Episode 43: Spiriting

Have you ever let go of the destination and just walked? Allowing the journey to be what it is? Spirit walking, talking, driving and deciding are powerful ways to let go and become a conduit for flow. It’s interesting to see what happens when we simply trust what feels right and go with it. There are many ways to do this and a lot of things that can happen as a result. This week we give you an overview of something we call Spirit walking. It’s a habit that can build into a way of life. Enjoy! Note: If I close my eyes I tend to see arrows or streams of energy guiding my Spirit walks. Thank you to Nelson on the Gold Coast for recommending weekly Spirit walks. Thanks to Bob Axford in Northern New South Wales for sharing your London walk signal Spirit walking. This episode features music and a quote from Josh Kane. The meanings and teachings in Animals are a key part of many cultures all around the world. Totem Animals can come to us in many ways: While walking in the park, while meditating, in visioning Ceremony and in dreams. The ways they can appear are endless. Spirit speaks to us in everything and a common language for that speech is in Totems. Today Ian shares his insights and the insights from some friends at Facebooks Shamanic Community. Episode 41: Labeling

Labeling is an interesting thing to watch. Before we make sense of something, categorise, prioritise and assign importance or meaning to things we label them. Todays show is just a short meditation that lets you notice how we tend to label. You’ll have a chance to spend some time seeing the world without labels. Just seeing what is. Label free meditation and seeing the labeling process has been profound for me. How does it feel for you? This episode features music from Josh Kane. Surrender, that’s surrendering to now as it is and as it constantly continues to change. As now twists, shifts, splits, adapts and flows. Constantly moving and remaining now. In this state of surrender we’re centered and clear, able to act with an open heart… or not. Surrender is allowing ourselves to be at peace… now. Episode 39: Silence

Practicing silence can range from a silent retreat to no TV while eating. How does your silence look? It’s normal to be triggered by silence. It gives us the clarity to see our most subtle comforts and discomforts. Silence is a sensitive and often vulnerable place. Be gentle on yourself and do what’s right for you right now… That may be different tomorrow. This episode features music and insights from Josh Kane. Drop in and visit Josh on tour: www.UhHuhHer.com/tour To get more details on 13 Weeks to Awakening and “Silence Week” go to: www.13WeeksToAwakening.com For more TSATR content: iTunes, twitter, facebook and youtube!!! Meditation Practices There are infinite tools for practicing silence, these are a few you might like: Time alone in nature (let people know where you’ll be if it’s remote). Blocking time for a silence practice or a silence retreat. Use a pad and paper to communicate or write ideas down. Writing something down can let your mind release rather than try to remember or further explore it. If a thought comes up when I’m practicing complete mental silence, I often come back to feeling the vibration of life in my hands or my heart. Any other present moment anchor like the breath, sound or touch works too. Mentally or verbally reciting a simple mantra like “Sat Nam” or “So Hum” can help to silence the mind. A super SUPER powerful meditation practice for profound silence. Episode 28: Yogis In Politics

Many people feel they are victims and have no power. The global crisis of politics, government and leadership has a lot of people scratching their heads, saying “We want change, we know that it’s possible. Can it be done with the systems in place, or do we need to start all over?” Given the nature of our global epidemic, it’s our feeling that we have a great system in place, now what we need are the people with the ability to run it. Mindfully, skilfully, compassionately, with consciousness of the nature of stories and active listening. The best candidates, we feel, are yogis. When we say “yogi” that includes Shamans, Monks or any other spiritual practitioner. There are many historical examples of yogis in leadership positions and it’s starting to become more common again. In addition to being incorruptible, these “yogi’s” can honestly love all people. Focused on solutions that love everyone rather than getting locked into blame and political posturing. They are focused on one thing, serving the community as a whole and that includes EVERYONE. They will say what they believe is true, regardless of personal beliefs It’s selfless service combined with genuine caring! If you’re in the police force, army or a citizen with an opinion, send us a message about how you feel on the topic. Note: I have plenty of happy friends in London, I was living there and struggling before I had a practice and knew who I am. Music for this week’s episode provided by: Inquiri (https://www.facebook.com/inquiri) and Mayumi (https://www.facebook.com/mayumimusic). Episode 26: Choice Part 2

