Nace en Cádiz el 4 de junio de 1970, comienza a tocar la guitarra con 9 años, ya con 14 años viaja a los los tablaos de Córdoba y Madrid acompañando a bailaores como Antonio Canales y Sara Baras en la Venta del Gato. Cansado de ser guitarrista, graba una maqueta la envía a la discográfica Senador. Grabará 'Yo sueno flamenco' allá por el año 1996. Se rebautiza con el nombre artístico de El Barrio, en honor a su Barrio de Santa María, y bajo un sombrero regalo de su madre publica su primer disco con una gran acogida en Cádiz y Andalucía, aunque también tiene tiempo de salir a presentarlo a pequeñas salas de la capital de España.
