Thanks for stopping by:)

Below you will find the last 11+ years of my work. Technodrome 01 was recorded in 2008. About 6 months into my DJing venture. I am old school and still use turntables. I focus on track selection, and building a story. All of my sets have their own theme, and back story behind their purpose, which you can read in the details section of each mix.

As my artist's statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and therefore full of deep significance. - Calvin & Hobbes

Perihelion

This song represents my current journey into production. No samples were used in this track. This was entirely made with stock Ableton plugins besides Valhalla Reverb.

Time

Time is an element of life that controls how we act and how we think. Doing time, or more positively, putting in the time, lets us achieve things we didn't know we were capable of. Whether you've gotten your GED, while serving a sentence, or you've put thousands of hours into your passion, making the most of something we can't get back, is crucial to our well being as humans. Producing music, is something I've personally procrastinated on. When I think back 10 to 15 years, it's easy to get down on myself for not starting sooner. I really look up to all the producers. People who are interested in how it all works. For one, without you, I couldn't pursue my passion of DJing. Secondly, the amount of effort that goes into learning production is overwhelming, to say the least. Anything worth learning, is worth being terrible at for a while:)

Ground Hums Day

Sometimes I can't help but drift to the darker side of minimal and techno. It is my bread and butter. This set is technical, and bass heavy. Hence the title. Traktor was notifying me of ground hums, throughout most of this set. Blah blah, subs too close to the turntables, blah blah:) Sometimes I need to feel it, ya know?

Twin City Shredder - Day 1

This is the first project I've ever worked on. Overcoming the learning curve of Ableton is no easy task. Thankfully 10 years of mixing records has helped with learning how to structure a track. Learning something new and difficult is the only way to progress your skills as a human. This is my beginning into the production world. Thank you for listening.

Powerful Powell

So after a long couple months of dealing with depression, and anxiety, I'm finally back. This mix was recorded with love, and a passion for the emotional techno side of things. I recently spent a week among great people, at Lake Powell. This place is beyond beautiful, and full of history. If you've never been there, I suggest getting a good group of friends and make it one of your destinations. Relationships will form, laughs that hurt your belly, and memories that will last forever. This experience I had opened my eyes to a much brighter side of life and happiness. So the tracks in this set are meant to set that same mood. As always, thanks for listening:)

House had a groove, and it sounds like Techno

Please don't call Tech House, Techno. It is not techno and will offend the truest of techno heads. Tech House is a genre that sucked some elements from House, and gave a hickey to Techno. This set defines what Tech House is all about. Sexy vocals, with a gritty feel. Dirty basslines, that keep you in a trance. And Soulful melodies, that keeps your feet moving.

Stripped-Down

I enjoyed mixing my last set so much that I figured I'd strip it down even more to the bare elements of the genre. We can thank Robert Hood and Daniel Bell for recognizing this missing aspect of techno music. As a whole, we have Richie Hawtin, Daniel Bell, Robert Hood, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin, and Mike Banks to thank for making this reality a staple in the scene.

MNMLFRVR

Minimal has always been my deepest love. The strange and complex sounds accompanied by the deep basslines, always gets me moving. Minimal is one of the most complex genres to mix. It requires precise volume levels, and patience, as well as, superb track selection in order to keep the story going. Techno and recording sets has been my greatest passion for 16 years. I hope when you listen to my recordings, you hear the story I'm trying to tell.

Summer Grooves

Welcome back to another mix that I hope will be your anthem as we lead into summer. I crossed over multiple genres, in order to achieve a very dynamic mix. There should be something for everyone in this set. I'm looking forward to summer, and I hope you are too.

Makin' Moves

Hello everyone:) After weeks of having a messed up laptop, USPS losing my parts in the mail, countless hours of reinstalling Traktor Scratch Pro and dealing with severe DPC latency issues, I am happy to finally be able to upload some sets. This set is strictly techno. I don't play sets like this often, but I needed some bangin' 4 on the floor tunes. I'm going to be changing up my profile to look a bit more professional. Hope you like the new art work!

