24: 17 Proven Fat Loss Strategies
Ask a handful of dieting experts “what is the best way to get lean?” and you’ll likely hear the same thing.
The basics of fat loss are pretty straight forward: eat at a caloric deficit, strength train three to five times per week, increase your activity level and ensure that you’re getting enough sleep.
But if getting lean was truly THAT easy, why aren’t more people flaunting their six packs on Instagram? Editors note: the fitness industry does NOT need more people flaunting their six packs on Instagram … please don’t add to the madness.
Think back to your past attempts at getting leaner.
How did they work out for you? Have you sustained the progress you made? Or did you fall off the wagon before reaching your goal?
If you’re anything like most people, chances are you were able to see a little bit of progress from your efforts, but nothing worth writing home about… and as soon as the “diet” ends, you revert right back to old habits…
… and before too long you’re back to square one.
“Shit!”
The truth is that yes, getting lean IS a straightforward process and it DOES NOT have to be an uphill battle. But the problem arises when a person doesn’t take into account the psychological side of the equation - routines, mindset and habits HAVE to be taken into account.
Pair that up with the proper guidance and accountability, and we have the recipe for success my friend.
In today's episode I share with you 17 of my best strategies when it comes to getting leaner.
I hope that you’ll discover that you can eat the foods you love and still burn fat, you don't have to grossly overeat to build muscle, and that dieting is a tool, not a cross to bear.

23: Personal Development and Finding Your Passion w/ Joshua Schall
Do your goals scare you?
Take a quick second and think about the goals you’ve set for yourself.
Is there anything in there that scares you?
Like really scares the shit out of you.
Like “if I don’t achieve this, I am up shits creek without a paddle, and it’s back to slanging pancakes at the local Denny’s” type of scare-the-shit-out-of-you.
There is? Good; you’re thinking bigger than yourself and it sounds like you’re comfortable stepping outside of your comfort zone. That’s where the growth happens after all.
If not, you need to think bigger. You’ve accepted the status quo and allowed the slow drip of “being average” take hold and direct your path. You are alright with being normal; allowing the opinions and influence of others dictate how you live your life, and you probably don’t even realize it.
The truth is that most people don’t think big enough when it comes to what they want to achieve in this life, and that’s okay - striving for comfort and security is the safe thing to do. Security is the lowest form of happiness.
I hate to say it, but we live in a society of self-entitled, “I want it now, mommy!” quasi-adults who aren’t willing to work for what they want.
Everyone wants the quick fix, path of least resistance, done for you solution.
And that’s the exact reason why I love fitness. Because it’s HARD WORK. You can’t fake it and there is no quick fix. But I digress…
If you’re on fire to create your own life, take ownership of your health and fitness, or want to drastically step outside of your comfort zone then today’s episode is for you.
If you’ve struggled with finding your passion or have been crippled by the fear of trying something new, today’s episode is for you.
Or, at the very least, if you tend to fall off the “health and fitness” bandwagon when traveling for work, today’s episode is for you.
Today’s guest is a close friend of mine, Joshua Schall.
We cover a variety of topics including personal development, the current state of the sports nutrition industry, how to find your passion, overcoming the fear of failing, staying productive despite being a busy person and strategies for staying on top of your fitness while traveling.

Areas of growth that most affiliates are missing out on.

Simple Strategies For The Everyday Athlete
iTunes | Stitcher
Let's face it - you're a busy person.
You have a limited amount of time to devote to training, you work a full time job, you probably have children and hopefully you have hobbies and a social life outside of the gym (I hope)...
And those are all great things. A balanced life is a happy life, afterall.
You probably started exercising for health benefits in the first place, but if you're like most of us, you've become addicted to the process of chasing PR's, learning new movements and pushing yourself on a daily basis.
Even though you're an athlete - and you might be a damn good one - you still have many responsibilities outside of your training, and you have to take that into consideration.
Today's episode will teach you a couple ideas that will support your time spent in the gym and still allow you to have a life outside of the gym.
Thanks for listening. I hope you enjoy!
PS - What would you add to this list? Leave a comment below and let me know.

Simple and efficient meal prep strategies
