Why Core Values In Your Law Firm Are Important (Ep 81)

This week on the podcast, we are diving into the importance of having core values and why your core values should be front and centre of your business. As a business owner with a team, life becomes much easier when you attract staff who share similar core values to the company they are part of. Having alignment in your business allows everything to flow freely. Core values in my law firm were something that I didn’t have in place in the early days of my business. If you have a small team, you may not see the value of identifying your core values. However, from my experience, I wish I had identified the business core values earlier. I would have saved myself from making many mistakes, particularly around hiring! In my firm, we have engaged an external HR company to come in and consult with us from time to time, which has helped us to build upon our values and other aspects of our team structure. In my law firm, as a team, we created core, firstly with the leadership team, then with the team as a whole. Each team member stands by our core values and understands the importance of streamlining our mission. As a team of one, or as a team of many, implement your core values sooner rather than later. Create a day where you are offsite and use it as a team-building exercise. Each year, in my team, we go on a team retreat to debrief, relax, and reevaluate our core beliefs! Your core values are what helps to shape the vision and culture of your company. They are the essence of the companies identity and have many advantages, externally and internally. In the podcast, I discuss my business values and how they are applied to our work environment. If you want to uncover the secret sauce of how I have built my law firm to 7 figures, the Scalable Business Lounge is the place for you! With over 12 months worth of Masterclasses, Hot Seats, formulas, workbooks, and much more! Intake is limited, so get in quick to make 2022 the best year yet for your law firm! 5 Steps To Up-leveling Your Personal Brand (Ep 80)

Today on the podcast, we dive into how your personal brand can help your business to flourish. People don’t buy from companies; people buy from people - so hiding behind your business brand won’t help you attract clients and scale. Putting yourself out there and creating a personal brand can be challenging - particularly for lawyers! There are so many doubts that run through your mind & often, perfectionism can hold you back. When marketing your law firm or business, you should be marketing in multiple ways. My recommendation is that you don’t put all of your eggs in one basket when it comes to marketing; you need to spread your marketing between paid traffic, referral traffic, and organic traffic. When you tap into your personal brand, your referral and organic traffic become much more powerful. Investing time into your personal brand is well worth the effort because it doesn’t matter where life or business takes you. You can take your personal brand with you. So, where do you start this personal brand journey? Listen to the podcast to dive into the below formula! Unpack your brand story! Get clear on who your community Is; Create your messaging; Capitalise on content; and Get over the fear factor of putting yourself out there! In the Scalable Business Lounge, we research creating your brand and ensuring you are tapping into your niche. Diving into the depths of your unique personal brand is vital, and you need to ensure you are doing it correctly. The Scalable Business Lounge will allow you to master your personal brand, show you how to gain more freedom, and implement the most suitable tools for your business to scale. How To Avoid Undercharging Your Clients In Your Law Firm (Ep 75)

In a legal business, charging for your service can be challenging. Whether you like it or not, we can get emotionally tied to our clients and feel empathetic or stressed about charging for our service. As a Lawyer, there have been many times where I haven’t charged my clients properly as I have thought, ‘Oh, I feel guilty because of their circumstance, or I will just quickly do that little thing, and it won’t be a big deal.’ However, all of those tiny issues add up over time and also cause other issues with your client as your progress their matter or service. As business owners, we are often more lenient, and we don’t follow our procedures, making it easier for us to undercharge. However, how would you feel if one of your legal team members decided not to charge for a service they had provided on your time? So, how do we charge a client confidently? 1.Implement an effective price strategy; This is built on the knowledge, confidence, and practice of understanding your client’s needs - Know your client, inside out! 2.Offering a lower price won’t attract more clients; If anything, it will attract bargain-hunting clients who don’t appreciate the training and experience you have had. Also, you are undercutting your value, suggesting that your service isn’t worth a higher fee. 3.Your client’s money is none of your business! It isn’t up to you to decide whether or not your client can afford it; it is up to your client to determine whether they want their issue solved by your business. If they don’t want the service you provide, they won’t come to you. 4.Set clear boundaries! Before the legal matter commences set clear boundaries. Ensure you have your costs agreement signed and that you have clearly explained the expectations. Charge for what is set out in your costs agreement and stick to your processes. For example, you wouldn’t pay for economy seating and then sit in business class, so why are you prepared to do the same for your service? Attract the right clients and be clear about what value you are charging for and how that value will solve their legal problem. So let me leave you with this. You pride yourself in your legal service, and you have worked hard to get where you are now. Charging a fair price allows you to do your best work, and your client deserves the best service you can provide! On the other hand, Undercharging builds resentment, which is not in your clients best interest. Bye for now! How To Produce Consistent Content Without Stress! (Ep 73)

