The SSU Career Chat

Career/job burnout can be a touchy subject for many and contains many contributing factors we may not fully understand or be aware of. Join us as we have an open discussion about what career/job burnout is, examples and symptoms, and what to do if you, a friend, or a family member, find yourselves experiencing it, too. We'll talk about burnout from a student and professional perspective, tackle the idea of burnout being taboo, as well as discuss the emotional factors that come with it. This episode is made with the intention of bringing awareness to burnout and compassion to those experiencing it; for many, burnout may be an unfamiliar or uncomfortable topic. 

In this brief conclusion to our second season, all three hosts discuss highlights, memorable moments, and what this podcast has meant for us. We thank all of our listeners and our guests, and we look forward to the future of the SSU Career Chat!

This episode focuses on Dream Careers. I sat down with Anna Luna, a former SSU student who worked on the production teams for Black Panther and Spiderman: Homecoming. She speaks on her time in the entertainment industry and what it is like working for Marvel and her current employer, Netflix. I then interview Carole Migden, a former California State Senator who also is an SSU alumni. She speaks on her time as the first openly lesbian legislators in California's history as well as her time working with Harvey Milk in San Francisco in the time before his assassination.
