84. Proof That Consistency is NOT the key
Have you been told that to get what you want you have to be consistent?
Me too.
Whether it’s with parenting, fitness, diet, career – being consistent is sold to as the answer to our problems.
If we could just be consistent we would be happier, healthier, more successful.
But having a goal or a mindset of being consistent can actually cause more harm than good.
You don’t have to be consistent to get what you want and what you need.
Today I share how my attempts at consistency led me to overwhelm and burnout, and what I learned to do instead.
Listen today to learn:
Why consistency is sold to us and why our brains are so eager to buy it
How consistency is actually harming us
What to do instead
Mentioned today:
My attempt at 30 days of IG reels – spoiler alert – I did it, but I paid a price

81. Go From Burnt-Out & Overwhelmed to Calm & Present Using These 5 Steps
What if you didn’t have to feel burnt-out anymore?
What if you could feel:
No more mom guilt.
Less exhaustion.
An easier time juggling all the things.
When we tell people we’re stressed out and overwhelmed they tend to recommend self care.
But you and I both know it’s not all about downward dogs and bath bombs.
You aren’t tired and stuck and wanting to run away because you aren’t getting enough water or exercise.
When I was feeling most overwhelmed, crying in the closet, yelling at my family, feeling like a failure, exhausted from the moment I woke up to the moment my head hit the pillow – when I was in that place
The Unapologetic Motherhood Academy was what I most needed.
When the pain becomes greater than the fear, we make changes.
Listen today to learn:
My unusual 5 step process for getting rid of (and keeping rid of) burnout.
How you can learn directly from me and with me!
Why no one is recommending this process

76. How to Reduce Mom Burnout by Doing This ONE Thing
\r\n\n\n\n\r\n\n \r\n\n\n\n\n\r\n\n\r\n\n \n \n \nAs a mom, getting any alone time or feeling rested and balanced can be quite difficult.\nDespite the abundance of self-help books, podcasts, and so-called parenting “experts”, parents still get overwhelmed and exhausted trying to juggle it all.\nMore times than not parental burnout is due to the unrealistic standards and impossibly high expectations we place on ourselves. \nMoms that can ask themselves “What do I really need?” and then give themselves permission to do that thing can catch burnout early before it turns into a forest fire.\nAt the end of the day, it’s a lack of permission that causes parents to feel like they are losing the battle of competing demands.\nThe journey to giving yourself permission has some requirements.\nListen today to learn:\n\n\nWhat giving yourself permission to do things differently looks like\n\r\n\n\nWhat gets in the way when you try to give yourself permission\n\r\n\n\nHow to push through all of these barriers to giving yourself permission\n\r\n\n\nFor all the behind the scenes come find me on Instagram!\nThere you can also learn how to work with me.\nIf you’ve been going back and forth about getting help, take this as your sign.\nWe can do a one hour SOS session or you can apply to work with me in one of my longer-term programs.\nYou can always reach out to me with any questions: sarah@sarahwehkamp.com (The emails go straight to me)\n\r\n\n\r\n\n\r\n\n\r\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\r\n

The Parents Who Podcast Episode 74 | 5 Ways to Get Your Kids to be More Organized
Do you find it impossible to keep the house clean and organized with kids running around it all day causing chaos?
It’s like shoveling snow during a snow storm.
I want to invite other moms or family over but my dirty house won’t let me.
I use to say I’d have people over when my house was totally clean and totally organized.
When all the toys were put away.
When all the dishes were clean.
When there was no danger or someone stepping on a Lego and maybe even the possibility of someone complimenting my decor.
I use to feel isoloated. Like a failure. Unorganized. Frazzled. A bit hopeless.
It doesn’t have to be that way though.
My house is still a mess sometimes, but I have found some ways to reign in the chaos enough to help me feel more at ease, confident, happy in my own house.
Listen today to hear:
The 5 exact strategies I use to help the kids help me keep the house clean and organized
how even the 4 year old helps out
the biggest mistake you might be making

The Parents Who Podcast Episode 71 | The Ugly Truth About Busyness
I saw a photo of one of my friends on the Facebook yesterday.
She was happily swimming in the pool with her family on vacation.
No one was crying. No one was whining. Everyone had their goggles, and there wasn’t any fighting over who was going to be Marco and who would be Polo.
I immediately wondered what kind of magic sauce she had access to that I had missed the line for.
How was she back to pre-pregnancy weight so easily?
How was it that all the kids were so well-behaved?
How do you go on vacation with young kids and not have any stress?!
I don’t know about you, but I find myself caught up in this game of comparison more than I would like to admit.
Even though I know better, I still do it sometimes.
No one’s life is perfect.
And in fact, there is someone out there right now who thinks you have it all together!
Instead of comparing, we have to learn more self-compassion, and focus on more realistic expecations.
Listen today to hear:
all the ways I compare myself to other moms
what to do instead of comparing – comparing almost never lead to any good feelings
Be sure to join the private Parents Who group if you want to really start moving away from the things about motherhood that drive you crazy and move towards the things that make you feel more peaceful and happy (i.e. alone time!)
There is weekly, free personal training in the Facebook group that I don’t include anywhere else.
Plus, a community of moms just like you who won’t judge, and will even encourage!
I also post a lot of behind the scenes photos and daily validation and motivation on Instagram that you won’t find here. Hop over there and follow me!

The Parents Who Podcast Episode 68 | Take the Stress Out of Marriage (How I took Mine from Separation to Connection)
I didn’t know until just a few years ago that I am allowed to prioritize my marriage over my kids.
Yeah.
It’s true.
No one told me that though so I thought it went
1. kids, 2. marriage, 3. me.
I knew I needed to make an intentional effort to step away from the steering wheel, the grocery cart, laptop and laundry room to connect with him, but I was always too tired. And honestly, at the end of the day, I didn’t want anyone touching me or wanting anything else from me AT ALL.
I just wanted to put on some HGTV, curl up on the couch, and veg.
I figured this was just a season and eventually when the kids were older we’d have more time and energy for our marriage.
Cut to having older kids, dates still not happening, and marriage only getting worse.
Chris and I have been through some very dark places.
Separation. Divorce talk. Fights that would reality TV to shame.
Grudges. Resentment. Jealously. Miscommunication.
You name it.
No one’s marriage is perfect. No matter how they act of what they tell you.
Most people had no idea what was going on with Chris and I.
We made the choice to fight for our marriage.
Listen today to hear:
Three magical words that can help you avoid almost any argument or misunderstanding
Two great alternatives to date night
How to find the energy and time for dates
The most important time and way to communicate (the best way to avoid SO many potential arguments)
How to find grey areas (strategies for beginners)

The Parents Who Podcast Episode 66 | Mental Health Days Are B.S.
The other day, instead of driving to work, I started driving to a random nail salon.
I didn’t even feel like it was me driving the car.
I have no idea what came over me.
I took a gut detour.
Instead of working, I ended up spending the entire day on that annoyingly dirty little word – self care.
I took a mental health day.
For me, mental health days are B.S.
Listen today to hear:
where I ended up going instead of work (hint-there are many drinks included)
all the should’s I had to ban in order to have a mental health day
why I probably won’t take another mental health day until my gut forces me to