This week I share with you how to create content consistently without stress and difficulty! Creating content for our business is essential in the competitive market because the more we can be seen and heard, the more people will likely connect with you. Then when your ideal client has a problem, you are at the top of their mind as the solution. If you hide in the back of your business and don't show your face or share your voice, it will be more difficult for you to create a connection. You can't sell a secret - your message needs to be loud and clear! So, how do you create consistent content without hard work and stress? Schedule in your non-negotiable content Schedule in your non-negotiable topics for the weeks ahead and set aside time in your diary every week to create your content. For example, my non-negotiable is our Tuesday Podcast. Yours may be a blog, video, Q&A or Facebook Live to name a few. *Hot Tip!* The most challenging part about non-negotiable content is deciding the topics. My students in the Scalable Business Lounge have a session where they have to write out 26 topic ideas which will keep them creating for six months; therefore. The thinking has been done in one hit. I recommend this strategy! 2. Strategy is key! Ensure you have a clear strategy that speaks to your ideal client. When you are creating your content, have your target audience in mind. Ask yourself, is this what my ideal client needs to hear? Messaging is critical. Speak to your client’s pain points. Also, ensure you add a call to action, i.e., Free Downloadable, free initial consultation, etc. 3. Bulk, bulk, bulk! If your schedule doesn’t allow for the non-negotiable content every week, ensure you are banking aside a time every six weeks or so to pump out that content in one session. This way, you can create a great flow and consistency! Your future self will thank you. 4. Systemise:Have a system that you repeat each week or month to ensure what you are doing is away from you and simplified for someone else to take care of for you. Spell out precisely what you need, and pass it onto your VA, PA, or team member. Then use that one core piece of content multiple times on your social media platforms. A podcast? Make it into a social media post, blog post, and story for your socials. In the Scalable Business Lounge, I dive into each of my students' businesses and implement the best way of systemising to scale. I have automated my law firm into a well-oiled machine that gives me time to work on the business rather than in it, and now I am devoted to helping law firm owners do the same. How To Systemise To Scale and Create More Freedom In Your Business (Ep 71)

This week on the Being Unstoppable Podcast, we are tapping into making your business run like a well-oiled machine when you aren't there. You cannot scale your business beyond you unless you have systems and automation in place. Ask yourself, if you were to step out of your business tomorrow for six weeks, would everything run perfectly without you? If not, the Scalable Business Lounge is for you! I guide you through exactly what you need to systemise your law firm and give you more freedom. In SBL we implement strategies that will help you to scale. So how do you create less work and more profit through systems and automation? Let's get into how you can begin to implement them into your business! *Reminder* Systemising is not a one-off job! Creating systems in your business is ongoing, with constant updates and new systems. - Patience required! Make a list of your most recurring tasks. What are your daily, weekly, monthly, yearly tasks and obligations? Write them down and identify what it is you need to systemise. I have a basic rule that I go by. If I need to do something more than once or get asked a question more than once, systemise it! 2. Decide on a directory or structure.Having these systems in a place that is easy to access for your team is essential. You could do this in many different ways; however, a few tremendous document-sharing platforms are Dropbox, Google Documents, Loom, or creating a free Google site. The process needs to be streamlined with all documents in the same place, making it easy for your team to access. 3. Break down each activity.Once you have the list of every repetitive task in your business, then you need to break it down into the below four pillars; The process The tools that are required to do the task The people needed to do the task The strategies What is necessary for each pillar? 