Though his hall of fame broadcasting career spanned nearly three decades, the biggest impact Bill Schonely had on the Trail Blazers franchise came during his first season in 1970. Episode Four of The Trail features a sit-down with The Schonz as he acutely recalls the first time he belted the words “Rip City”, and how that phrase has transformed the region. Schonely then describes calling the championship game in 1977 and tells his secret to staying sharp and healthy at the age of 86.
