In this short podcast Øystein reflects on a discovery he made about Psalm 23 at a prayer meeting he attended. He had read the psalm numerous times before, but never noticed how king David changes the way he addresses the Lord as the hymn unfolds. Hopefully this little devotional can encourage you to know that God is with you always through difficult times.

Rodger and Øystein have a bust up on the meaning of Mathew 5:48! Well not really but we do come at it with different angles with regards to our subject today ???? When we try to do everything perfect, we set ourselves up to fail. And when we fail, like we all do from time to time, it’s easy to beat ourselves up and feel like a failure. Perfectionism kills our joy and our passions. Let’s destroy perfectionism before it destroys us! In this show Rodger and Øystein suggest that perfectionism is based on legalistic strife, while being perfected (the process of sanctification) is a work of grace. We live in uncertain times, and the ongoing corona pandemic can make many of us worried and scared. When something like this happens more people start to ask themselves about what is truly important in life, and in the midst of this adversity Christians have a great opportunity to minister hope to people around us. Then what is hope? In this show Rodger and Øystein propose that hope is not a feeling or a wish; it’s a person, and his name is Jesus Christ! When we have faith in him, we have real hope for this life, and for all eternity. We pray that this podcast will encourage anyone who is struggling to hold on to their hope in this season. What is the connection between being authentic and humility, and can you use authenticity as an excuse for being a bully? We continue exploring the subject of strength in weakness by drawing on the strength of God and The Holy Spirit. What is sin in relation to weakness? And are they the same? The bible teaches that that they are clearly different, but that weakness can lead us closer to God but also further from God (where sin can come in). The kingdom of God is an upside down kingdom where the last shall be first and the least are the greatest. Sometimes we as Christians think we have to show people around us that we are strong and can handle every situation. Weakness is often seen as a sign of little faith, and when we face hardship and pain we just want them to disappear. Paul, on the other hand, boasts of his weaknesses. Sometimes we need to tidy up and get rid of stuff that’s just been lying around and taking up space for long time, and sometimes we don’t even know what we have stored up in boxes and storage places before we look through them. The same is true when it comes to our hearts. In this episode Rodger and Øystein talk about how being real, honest and transparent helps us to deal with stuff in our lives that need to be looked through, sorted out and maybe get rid of. Decluttering our lives can be painful and hard, but here we suggest that Romans 12:2-3, which talks about the renewing of the mind, can lead to a good and necessary path of transformation. Our Identity is found in Christ, and because God has created us, we are valuable in His eyes. At the same time, we are experiencing a crisis of Identity in the 21st Century due to the pressure of performing for one another. Sometimes we forget to be grateful to God and to others, but can living in thankfulness and gratefulness change us on the inside and even affect other people in our lives? We examine the story of the ten lepers that come to Jesus for healing in which only one returned to give thanks and how that affected his life and Øystein shares a discovery of a Greek word for being thankful.