4. Identify ways to improve the system.Just because you have established a system doesn't mean it is the best way or that it will work right away. The system doesn't always work when you first create it - trial and error is how you will unravel your most sustainable/effective strategies. Eliminating bottlenecks and streamlining is your systematic goal. Ask questions, critique, and make changes to your new system as you go. 5. Test the system for 4-6 months, then update.Once you feel you have perfected your system in step 4, it is time to run with it! Test the system for 4-6 months, then come back to review. Did this system resolve the issue, and did it meet the goal? The whole thing with systems and automation is to allow you more time; is that what this system did? Put a meeting time in your calendar for 4-6 months after establishing the system and review it with your team to discuss improvements. Systems take a while to perfect, but you will thank yourself when you have more freedom because your business runs perfectly without you. So start Start slowly, don't rush these automations. Know that it will take time. Yes, creating systems may be time-consuming, but this is the primary way that you will scale your law firm and have more freedom! If you want to free up more time, I guarantee this strategy will set you up for just that! If you would love to dive deeper into exactly how to create these systems, I have just the place for you! How To Create A Powerful LinkedIn Profile That Can Help Bring Clients Into Your Business! (Ep 70)

Don’t underestimate the power of LinkedIn! If people who can refer you for work or your clientele are on LinkedIn, it is a powerful social media platform that can help you scale your business. Not only that, but LinkedIn also plays a significant role when trying to build your brand or business profile. If you are active on LinkedIn, you will notice your brand will grow, as will your opportunities. When using LinkedIn to grow your business, it is not only about posting content. Having your profile are set up correctly is also really important. Your LinkedIn profile should reflect three things;Who you are; Who you help; & What you offer. So, how do you uplevel your profile on LinkedIn? 1.You need to choose the right profile picture for LinkedIn: Your profile picture will not be the same picture that you would use on your Facebook or Instagram - it should be a professional image of yourself. You can still show personality, but maybe not one of you is out drinking or in your wedding dress! I recommend using the same photo that you would use on your website, preferably a headshot. 2.You should use the LinkedIn banner to your advantage: The landscape image above your profile picture on LinkedIn is an excellent opportunity to post an image of your business or offering. Rather than keeping it plain or using a “weekend” image. Allow this section to explain what you do. 3.Turn heads with your headline: Instead of just using your mainstream headline, i.e., Family Lawyer, Criminal Lawyer, Tax Lawyer - switch it up! Tell your audience who you help and what problems you solve.‘Leading an incredible team of legal professionals at Collective Family Law.Helping other law firm owners scale their business without burnout.” Stand out by speaking directly to the person you want to attract. 4.Perfect your summary section: Turn your summary into a story about how you impact and help people - what problems do you solve for them? Many people leave this section blank, but it is a perfect opportunity to show off just how fabulous you are and share your skillset. But remember to talk about your reader and not just yourself. 5.List your relevant skills: This is a speedy way to identify your skills and exactly what it is that they do—ensuring that your profile is clear on how you help people. You can just go through the list and select your primary skills so that your audience is clear on who you are. 6.Update your experience, links, and contact details: Go in and update all of your experience and contact details. Ensure that this all is professional, in-date, and clear to read. People don’t have time to connect the dots, so ensure they don’t have to! The same goes with your links; always ensure your website link is clear and works! It is a great idea is to pop in your calendar every 6-months, do a LinkedIn audit, and just go over to re-jig everything. 7.Featured information and images: This is a great area to showcase what you have recently been up to. It is a great way to show people what your involvement is in your industry visually. For example, you could showcase your business, podcast, team, or event. So now that you have a shiny, transparent, and neat LinkedIn profile - It is time to expand your network! How can we do this? See below! It is easy to find contacts/businesses that are suitable for you. For example, If you are in financial planning - you can reach out to all of the financial planners in your area and connect with them. All you need to do is pop into the search bar ‘Financial Planners’ and your local area, and you can connect that way. Another way to connect is by going to like-minded people’s profiles and connecting with people from their accounts. LinkedIn is also a great on-the-go business card! One of the things that LinkedIn provides is a QR code to make it ultra-easy when exchanging details. Engaging in conversations and posts will also do wonders when creating referrer/business relationships and is super easy to do! Like, comment and message! How To Manage and Train Your VA For Success with Brieanna Baird (Ep 69)

