January is pride month at StFX, and we’re celebrating with an episode featuring the LGBTQ community at X! Join Lauren as she interviews Dr. Chris Frazer, history professor and key player in advancing LGBTQ equality at StFX; Claydon Goering, Gender and Sexuality Advisor; and students Henderson Cartwright & Kristen Rolle. We chat about the evolution of LGBTQ acceptance on campus, what homophobia and transphobia look like in 2021, and the intersections of race and being LGBTQ.

Students are at a fragile time in their life. They usually do not have a fixed income, yet they have several expenses. On top of that, they are told to start investing. There is no doubt that personal finance complex. Luckily, during this episode of the Xaverian Files, we are working hard to explain some of the most important finance topics. We’ve all got a story of why we came to St. Francis Xavier University. In our second episode of The Xaverian Files, we explore the stories of three STFX students: Emma Kyte, Abi Kyte, and Maria Cordova. Emma and Abi have a long lineage of family who have attended StFX. Meanwhile, Maria Cordova tells her story about how she ended up in the small town in Antigonish all the way from Ecuador. Out featured artist thus week is Jack Moss from Ottawa, Ontario. As one of few Canadian universities reopening its doors to in-person education this fall, St. Francis Xavier University is being questioned in a way we’ve never seen. In our first episode of The Xaverian Files, we explore the diverse perspectives of students and professors and how they feel about St. FX’s return to in-person education. While some are eagerly awaiting the return of in-person education, others are fearing the potential consequences. We are joined by three guests: Addy Strickland, the editor of the Arts and Community section of the Xavierian Weekly; Dr. Angie Kolen, a Human Kinetics professor and the Coordinator of the Teaching and Learning Centre at St.FX; and Dr. Donna Trembinski – a History professor and the author of Illness and Authority: Disability in the Life and Lives of Francis of Assisi.   Our featured artist was Moira and Claire.
