#069 - James Jirat Patradoon
Episode in
The Hustle & Flow Podcast
In this episode, Shaun and I are joined by James Jirat Patradoon.
James is a digital artist whose work is informed by a wealth of cultural references. From 80’s aesthetics and 90’s fashion, to comic books and tattoo design, he renders his ideas in flashes of neon and monochrome.
Creating captivating gifs, murals and digital artwork, his arcane obsession with the occult seeps through every pore of his pieces, fusing Japanese anime with pop-horror and searing, luminous colours. His work is clean and graphic in production, exploring humanity’s depths and fractures and creating his own hyperreal infernal paradise.
He has worked with high profile international clientele, including collaborations with Coca Cola, Facebook, HBO, Microsoft, just to name a few.

In this episode, Shaun and I discuss our the concept of ‘pace.’
The modern world operates at a particular pace. It is something that we hardly ever take the time to think about and is what we collectively know as ‘normal.’
It’s a mode of operation where we never feel as if we have enough time and to slow down can be considered fatal.

#067 - Derryn Wong
Episode in
The Hustle & Flow Podcast
In this episode, Shaun and I are joined by Derryn Wong.
When he was younger, he harboured a lot of dark emotions. He was a shy and worried kid. As he grew older, he started to develop deeper feelings of anger and guilt and before he knew it, he was an adult full of resentment and insecurities. The world became a hunting ground for him to find happiness, love and validation. He ended up working in the TV industry for 14 years trying to prove that he was someone - but as work consumed his existence, he felt like he was losing any scope of why he was living anymore.
This was when yoga attracted him. When he first started practicing yoga, it was purely about releasing physical tension. Though it has become much more than the physical practice for him now. For him, yoga is now about letting go of emotional stress and putting all his awareness on healing. It is about finding the YOGIC STATE of calm, peace, kindness and self-love. Yoga changed his life.
After 5 years of practicing Ashtanga, Hatha & Vinyasa yoga styles, he left his job in 2019 for a year to focus on himself & is now certified with 200 hrs of International Yoga Alliance teacher training. His mission is to help men and women in need of releasing stress in order to find their interpretation of peace, strength, flexibility, happiness and maybe one day, bliss.

The realisation of not being able to move the way he used to hit him hard. He endured serious depression and felt isolated from his peers. At the age of sixteen, he took up wheelchair tennis. Animus is a Latin word defined as “a usually prejudiced and often spiteful or malevolent ill will,” though this discussion was sparked by a social media post that described it as “the rage in your belly to change some shit that you think is wrong.“
We unpack our own personal approaches to how we feel we’d deal with such situations, and explore the reasonings and rationale behind these decisions.

#062 - Dan Bratman
Episode in
The Hustle & Flow Podcast
In this episode, Shaun and I are joined by Dan Bratman.
In his own words, today’s guest has been in love with horses his entire life. As a kid, horses showed him how to love and how to be a steward to the vulnerable. He turned professional at 13, and felt he knew exactly where his life was going.
But as the years went on and the pressures to succeed and win increased, he found it hard to hold onto the reasons he started in the first place. He began to see what others in the horse business would do to win. He started to see what he did to win, and it weighed heavily on his conscience. After some very difficult introspection, he made the most difficult decision of his life, deciding to retire.
After leaving the horse business, he parlayed his new skills into work as a Director of Content, working closely with CEOs to develop and execute media strategies. He loved it, but began to notice a familiar pattern – when faced with a choice between acquiring more power or elevating one’s values, people almost always chose to acquire more power.
So, he gathered all of his life experience and skills in media, philosophy, horses and human nature, to develop Anima Equine - his unique method of personal development for horses and people. Through listening, meditation, groundwork, introspection and other modalities, he helps both horses and horse people to improve performance and connection.

#056 - "Knowing & Doing"
Episode in
The Hustle & Flow Podcast
In this episode, Shaun and I discuss the notions of ‘knowing’ and ‘doing.’\r\n\r\nOne of my favourite quotes is by Morpheus from ‘The Matrix,’ when he said, “There is a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path.” We dive in depth as to what this means to each of us.\r\n\r\nWe speak on how the factor of time influences the decisions that we make, and how our conscious action (or inaction) will determine the future that we experience.\r\n\r\nUltimately, we are motivated by our beliefs and values which we feel our lives should embody, but until we are clear on what that represents, our actions are not directed from a foundation of clarity.\r\n\r\nEpisode timestamps:\r\n1:25 – “I know, I know…”\r\n2:07 – If you know better, you can do better.\r\n3:45 – Doing in a non-physical way\r\n6:04 – Changing the paradigm of time\r\n7:15 – It’s all in the doing\r\n10:37 – Doing is not necessarily better than knowing\r\n11:38 – Presence and the present moment\r\n14:27 – To do in the moment is to just experience\r\n15:06 – The notion of enlightenment\r\n15:51 – Being in the moment, or not\r\n16:39 – The past and its utility\r\n18:24 – Why ‘now’ is important\r\n20:58 – Projecting into the future\r\n24:19 – Letting go and surrendering\r\n26:54 – Trying to control everything\r\n28:32 – Responsibility and sense of sovereignty\r\n30:18 – Choosing who you want to be\r\n33:39 – Knowing, but not doing\r\n35:42 – Priorities and your choices\r\n38:00 – Instinct vs. cognition\r\n42:16 – The difference between knowing and understanding\r\n45:08 – What we ‘should’ want\r\n48:07 – Gaining clarity for yourself\r\n50:10 – Grit, determination and resilience\r\n\r\nLet us know your thoughts and if you have any questions or suggestions for us.\r\n\r\nAs always, we ask that if you found any value from this discussion, we ask that you please share this episode with one friend, family member, loved one, or colleague, so they, too, have the opportunity to derive some value.\r\n\r\nGet in touch with us at thehustleandflowpodcast@gmail.com, and connect with us through the links below:\r\n\r\nShaun\r\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/shaun_coop\r\nSubito Supplements: https://www.subitosupplements.com\r\nMixing It Up: https://www.instagram.com/mixingitup.co\r\n\r\nLeslie\r\nFinding Space: https://www.findingspace.co\r\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/findingspace.co\r\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/findingspace.co\r\nYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/findingspaceco\r\n\r\nFind out more about the True North Transformational Program: https://www.true-north.co\r\n