Today on the podcast, we are following on from last week’s podcast, where I talked about the benefits of hiring a Virtual Assistant. Today on the podcast Brie my assistant and I talk about how we have dealt with hiring our VA’s and the different challenges that arise. Brie does all of the recruiting, hiring, and training of our VA’s, which has helped us scale and given Brie the freedom to engage in higher-end tasks. Top Tips To Ensure You Have A Successful Hiring Process: 1.Communicate: The hiring process is super important when hiring a Virtual Assistant as it is vital to communicate the main tasks to your VA so there is no confusion later down the track. We have found that if the main tasks aren’t explained thoroughly, it can result in the VA negotiating their rate if they view it as more specialised or leaving the job. 2.Your VA will have networks: Once you have an interview with your VA, you may have found that some of the jobs don’t align with their skills. However, we have other VA’s through people that are in their network. 3.Create a Job Description: Any task you can think of from A-Z, include it in your job description! You can never be too thorough in your hiring process. Create a document including everything that you need them to do, run through it within the interview as well as send them the document. This way, you allow your VA to process the job, think about it and then get back to you. How Do You Best Choose Your VA? 1.Zoom! The best way to interview your VA is face to face on Zoom. A big issue you may run into if you are hiring from the Philippines or other countries is the language barrier. This can easily be assessed by asking questions and listening to responses. Within the first few minutes, you will determine if they can communicate well. 2.Salary: Salary is often where a cultural issue can occur. We have found that negotiations can begin if outside jobs aren’t included in the job description from the interview stage onwards. Once you have agreed on a salary, ensure all of your jobs are included so that there are no misunderstandings. 3.Get examples of work: If you have a few VA’s that you think would be a good fit for your business and are struggling to choose, it is vital to assess them based on their work. Give them a task or two to complete to see if they are up to standard. What Is The Best Tech/Strategy To Use To Onboard A VA? 1.Routine! Get straight into a routine when you hire your VA, it is never too early, and this is where the employer and the VA do the best learning. Brie sends out a Monday morning email to her VA’s, stating what the weekly tasks are, and each day she sends out a list of what needs to be done within the 8 hour day. Daily, weekly and monthly tasks are best managed using an app called Trello. Trello allows you to organise tasks in priorities, due dates, and columns to ensure you can see precisely where your VA’s are throughout the day. Whenever you have repetitive tasks, we use an app called Loom. Loom allows you to film what you are doing on your computer and record your voice to ensure your VA has a video they can watch over and over to save you time and questions. 2.Establish your main point of communication: All VA’s like to be contacted via different platforms. Whether through emails, Zoom, or Whatsapp, it is vital to ensure you have the central platform you come back to. Brie uses an app called Lark, a free app that allows you to voice call, video call, or messages. To hear more about exactly how to pick your perfect Virtual Assistant, listen to the podcast! Having a VA allows you to focus on high-end and non-repetitive tasks, which will enable you to focus on scaling your business. Yes, it might take effort and patience to set your new VA up and get them working to your standard, but once they get into a routine, you will be thanking yourself for all of this free time you now have! If you have any questions for Brie regarding how she hires her VA’s, please DM me, and I will have her answer for you! Why You Need A Virtual Assistant And How To Hire One (Ep 68)

Would you like to learn how to scale your law firm without burnout? If so, I have created A FREE MASTERCLASS FOR LAW FIRM OWNERS where you will learn... How to stop making the three biggest mistakes that keep you overworked and underpaid in your law firm. What to focus on instead so that you can truly move the needle forward to scale your law firm. How to unlock the formula to create more profit and freedom in your law firm! If this sounds like something you are interested in, click here to give it a watch! Now, onto this week's poddy! If you have too much on your plate, it could be a great idea to hire a virtual assistant. But where do you start? I have scaled my family law firm from 1 employee to 15, including 2 Virtual Assistants. A VA is a virtual assistant, where they work from their own space and not in your office. This means you can hire a VA from anywhere in the world, the advantage of this is that the cost can be considerably less depending on which country they are located in. To start working on your business and not only in it, but you also have to leverage your time. This is where hiring a VA can be a huge benefit. Getting the low-end tasks off your plate, such as raising invoices, chasing debt, or running your social media accounts, can free you up to do high-end tasks that move the needle in your business. 