In today's social media buzz we'll discuss Facebook's purchase of WhatsApp, a cool update to the Pinterest extension for Chrome, LinkedIn's blogging feature, Facebook lets other admins see who posted what on their page, Facebook Credit accounts for ads?, and more.

Klout becomes a content curation tool and then gets bought?? Facebook allows you to be any gender you choose. Twitter testing a new layout that looks alot like Facebook. How I screwed up on Google+ and pissed some people off!

Facebook removed the barriers to administering a promotion/contest yesterday. I have a great idea for a product that a savvy marketer should hop on ASAP! I'm too bad of a marketer to do it and too lazy! haha

Instagram just added the ability to record video with their app and immediately everyone wants to know if this killed the Vine app. Instagram has 15 seconds of recording time -- Vine 6 seconds. Instagram has filters -- Vine doesn't. Instagram allows you to edit the video -- Vine nope. Instagram lets you choose a thumbnail -- Vine nada. Instagram videos can be shared to Facebook and played inside Facebook -- Vine only plays on Vine or embedded. Instagram videos don't loop -- Vine videos do. Instagram has over 100 million users -- Vine about 13 million.

Ok.. I don't keep up with news at all. The only "news" I get is via Twitter of Facebook posts. Which is good at times. But overall I don't watch the news, haven't in years. And my life is better because of it. Although when it's a stormy day it catches me off guard because I don't watch the weather at all. But my life is more peaceful without watching the news. Because it's all hype and scare tactics. So this NSA and Prism junk has gotten old and I need to rant about them and privacy online.

After last week's Google I/O some slight changes and updates have been made to the Google+ platform. Primarily cosmetic changes to the look of Communities, Circles and etc. But also a new Android app to mirror what is seen on the desktop.

Today on the Social Media Buzz we'll talk about the hot social media related stories on Mashable.com last week. The biggest story right now is Yahoo buying out Tumblr. We'll also talk about a major social media meltdown that was awesome to watch!
