Our district is only as strong as the people who work here. At UCF, delivering on the promise to "empower students for success and contribute to society" requires the combined efforts of talented employees with vastly different skills. A modern school district requires not only great teachers but also teams of highly skilled support professionals.

In this series of podcasts we share with you the stories of team members whose contributions are significant but whose faces you may not often see. We share with you some of their personal stories and how their own personal journey contributes to making this a top performing school district.

Join host (and Board member) Bob Sage for conversations with the folks that make this district work.

UCF Podcasts - Episode 2: Pat Crater, Supv of Athletics

Episode in UCF Podcasts
In this episode UCF Board member Bob Sage interviews our new Supervisor of Athletics Pat Crater. This is Pat’s first year at UCFSD and it is the first year of the implementation of a new 7-12 Athletics program.  Pat oversees a program with 1300 athletes, 45 teams and 900 games a year. Hiring and managing good coaches is an key.  The logistical aspects of such a large program are impressive including scheduling, transportation and up to the minute communications and coordination. A unique quality of this podcast series is that it introduces the community to the people behind the scenes, providing deeper insights into the programs and the people who drive them.  Pat shares stories from his childhood and background that ultimately led him here - and this month we learn that both Bob and Pat were high school wrestlers! Pat shares generally what his role is and how he manages the program, his vision for the 7-12 program and how it is better for our student athletes.  Bob and Pat talk about the philosophy around sports - the lessons learned through sports and how the program fits in with the district’s mission to empower students for success.