1.Where do you get your VA from? VA Agencies: There are agencies for VA’s in Australia and New Zealand, which will do all of the hard yards for you including interviews, shortlisting, and communicating the overall job description. This will cost you more than if you get a VA directly, as an agency VA will be averaging around $11.00 - $12.00 per hour. When going through a VA agency, the accounting process is also systemised to be in a monthly tax invoice, in your currency, and including tax which makes the system a lot clearer when it comes to paying your VA than it would if you employ directly. Employ Directly: Another way to hire a VA is to do it individually by hiring a VA directly from a website where you can find different VA’s. We have previously used onlinejobs.ph which is based in the Philippines and has a monthly subscription rate of $60.00 per month. This way you can employ reliable candidates for your jobs, or put jobs out there for assistance. This type of VA will then charge through systems like TransferWise or PayPal, which you will need to keep organised and updated. PSA: Don’t forget, you don’t need to hire a VA full time! You can hire part-time or even casually. You can also hire VA’s for particular areas in your business, for example, bookkeeping, social media, graphics, or as your personal assistant. 2.What are the benefits of hiring a VA? You don’t need a physical office. Your VA may be based working from home, or sometimes they can work from an office, you don’t need to create an office space for them, either way. They are inexpensive. I have hired mainly from the Philippines, where the hourly rate is between $4.00- $11.00 per hour, depending on where you have hired them and their capabilities Side note: Another fab thing about hiring from the Philippines, is that they are only 2 hours behind Australian time, so they typically have very similar work hours to you. Delegation. Sometimes you can be the biggest bottleneck in your business. If you have someone to flick work off to, this prevents low-end jobs from being backed up in your possession. You have more time to give to high-end tasks, where your strengths lie. If you listened to a podcast a few episodes back, I discussed the importance of taking a personality test. I discussed why working in your zone of genius, and why putting your time into tasks that play to your strengths lie is vital in helping you scale your business. So, I am giving you the challenge now to write down what are the tasks that you could delegate right now to a VA or several VA’s? Are there more than 5 repetitive tasks you complete each week that are preventing you from working on high-end tasks? Next week, we have my Personal Assistant, Brie coming on the podcast to give you the exact methods and tech she uses to successfully onboard, train, and effectively use Virtual Assistants, so keep an eye out for that next Tuesday! Until then, don’t forget to like, subscribe and if you have any questions, DM me on my socials below! The Tech You Need To Automate Your Client Onboarding Process (Ep 67)

Hello and welcome back to another week of the Being Unstoppable Podcast! This week, we are following on from the client onboarding process episode last week by breaking down the tech you need to make your client onboarding system seamless & satisfying. When scaling your business, the most important thing is to ensure that the foundation of the business is indeed built into a scalable model. There is nothing worse than building a business that needs you there 100% of the time. It is like having a newborn baby in your care forever! We are so lucky because, in this day and age, we don't only have team members, we have an entire collection of simple tech to help us to scale and grow our business’ beyond ourselves. There are so many incredible platforms out there that can help you in your business, in this podcast, I talk to you about the tech that I use to help us with onboarding clients in my law practice. These items are relatively inexpensive, and once you get them up and running, they can be incredible in the way that helps you leverage your time. The main objective when onboarding clients is touchpoints! Before they engage you they need frequent touchpoints, and once they are onboarded in your business they need to feel nurtured, which requires, you guessed it… TOUCHPOINTS! CRM System A CRM system is a customer relationship management system, which is incredible when onboarding your clients! Often people use their CRM system for marketing and getting clients into your funnel, but you can also use it once clients have engaged your firm as well. There are many CRM systems out there, they keep you connected to your customers, streamline processes, help improve sales and profitability. A CRM system is a MUST in any small business, and we cover the exact CRM system that is best for you in the Scalable Business Lounge. A few CRM systems are:Mailchimp; Active Campaign; and Pipedrive 2. Automated textsAutomated texts are the perfect as reminder’s, asking for them to leave a review after the meeting, a thank you message, whatever it may be this is an automated way to contact your client. We use Law Tap, which works super well which offers a booking system and texts. However, we used to use Direct SMS which was great if you are looking for just SMS automation. 3. Calendly Instead of going back and forth with appointment times, get a calendly account! This way you can fill in your availability, send the client a link and they book a time that suits them! This will save you and/or your admin team plenty of time and automate the process. 