If you  followed my example, you wouldn't need my help." Later that day, having moved off unassisted, Mike Coll ended up moored alongside me in Wesbourne Park .... so we recorded this podcast about anti social behaviour on the canals.

This was my first meeting with Pancho. He's helpful ... and from Peru. He's lived on his boat for just 6 months.  In this podcast, we talk about being helpful, Faith and the nature of community - online,  in London and on the waterways. Pancho talks about his best friend's suicide and how this affected his outlook. Joel talks about 2 incidents he experienced on the Hammersmith & City line this week.  There are several references to an earlier conversation that was supposed to appear at the end of the episode but the audio file was accidentally deleted. The interesting stuff is all in this section though.

He has already had a window smashed & a solar panel stolen.  Joel has been boating  for 7 years. Once someone knocked on his boat at 3am and ran off. This week, they are both moored in West London. On top of boating, Joel & Barry also have the comedy world in common. Joel was a comedy promoter from 1994 to 2012. Barry is the brains behind the Angel Comedy Club - (http://www.angelcomedy.co.uk) Even though they'd met before, this was the first time they talked properly. Barry has new boater questions. Joel has old boater answers. They swap their stories and discuss boats, comedy & more. It's a fascinating conversation which, as well as covering a range of boating issues, also reveals how Joel got to perform in Vegas and stories of rubbing shoulders with comedy's elite. Barry reminds Joel of his past but is Joel what Barry Ferns is destined to become?

He trades in crystals & fossils. Here we discuss what it's like to live on a narrowboat when you're 13 and the challenges of getting to school without the luxury of a home mooring. We also explore what can happen when you attempt to move someone else's boat a few feet in order to make enough space for your own. It might be acceptable in London but what about elsewhere???
