of the believer, and revival starts with repentance! Today, we started our series When Wind Breathes Fire, looking at the church in Laodicea and how Jesus challenges them to lean into their faith. We cannot remain dormant in these last days. A beautiful, meaningful day in the Lord’s house! Today we looked at the Parable of the Lost Son from the perspective of the father. This week, we kicked off a brand new series, Homecoming, where we’re exploring the Parable of the Prodigal Son from four biblical perspectives.   Sunday, Pastor Kenny walked us through the son’s view of his journey through the wilderness, and how we find ourselves in similar situations throughout life. We rebel because we think freedom is on the horizon. But what often looks like freedom usually turns into famine. The son’s earthly dreams led him to desperation. BUT GOD!   Just like his father welcomed him home with joy and celebration, so too does the Lord delight in us trusting Him with our future!! Today was powerful. We continued in our Homecoming series, learning the perspective of the older son, the one who never left home. Jesus uses this parable to hold a mirror to the Pharisees, who were still viewing salvation through the lens of hard work. They hardened their hearts toward lost sheep and found no value in rejoicing with those who accept Jesus and His Gospel. Aren’t we like that, too? We’ve been steady, firm, consistent, and the praise falls on those who have freshly come Home. We should REJOICE! The Gospel is ALIVE! May we start viewing people as souls, souls in need of connection and salvation. People are not a battle to be won, but an opportunity for deep, lasting connection.