4. BonjoroBonjoro is a great tool to make a point of difference for your clients by sending them a personalised video welcoming your clients to your business. This is a fantastic way to welcome clients to your business as they are onboarded and is also a great way to surprise and delight your clients! 5. A Client PortalThis is something I have used many times as a client, but have only just implemented it into my own business. A client portal is a way to share information and make it easy for clients to find everything they need relevant to your business and a way for clients to communicate. I like to get my admin team to introduce this to each client using Loom, to make it easy, automated, and simple to use for all of your clients. For a business I previously ran, I used a platform called clinked which was simple and easy to use! 6. DropboxDropbox is a great tool for onboarding as it can be your designated place to leave all relevant documents in there, and that way you can simply send them the link and you can both see/work on the same documents. This is the perfect onboarding tool as it is simple, easy to use, and very accessible for both client and lawyer. 7. YoutubeYoutube, you can create videos, to onboard your clients and do it via a hidden link. What this means is that you can upload your video to Youtube, and then you can set it only to be viewed if they are sent the link. This is a great way to welcome clients, show them how to use the client portal, to train your team or anything you feel you may need to repeat in your law firm! How fab is automation!? These are a few of the tech tools I have used in my business to automate and efficiently onboard clients in order to scale. If you would love to watch a FREE workshop on how to scale your business, DM me 'SCALABLE' through one of the links below, and I will send you all the details you need! Until then, bye for now! Best Practice For Onboarding Clients - Never Lose Another Client Again Due To A False Start! (Ep 66)

Welcome to another episode of the Being Unstoppable Podcast! This week, we will be diving into the Client Onboarding Process and talking about how to successfully nurture your new client’s through the first stages of your service. There is nothing worse than successfully retaining a new client, for the relationship to start off rocky or for them to leave your business in the early stages. I recently had an experience whereas a customer, I was excited to invest in a top-tier package from a reputable brand. I was enticed by their convincing sales pitch, and as soon as I paid for the service & signed the documents, the incredible service stopped. As if the business were thinking "okay great, we have her now & our job is done." I was left feeling like I had wasted my money and that I had been forgotten. What happened next… you will have to listen to the podcast for the full story. This is a common mistake that is often made in business. In this week’s podcast we discuss why it is so important to have an onboarding process that works for every client so that you can build a business full of raving fans. So, what is the process for a successful client onboarding experience? 1.Have an onboarding system in placeIf you have a team, you need to ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding onboarding. In addition, your team will need to be aware of precisely what will happen to the client and who will do what. In my law firm, Collective Family Law, our process is systemised so that we always welcome every new client’s in a smooth transition from lead to client. 2.Start the relationship off on the right footIf you create trust in the relationship between your business and the client, you will be off on the right foot, leaving your new client feeling confident that they have chosen the perfect law firm for them. You will set the tone for an ongoing, positive ongoing relationship where your client’s expectations of your law firm are set. This will save you from putting out future fires and increase referrals to your firm and help you gain positive reviews. 3.What are the best practices for onboarding clients? Understand your customer. You should know back to front your client's persona and what unique obstacles each of your clients has, and what their pain points are. For my law firm in family law, even though 95% of matters are not urgent, we know that their persona and pain points lead them to believe that their matter is of the 5% of urgent matters. We understand that our new clients need immediate attention and support from our firm. They need these touchpoints to feel that again, we have got them. Set clear expectations. Before a client retains you, they must know exactly what to expect from you, your business and what your team's process looks like. Setting your client's expectations up throughout the onboarding process as well as during your sales practice will save you time and time again. It is vital to reiterate the value of your service and what your client should be prepared for, including potential setbacks. Informing clients of potential setbacks will lead you to avoid disputes and misunderstandings. Show value. Before your client engages your firm, you need to emphasise the value of your service and exactly how it will transform them. Informing your new client on how your service can help