037: Nine Lives (2016) + The End of The Spacey Space
Episode in
The Spacey Space
Kia ora everyone,
Here's the recording of the October 14 live show of The Spacey Space, where we were joined by some of our dearest friends to watch and laugh about Kevin Spacey's Nine Lives.
In the weeks after we recorded this, Johnny and I started seeing tweets indicating that Spacey had a reputation as a predator or, at the very least, a creep. With more and more survivors of assaults and predation in global cinema and theatre industries speaking out, we decided to hold the episode until someone went public with a story about Spacey, figuring it was only a matter of time.
On October 30, Rent actor Anthony Rapp alleged that when he was 14, he was propositioned and assaulted by Spacey while they were alone in Spacey's apartment. Since then, a number of other men have come forward with their stories of Spacey's predatory behaviour.
We'll be leaving the podcast episodes up for a week before removing the podcast from the internet. We feel it's the only way forward. Thank you for joining us for this ride, and we're sorry we had to end this way. We really value all your friendship and support over the last two years.