#055 - Kara Ladd
Episode in
The Hustle & Flow Podcast
In this episode, Shaun and I are joined by Kara Ladd.\r\nKara is a business development brand consultant and journalist who has worked with many publications, including Cosmopolitan, Italian Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, Forbes, and more.\r\nAfter six years of hustling in the New York City fashion industry, the material world was the focus and foundation of her life. She worked too long, stressed too much, and was mentally and physically burned to a crisp. In December 2016, her busy lifestyle came to an abrupt halt when she was diagnosed with a rare soft-tissue cancer known as synovial sarcoma. She was 24 years old at the time.\r\nDuring her battle with cancer, spirituality acted as her guiding light, a source of strength, and a powerful release. It comforted her through eight months filled with five lengthy chemotherapy sessions, two radical leg surgeries, and 35 exhausting radiation sessions. Having recovered from her cancer battle, she has a fresh focus on self-healing, mindfulness, and a new career path.\r\nShe now represents and works with purpose-driven brands in wellness, sustainability and clean beauty through Boundless by Kara - a personal brand extension of her work where she and her contributors write about personal brand experiences, reviews and partnerships in the conscious lifestyle and wellness sector.\r\n\r\nTo connect with Kara, see links below:\r\nKara Ladd on Instagram\r\nhttps://boundlessbykara.com/\r\nBoundless by Kara on Instagram\r\nhttps://www.boundlesscreatives.com/\r\nBoundless Creatives on Instagram\r\nThe Soulbound Self-Discovery Course\r\nThe Soulbound Circle Monthly Membership\r\nThe 2021 Boundless Intentions Journal\r\nBoundless Creatives Corporate Consulting\r\n\r\nEpisode timestamps:\r\n2:34 – Kara’s origins\r\n6:26 – Background to Kara’s spirituality and upbringing\r\n8:49 – What spirituality means to Kara\r\n9:29 – The parallel of Kara’s spiritual and physical experiences\r\n11:20 – The connectedness we feel through religion and spirituality\r\n12:31 – Shaun’s relationship with religion\r\n13:13 – Connection through religion\r\n15:48 – We are all connected\r\n17:21 – We’re all praying to the same force\r\n18:33 – Detaching from religion and leaning into spirituality\r\n19:40 – The shift towards looking inward across the world\r\n20:28 – Removing the dogma of religion\r\n23:17 – We all have the tools within\r\n25:18 – Going inward is where the real work begins\r\n26:42 – What you need is within you\r\n29:32 – Do less, a little bit more\r\n31:00 – The art of meditation and our boundlessness\r\n32:36 – Life pre and post cancer\r\n42:36 – Intellect and the senses\r\n46:00 – The role of trauma in making us shift\r\n46:47 – Using our experiences to shift\r\n48:33 – Uncovering your soul wounds\r\n50:42 – Difficulty makes you question everything\r\n51:18 – What Les’ cancer did for Shaun\r\n55:25 – If you knew how long it would take, you might not start\r\n56:49 – Everything is hard work\r\n1:00:05 – Mortality isn’t morbid at all\r\n1:01:24 – The gift of life\r\n1:04:17 – Where to find Kara\r\n\r\nLet us know your thoughts and if you have any questions or suggestions for us.\r\nAs always, we ask that if you’ve found any value from this discussion, please share this with one friend, family member, or colleague so they, too, have the opportunity to derive some value.\r\nListen to the episode below!\r\n\r\nDrop us a line at thehustleandflowpodcast@gmail.com or connect with us through the links below:\r\n\r\nShaun\r\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/shaun_coop/\r\nSubito Supplements: https://www.subitosupplements.com/\r\nMixing it Up: https://www.instagram.com/mixingitup.co/\r\n\r\nLeslie\r\nFinding Space: https://www.findingspace.co/\r\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/findingspace.co/\r\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/findingspace.co/\r\n\r\nFind out more about the True North Transformational Program: https://www.true-north.co/\r\n