Molded

Have you ever played Resident Evil 7 Biohazard? Well, let me tell you just how scary this game is. This game will keep you up at night. It will also make your hair stand up. You will be so tense after just 15 minutes of this game, that your eyes and face will hurt after putting down the controller. Don't believe me? Play it. I recommend turning the lights off and using headphones. The only game I have ever played that is this scary is original Fatal Frame for PS2. I hadn't played Resident Evil since the first release on Sega Saturn. I preferred Silent Hill. RE7 may possibly be the best game I have ever played. I'm almost finished with it. I am at the stage where your with the girls and the monster Molded blasts through the floor. This game will make your heart race. This mix carries a bit of that creepy vibe, and my usual antics.

Retro from the Get Go

Every once in a while a DJ will revisit their old days by digging through tracks you started with. This set is exactly that. After buying Traktor Scratch day 1, it opened up the possibility to play songs that will never be on vinyl. As a DJ refines their craft, you get to a point of no return, meaning style, sound, and energy all change over time. These tracks help me remember where I come from. I hope this brings you back to the days where the music had set you free. The PAC-Man DJM-800 was my first professional mixer. The PAC-Man StyleFlip took lots of hours to design, and consists of many different versions of PAC-Man, from Atari to Nintendo. The design was the 8th style flip ever printed and was free with the purchase of the mixer. Thanks Vital Vinyl! I learned everything on that mixer. For the last 3 years I have used a Xone 92, which is simply a masterpiece.

A Veteran's Affair

This set goes out to all the veterans who have to deal with the awful care at the VA. My Monday started like this... I woke up and had to go to the VA to renew my Asthma Inhaler. So I walk into the E.R. to see a doctor with no appointment. I walk to the counter, get my name on a list, then I wait... 30 minutes go by and here comes the nurse who's gonna check my stats. I kindly say, "I think we can skip this test, since I'm just here to renew my prescription." The nurse goes, "No, No, we have to check your vitals." I thought "Have to?" Ok then. 10 minutes and 12 questions later, I'm questioning myself about all these questions. "Sir, are you thinking about harming yourself?" "Well, I wasn't till you asked me." Sir, we need you to be serious." "I'm feeling just fine, hows my heart?" "95 BPM, your heart is good. You, can return to the waiting area." Cool, finally done with that, and now here I wait. 2 hours later a nurse walks out, calls my name, and says my meds are ready at the pharmacy. Sweet, I don't have to actually talk to a doctor. So I stroll on down to the pharmacy, grab a number and check in. 20 minutes later they call my number and I talk to the pharmacist, she goes ahead and fills the Rx. Then says it will be about 20 minutes till it's filled:( 3 hours later I get out of the VA and a guy is parked behind my car, with a dead battery. So, with a smile on my face I helped a fellow veteran out with a jump, and we both went on our way. This delay at the VA really jacked up my whole day, but on the other hand I helped a man who desperately needed it. I would have posted this yesterday as scheduled, but this strange life, is all about timing.

Pressing On

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, once said "Moving on is easy, what it leaves behind is hard". Dave's statement couldn't ring more true for my situation. I had to walk away from a job that was consuming all my time and my life, with no clear benefit to either. To the awesome people I was used to seeing on a daily basis, I will miss you. To my friends and family, thank you for the continued support. I am now free to take back my life and my free time, and forcing myself to focus on my dreams and the finer things in life. I recommend others in the same boat to do the same. If your not happy in your current life, then please do yourself a favor and jump onto a different track:)

Flashback 2009

When deciding to do a set consisting of tracks from 2010, I also talked about doing a set from 2009, in order to distinguish the widely different sounds used for those years. Genre defining beats from the best of both years. These years captivated me to the fullest. This set is intended to bring you back to where PLUR started. Respect to Frankie Bones for making PLUR possible.