Each moment, each change and each transition through phases is all birth and death in the moment. infinite, perfect, now. You CHOOSE!!!!  Conscious choices, conscious words, conscious gifts of self.  Let it always be a beginning, let now be the time to speak and do. I don’t know why I need to be here doing this but I do for NOW. The next moment is my choice. It’s all a choice. Are you working on what you want or the block? Watching these temptations to shrink or shine, watching the thought patterns to their ends and letting them pass on in peace. Are you ok to gently receive the core of your emotions? Take it slow, breathe deep and smile.  It’s all going to be fine. These tools can help you see proof that your choices can make a clear difference in your life: http://www.13weekstoawakening.com http://pamgrout.com/e-squared The post Episode 26: Choice Part 2 appeared first on The Shaman and The Rockstar.

Episode 25: Meditation Part 4 of 4 (Applied Meditation)

For todays episode we have a New Years GIVEAWAY! Answer this question correctly and you’ll receive an advanced pdf copy of Josh’s unreleased book, “Music, Meditation, Love and Death.” Listen closely to today’s episode for the answer, and leave your comments below. Suerte y amor! The question is: Embedded in our theme song is a sample of some dialogue from an old movie, between a boy, an old man and an officer. Tell us, what is it they refer to as “a young man’s game”? Bonus points for anyone who can also identify the meaning of the dialogue as it relates to this week’s show. (it’s a Two Parter Happy Friday fellow rockstars and shamans, and all else in between!!! Enjoy this episode as we close up our 4 part discussion on applied meditation. We have a choice. Does it all have to be right now? Patience is a virtue and a practice. It’s ok to say no sometimes. It’s ok to not be sure. Just sit with it. Wouldn’t now be a good time to love yourself? We have a choice. Each new year, we think about things we’d like to change. Cycles end and beginnings fill our winter hearts for the ramp into spring. It’s easy to get caught up in the long view at a time like this. caught up in Stories of the future, stories of what we must let go of in the past, and how we expect to change and improve in the coming months. We have a choice. Judgement, Assumption and Expectation. Judgement of right and wrong. Assumptions about who, what, when or why. Expecting the best, or the worst. How do your stories change the way you feel? All, a story. All, a choice. All the little voices of the story, and you decide the plot. The mind can function constructively and even thrive without the negative uses of these three tools. It will happen from time to time, and that’s when the practices of patience and self love have to combine with your doubts or your stories and bring you back to now. to serving what is. We have a choice. It takes awareness to HAVE that choice, but we DO have a choice. Todays show is about practicing meditation as part of your moment to moment lifestyle. Dealing with urges, discomforts equally as pleasures and laughs. no better or worse, differentness or sameness. All perfect. All as it should be, as it is. Welcome everyone to this weeks episode of tsatr Happy New Year!! New Years is a point in time that we can use as a stable place from which to get some perspective. Patterns from last year. What matters for you now? Habit patterns, practice, passion and inspiration. Our focus, intention and intention have a powerful impact on life. One day of focused practice changes how you feel. This has a cumulative effect over time as we consistently practice and build the habit of feeling a certain way. These are some other things we talk about today: Noticing the difference between the experience, and the story about the experience. Watching the storyteller… Mindfulness. The practice becoming something that helps you serve to your fullest. Discomforts/Urges looking at any time we are not at peace with now. Distractions from now, is this a constructive use of storytelling, and action? Attention -> Intention -> Invention. Playing music and being creative, ways to carry on a practice and release in times of doubt or struggle to find stillness. Choosing to enjoy. Choosing to seek what makes YOU comfortable, fills YOUR heart with purpose and delight. The delight of working hard and showing up. Feeling your heart, guiding the light within. Temptation and desire are both an impetus in choice, and we can’t make clear choices until we get clear on what our temptations and desires are and how they affect our experience and visioning choices as future decisions, weighing one against the other. What feels like integrity? This practice can be applied to just about anything. No matter what you do, do it in awareness. Or not! A HUGE THANK YOU to Josh Kane for sharing your amazing music… Thank you! Aho! The post Episode 25: Meditation Part 4 of 4 (Applied Meditation) appeared first on The Shaman and The Rockstar.