change their circumstances will help them focus on their goals, where they are heading, and how your law firm can help them get the results they desire. Stay in constant communication with your client. Don't assume that your client is aware of every step that is before them. You and your team know every step, but don't assume your client does as well. Without undermining your client, explain to them exactly what the plan is for them. Put it in uncomplicated terms that even a 4-year-old could understand and outline every single step. You can never over-communicate! Remember your client may have never been in this situation before or they may have never engaged a lawyer before. Go above and beyond. Your goal is to impress your client so much so, they refer you clients or leave you a raving review! This is what will make all the difference to your law firm growth and create a reliable name for your business. In my law firm, we go the extra mile to 'surprise and delight' our clients. What we do to surprise and delight our clients is sending them a custom box full of wellness goodies. Even if you are a solopreneur, it is important that you have processes in place for every aspect because as your team grows, you can have over your process. How Taking A Holiday Can Improve Your Business (Ep 65)

Welcome back to the podcast! This week I am coming to you from my office on the Gold Coast, but not for long! This week I am off to New Zealand for two weeks which is so exciting as I haven't visited home for a long time due to Covid! Today I wanted to talk about just how important it is as a leader to take time off, to reset, rest and recharge to become more productive and be at the peak of your performance! I know it sounds counterintuitive that going on holiday can make you more money and more productivity, but it really can! If you are new to business, it can feel like you are bogged down and can't take a break - this is exactly when you need to take a break. The whole reason you started your business was so you can have more time and freedom, right? Before COVID, I was taking long breaks frequently. From 4-6 weeks at a time and Christmas breaks and flying places for extended weekends. Since COVID, I found that I was getting very bored and bogged down at home, which is the number one cause for unproductivity. When you are fresh, your well-being is at its peak, and you can perform at a higher level! When you break up your day-to-day work life, you will find that you will enjoy what you do when you get back to your business! If you are a person working 50, 60, 70 hours per week, perhaps you can't turn your emails off on the weekend - you need to tune out so you can recharge. The chance to escape your daily routine will revitalise and reset your mind so you can be a better leader. Not yet convinced you can or should take a break? Let's go through the top points as to why it will benefit your business: 1.Having a holiday can reduce stress; When you take a break, it can reduce your stress. It allows you to take time away from routine and responsibilities. You go somewhere completely new so that you can switch off your regular thoughts and relax! Once your stress levels come down and you return to your routine - you will be a renewed human who loves what they do. 2. There are physical health benefits; Who said Cosmos on the beach isn’t good for you? Once you begin to relax and loosen all tensions in your body, you will find that your thought process and state of mind will be clearer when you return to work. Too much stress can lead to a whole range of health issues that will catch up with you. Overeating, sitting for too long, lack inactivity can all lead to poor physical health, getaway and reset your mind to produce peak physical health! 3.Your brain will thank you! Mentally, tuning out of your day-to-day life will do you a world of good. When you have the enormous burden of a business, a team, clients, home life, it can be overwhelming at times, which can rapidly decrease your productivity. Once you slow down on your holiday, your creativity comes back because you have the mental capacity to hold onto it! You can see why turning off does more good than bad. It will help you to reconnect with yourself and align your priorities. At the end of the day, you aren't built to work yourself to the bone, and you only have one life! 4.When you have something to look forward to, life is better! You are so much more satisfied with your life. You feel happy and content. Taking regular holidays can help to create a healthy work/life balance that makes you happy! It is an excellent chance to spend time with the ones you love and reflect on your wonderful life. You did not start a business, so you can work your butt off 1000 hours a week. You started your business so you could have more freedom and time with those who you love. You don't want to be working for the worst boss you have ever had, yourself! Be kind to yourself and add holidays into your schedule. 