I had a question come in from a Team 3CX Photography Community member regarding any tips I have for travelling with non photographers.  I think we've all been in this situation were we've been travelling with non creative people when we are the creative that's interested in shooting and taking time to get the shot while the non creative is getting a little frustrated. The age old question what format is better to shoot in JPG or RAW? Honestly, for landscape and nature photography, you would think shooting in RAW would be a no-brainer. But there are just a few reasons you might want to shoot JPG. In this episode of the 3C Show, I run through the pros and cons of both formats and cover what I use and when. Apps can be a really useful tool for planning and scouting your landscape photography. I've been using smartphone apps for almost 10 years, ever since the iPhone 3G. I find them such a valuable tool for giving me the best chance to getting out in the field and jagging that awesome light. Check out the below video to find out what apps I use and recommend. One thing that every photography can benefit from is having a sound understanding of the fundamentals of photography. Knowledge of things like aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, light, and composition make up the core building blocks of photography. Looking back at my personal photography journey I made one huge mistake. The motivation for your photography is the one thing every photographer will struggle with on their creative journey. I want you to know that whatever you're struggling with on your photography journey there is always a way to overcome it and start slowly chipping away at your photo goals again. Chromatic aberration is easy to spot when you get it. It shows up in your photos as a blue, purple or green colored fridge or outline on a subject. Most of the time this happens in areas of a photo where you have a dark to light hard transition. Like a bright sky behind a dark tree. If you have you'll know how difficult it can be to get a clean shot without all those pesky reflections. Glass is such a reflective surface it can be such a nightmare. But sometimes you just have to take the shot and the fact that you have to shoot through glass can be totally out of your control. The most common reasons can be that you can't open the window from your high rise hotel room. Or maybe you're on a train or plane where the windows don't open The good news is I have 4 ninja tips that will give you the best chance of jagging that clean reflection free photo shooting through glass. Something that really makes me angry is when I get told by a photographer, "I was told I have to buy insert name of expensive camera gear here to get great images." It really takes the wind out of your sail and makes you feel like you'll never be the photographer you want to be because you can't afford to drop 2k on that new lens. Well, the good news is gear doesn't matter and it's not the key to being a good photographer. The key to taking great photos is pure creativity it's something you can't buy but with practice and persistence, it's something you can learn. OK, rant over! I usually say that gear doesn't matter but when you mix low light and fast action subjects together gear really can help you get the shot. I'm not saying your current setup won't work for this type of photography but this is about as hard as you're ever going to push your camera. Fujifim has been doing some amazing stuff lately. I was luck enough to get my hands on the Fujifilm Xpro-2 and take it through it's paces. Earlier this year I was in US, where I took this camera into the field for a full workout. I spent 2 weeks traveling around the south west in all types of weather and light conditions.
