Today we're going to be talking about terrible college food. This episode was supposed to be about party culture in college but I got a little...carried away ranting about the recent news that TWO of my school's dining halls were not compliant with Philadelphia's health standards in a recent inspection. The other ones racked up a decent amount of concerns as well, just not enough to count as non-compliant... and guess what? All of the dining halls are still open! Is there such thing as too much alone time? I ask myself this question a lot...and I have a hard time not feeling guilty or ashamed about how often I'm alone. It's hard when most other people my age are in school and I never know what to say when people ask me what I've been up to. Will people think I'm lame for being home so much? Is it bad that right now, I feel like being alone is exactly what I need? Happy New Year! Presenting some lessons I learned in 2022, which was a pretty difficult year for me. Stick around to also hear some of the biggest L's I took this year, from the Lorde concert I went to on 4/20 to burning plastic in rooms with no ventilation and getting hospitalized after my sleepless 2-day trip to New York (after recording, I realized I forgot to include the time I ordered something to be delivered to my dorm and didn't realize it was illegal and sobbed on the phone with my mom at midnight because I thought I was going to get arrested. *this is my personal experience and NOT intended to be college major advice! College major thoughts: is the computer science major worth it for everyone? For those who love coding and want to be a software engineer, it may be a definite yes. But some of us (aka me) are stuck somewhere in between. I've been conflicted about this for a while — growing up just a short trip away from Google, Apple, and Meta headquarters, I never considered the fact that there were career options outside of tech. It offers a lucrative and stable career, yet I can't help but wonder whether it's worth abandoning other passions for. Today we're going to discuss a topic I feel very strongly about: hustle culture. It's the idea that the harder you work, the better; that grinding until you drop is badass even if it damages your health. Because you need to be productive 24/7, right? I’m going to tell you the story of how my obsession with hustling was the reason I had to drop out of college for a year. But in order to understand the full story, we have to go back to 2020 (my junior year of high school). We have to go back to college applications during the height of Covid, and then starting my freshman year of college, and then doing my first summer internship at Microsoft. All of that played a huge role in the situation I’m in today. Luckily I think I came out of the other side with a better perspective..