5.Time off = increased creativity! As a business owner, you are the visionary! There is no other person in your business to be the visionary you can be! You are in the driver's seat, so you can see where it can all go wrong if you don't feel inspired? Taking a holiday will give you the time to read the books you want to read, relax in a beautiful environment as well as repair your brain to make space to scale! So, you're convinced that it is time for a holiday? Now, how exactly do we get this holiday on track? You need to systemise your law firm so that you can step away and know it is in safe hands! When you have reliable systems in place for your business, when you are absent - there is no need to worry! Your staff and yourself will know exactly what needs to be done, where, when, and how.If you have the certainty that things are still going to be getting done as if you were there, then you can easily step away and go on holiday. This may mean that you jump online to give your staff tasks for an hour a day while you are on holiday or to approve tasks to ensure you don't come home to an inbox of emails. To be engaged with your family and loved ones is so important. It doesn't need to be a whole week or more, but spare yourself two nights in a road trip distance to appreciate the states we live in and get inspired! I challenge you to lock something in today for the future holiday you are going on. Have your downtime so that you can be the best business owner possible! DM me where you are off to, I would love to know! I will be sharing my New Zealand trip on my Instagram, so jump on over and maybe even get some inspo for your upcoming holiday! Why Doing A Profile Test Can Help You In Your Business (Ep 64)

Now that Dancing CEO is over and the whirlwind of raising nearly $40,000.00 for women and children in domestically violent homes, I am turning my energy to the Scalable Business Lounge. The Scalable Business Lounge is the exact place to come for support and guidance as to how to scale your law firm to create more freedom for yourself and your family. With over 20 years of being a business owner and now running a 7-figure law firm, I guide the members on how to scale their law firms and help them work on your business rather than in your business. To see how the Scalable Business Lounge can help you, fill out the form here. This week in the Being Unstoppable Podcast, I hone into why a personality test can help you in your business. I recently did a profile test for business owners, and it has been amazing how it solidified the strengths and weaknesses I have. This has helped me understand why some business tasks drain me and why others energise me. There are plenty of tests out on the market. However, I was impressed with the profile test by Wealth Dynamics as it is specifically for entrepreneurs or business owners. The results of the test were so accurate for both myself and my senior counsel who is our team leader at my law firm. Why take the test? The Wealth Dynamics test costs $97.00 US, and it is worth every cent to help you understand the dynamics of your team and or who you need to hire. The results highlight how to make things easier for yourself in your business & investments by working smarter, not harder. You can do this by focusing on your strengths and hiring to your weaknesses. It helps to create a clear focus on where your highest talents lie. This means that you can hire people where your shortcomings lie to help you grow your business in a way that you cannot do alone. I want to share my test results with you, and how I am utilising the information projected from the test. When we did this profile testing, it was incredible how accurate it was, and both Jenni and I understood precisely why we hold the roles we do at Collective Family Law Group.I don’t excel at every aspect of my business. That is why I have hired Jenni, as she is my opposite and enjoys the tasks that I am not good at.For me, to then see this laid out in front of us in the test results, I could see what cracks she filled in for me and what I filled in for her. We laughed as it was absolutely hilarious just how ACCURATE this test was! What will result in you doing this test? It will help you to identify exactly what your strengths are, and therefore, you then understand why things flow so much easier for you in different areas. You will then see where your weaknesses lay, which helps you understand why something is so unenjoyable and hard for you, and that is okay!It also helps you avoid pitfalls and takes the tasks you aren’t best at to then go off when making your next hire to fill the gaps!Knowing your strengths and weaknesses are as a business owner can help you to create a team of incredible people. It also helps you to understand your employees better so that they can thrive in your business and make their best contribution. What was the result? The results of the test for me showed that I am a creator! This is very accurate as I love to start new projects, create new things, and forever be inspired by up-and-coming ideas! Whereas Jenni is an accumulator which means that she loves detail and spreadsheets. Many businesses test their potential staff members during the interview process. This is a great idea so that you employ the people you need to make your team complete.Below is a list of all the profile types from Wealth Dynamics: Give it a go! If you have a team, or if you are on your own - I would highly recommend doing the Wealth Dynamics test. The test is extensive, which is great because it goes into detail about where you are, what your strengths are, and where your weaknesses lie. If you are able to insightfully look at these results, you are then able to really progress your business by hiring someone to essentially fill the gaps! Let me know how you go! I would love to know if you sit the test and what progress you will take into your business from it!
