11/09/16 One Year Anniversary

S3 / E10: The topic for our show today is vision. The Launch Pad crew talks about the overall vision for The Launch Pad and how it has evolved. By launching other people’s projects, we have launched our own and we thank our listeners for their support. Every business has a dream that is them clarified into a vision or future goal for the company. Unlike multiple other necessities required for an entrepreneur and their company, vision is something that can be trained over time. Jimmy Bako opens up the conversation sharing how every vision starts off with mental setbacks that he refers to as filters; often times it relates to “If only I had that skill” or “I don’t have any time”. When these filters show up, they discount the overall vision and when those thoughts disappear, anything appears possible. Visions are often hard to describe verbally, but R Hill and Jimmy Bako believe that no matter how hopeless it seems, entrepreneurs shouldn’t be discouraged because each vision is unique and it will resonate with at least one person out there. KKNW Studio: Samantha C, R Hill, Jimmy Bako and Israel Flores In the 2nd quarter, we introduce a returning guest: Israel Flores, a marketing and business development consultant that moved to Seattle to get involved in the startup scene. Israel looks for “sparks” within a company professionally and saw The Launch Pad had its own spark. Through that spark, Israel met with The Launch Pad Crew to discuss our goals and visions. At Israel Flores’ prompting, R Hill and Jimmy Bako take a look at how far The Launch Pad has come and R Hill shares how he got the idea for the business. In the 3rd quarter, Jimmy Bako gives us our Quote of the Week:  “Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision merely passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.” – Joel A Barker Israel points out that there is often a choice of visions laid before an entrepreneur, and every dream has an action that has to be done in order for the dream to become a vision; that choice of action is what’s going to change the whole world. In the 4th quarter, we discuss with Israel Flores how The Launch Pad is going into a new direction as the Crew shares what The Launch Pad means to them and our community. S3 / E9: The topic for our show is all about being savvy – business savvy and tech savvy. Being savvy is all about having a comprehensive understanding of how something works and the Launch Pad Crew discuss how our own personal knowledge of something can lead to a business venture. We also talk about how we may be savvy in one area but not another and how we often build teams to integrate other savvy partners to get us to the next level. In the 2nd quarter, we are joined by Paul Cutsinger, the head of voice design education at Amazon where he works with developers to design and develop the next generation of customer experience; a voice based user experience. Paul introduces us to Alexa, Amazon’s cloud based voice control system which operates through the Amazon Echo, and we get a sample of what Alexa is capable of doing. Paul explains how voice activated programs will eventually become a natural part of our lives as this technology grows from building smart homes to creating smart cities where we could ask a light post for directions… and get them. We also talk about how we are in the beginning phase of this technology and how it is evolving rapidly. Special Guest: Paul Cutsinger In the 3rd quarter, Jimmy Bako gives us our Quote of the Week from Daymond John and throws in an extra one from Captain Jack Sparrow.  Paul Cutsinger tells us how the Alexa technology can benefit entrepreneurs and how businesses are extending their business model to include Alexa for more access points. We also talk about how we can build skills for Alexa and share them with others plus, Paul gives us some examples of what other developers are doing with this technology in hackathons. KKNW Studio: Jimmy Bako and Paul Cutsinger In the 4th quarter, Paul explains how Amazon Alexa teamed up with AngelHack, the pioneers of global hackathons, for nine events this year and gave entrepreneurs around the world a chance to learn about the Alexa technology and use it for their startups. May shares how she helped grow six successful companies to as large as $100 million in annual revenues by tapping into her intuition as a guiding force. May explains how we can enable our intuition to help us by being clear on our goals and describing them with gratitude as though they already completed. By doing this, intuition shows up as a impulse to take a spontaneous action which supports what we are up to. Special Guest: May McCarthy In the 3rd quarter, Jimmy Bako gives us a boost from our Quote of the Week and shares how our language frames our perceived reality.  May tells us how our brain remembers the disappointments in our lives and instinctively protects us from more perceived harm by creating a controlled environment that could actually be prohibiting intuitive thoughts from entering our space. May describes how we build neuro-pathways in our brain through repetitive ways of thinking and behaving which eventually become Mind Grooves which can show up as being in a rut of safe behavior with predictable outcomes. She also tells us how we can break out of these self-imposed restrictions by using this natural phenomenon to our advantage.
