Episode 50: Rhonda Accardo and Jessica Waterstradt
Episode in
The Mamas at Work Podcast
My episode today is really special... I have a mother daughter team, the author and the illustrator of the book "The Acorn and the Oak"! Both Rhonda Accardo and Jessica Waterstradt are wonderfully talented women, and I am honored to have them on the podcast today!
Author of The Acorn and the Oak, Rhonda Accardo believes it was her life’s journey that found the writer in her. Her family roots are from small town America, where a history rich in storytelling is passed down through the generations. Although her first love was writing, she pursued a career in nursing and became a traveling nurse. Rhonda will tell you that it was this path that gave her insight and empathy into the lives of the people she met along the way. Her love of life, people, nature and family roots inspired her writing. Rhonda lives in Northville MI, where she raised three kids and lives with her husband and their two Siberian Forrest Cats. Rhonda and her daughter Jessica Waterstradt, came together for the first time as author and illustrator, to write their first first book The Acorn & the Oak.
Please go to the links below to find them and the beautiful book as well!

Episode 45: Kim Marsh
Episode in
The Mamas at Work Podcast
My guest today on the Mamas at Work Podcast is Kim Marsh. And I will let her introduce herself!
Hi there. Kim here, serving as your guide to The Open Book Company.
I'm a writing coach, editor, ghostwriter and a communications fiend. Oh, and I should mention that I'm NOT a New York Times bestselling author (though, I'm still a worthwhile human).
I help authors, aspiring writers and "but-I'm-not-really-a-writer" writers to find, hone and use their voice. I am here to help you to craft your story verbally (think: job interviews, speeches, presentations) as well as in written format (social, blogs, articles, books). I do this through a coaching practice rooted in empathy, authenticity and self-compassion.
I also love to write with (and for) executive coaches, inspirational speakers, organizational leaders and solopreneurs, helping to get their messages out into the world through books, articles, blogs, speeches, social media copy and more. Great writing starts with great listening and together we'll explore your goals and amplify your voice.
I have fifteen years of experience across the non-profit and corporate sectors under my belt spanning various disciplines including Global Diversity, Equity + Inclusion (DEI) Communications + Programming, Women's Leadership Development, LGBTQ+ Workplace Equity, Human Resources, Project Management, Organizational Culture, Recruitment, Social Issues and Childhood Education.
I would love to hear more about your writing, storytelling and communications goals.

Episode 37: Dr Melissa Reilly
Episode in
The Mamas at Work Podcast
Melissa Reilly, Psy.D. is a mom of two boys, clinical psychologist, and parent coach passionate about helping moms separated from their mother by physical distance, estrangement, or death, move from feelings of insecurity, isolation, and overwhelm to a place of resilience. Through her personal and professional experience, she has come to recognize that Moms without a mom experience grief as part of their motherhood experience, even if they don’t realize it. The relationship moms have had (or didn’t have) with their mothers impacts how they see themselves but doesn’t define them. She believes it isn’t knowledge and skills that create resilience, but rather it is born through overcoming hardship, having a community, and living by one’s values.
She is honored to walk with moms on their journey to becoming the mom they always wanted to be. Melissa’s psychological practice, Shoudt & Reilly Psychological Services, has been serving residents of Berks County, Pennsylvania for over 22 years. She is now expanding her services to include parent coaching focusing on Moms Without a Mom.

Episode 32: Alexis Underwood
Episode in
The Mamas at Work Podcast
Today's guest is named Alexis, but she's affectionately known as the “Branding Queen” by her clients. She's a Jesus-loving, coffee-obsessed, crunchy mama building freedom for her family while helping other women do the same for theirs. She discovered her love for brand and web design through her experience with my first business making keepsake jewelry (Verity and Co Designs). She's always enjoyed being artistic and her background is in science, which means she's thriving in this because it’s the perfect balance of linear thinking and intuitive design.
She's very passionate about helping other mamas find and thrive in a healthy balance between their maternal role and their other God-given passions and talents, so this business is so much more than just focusing on brand and website design. Through her work, she gets to help each woman she works with understand and learn to express her deeper purposes, step into alignment in her faith and with her family, and grow in her business for further financial and time freedom. When she's not working, you’ll find her researching homesteading, tending to her chicken flock, planning or working in the garden, loosely unschooling/homeschooling her toddlers, or cooking something healthy for her family.
