Walkabout and Car-Cast with Mike Whiter and Lank. What is wrong with PA SB3 Bill?

Lank and I had an awesome time with Mike Whiter on this cool car-cast and walkabout. We talk about the heinous SB3 Medical Marijuana Bill if you want to call it that. Mike tells a funny story about what it's like to take too much. Enjoy- SB3 can no longer be called a medical marijuana law. It's a "limited cannabis products" bill.

Lank and Jaco: Wake the F Up: #TuffysFight w/Ricardo Rivera and NA Poe

Lank and I had a great time with Ricardo and Poe. We are in an important time in history. Take a listen. If you are a parent you will understand Ricardo's story even more. This is #TuffysFight 8-year-old Camden resident Tatyana “Tuffy” Rivera. At 10 months old, Tuffy was diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that caused upwards of 300 seizures a day at its worst. As a result of her disorder, Tuffy was left unable to speak or feed herself. However, since June 2014, Tuffy’s father, Ricardo Rivera of South Jersey, has been administering medical cannabis to Tuffy in edible candy form. Since then, Rivera says, his daughter’s seizures have “decreased by about 90 percent.” Prior to that, the Riveras had been medicating Tuffy with dozens of different pharmaceuticals to little success. “She was pretty much dying in front of us,” Rivera, who was recently honored by Jersey freeholders for his advocacy, says of his daughter’s condition. “We decided to try something that has a lot fewer side effects, or more mild ones.” However, despite medical marijuana’s success with Tuffy, Rivera and his family have faced an uphill battle at the hands of Gov. Chris Christie’s continued hamstringing of the program. Now, the next phase in the battle is having Tuffy’s school allow her to medicate during the school day, all while dealing with the $500-per-ounce price point and limited dispensary system New Jersey currently runs. “Her brain is so dependent on being able to get this that she seizes more in school than at home,” Rivera says. As for Poe, Tuffy’s Fight is as much a massive failing of New Jersey’s medical marijuana system as it is a cautionary tale for us in Pennsylvania, where we’re currently mulling over a medical marijuana bill. “Without a comprehensive medical marijuana program in place here, most patients and caregivers will face the same uphill battle as the Riveras,” Poe says. “I won’t let that happen here.” Article Via-Philly.com -http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/trending/Marijuana-activist-NA-Poe-takes-on-New-Jerseys-medical-marijuana-laws-by-joining-TuffysFight.html **Update: Since this article was posted Tuffy has now learned to say No and push around on a scooter**

Lank and Jaco: Wake the F Up: HALLOWEEN SPECIAL- W/ CHIP CHANTRY

Greetings all! This is a special Halloween Podcast with our good friend and local comedian Chip Chantry. The three of us chose serial killers from the US. Lank went with Richard Trenton Chase. I went with Robert Hansen and Chip went with the ultimate serial killer- H.H. Holmes. HH Holmes was Americas first serial killer back in 1893. Just in time for the Chicago's World Fair. A handsome, charming and rich fella, HH created an entire block dubbed "Murder Castle" by investigators. You checked in, but never checked out, well at least whole. Sit back and laugh with us as we make some jokes. For some reason we decided that people in the 1890's spoke like 1930's see. See links below for all our killers. Richard Trenton Chase (May 23, 1950 – December 26, 1980) was an American serial killer who killed six people in a span of a month in Villa Park, California. He was nicknamed "The Vampire of Sacramento" because he drank his victims' blood and cannibalized their remains. Robert Christian Hansen (February 15, 1939 – August 21, 2014), known in the media as the "Butcher Baker" was an American serial killer. Between 1971 and 1983, Hansen abducted, raped and murdered at least 17, and possibly more than 30 women, in and around Anchorage, Alaska, hunting them down in the woods with a Ruger Mini-14 and other weapons. He was arrested and convicted in 1983 and was sentenced to 461 years (plus a life sentence) with no possibility of parole Herman Webster Mudgett (May 16, 1861 – May 7, 1896), better known under the name of Dr. Henry Howard Holmes or more commonly just H. H. Holmes, was one of the first documented serial killers in the modern sense of the term.In Chicago, at the time of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, Holmes opened a hotel which he had designed and built for himself specifically with murder in mind, and which was the location of many of his murders. While he confessed to 27 murders, of which nine were confirmed, his actual body count could be over 200. He brought an unknown number of his victims to his World's Fair Hotel, located about 3 miles (4.8 km) west of the fair, which was held in Jackson Park. Besides being a serial killer, H. H. Holmes was also a successful con artist and a bigamist. Thank you for the support. COMING SOON TO PODBEAN.COM: http://wakethefup.podbean.com VISIT: Chipchantry.com

Wake the F Up:Lank and Jaco: DARPAs Super Soldiers, CERN and Chris Christe rant

Wow it's been awhile since Lank and I have done a podcast. We get right back into the flow with no trouble. I honestly think it was one of our best for not having a guest on. We get into DARPAs new program for building super soldiers(link below). Looking to cut out emotions from the soldier as well as a possibility for limb regeneration. Yes the link is InfoWars but DARPA is real and they do weird spooky shit that bring Sci-Fi into reality. Boston Dynamics does the same in robotics. http://www.infowars.com/darpas-next-generation-of-super-zombie-soldiers We get into CERN and the new experiment under way. They turned the Large Hadron Collider back on after 2 years from the discovery of the Higgs Boson "god" particle. The 2 new particles they are spinning around and around will reach 99.9% of speed of light by the end of September 2015. The worry from Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Stephen Hawking that this experiment is very different from the last and could wipe out the Earth from existence. That is a real probability all be it small but still on the table for discussion. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/04/150406083258.htm And lastly my rant to Chris Christe and all corrupt politicians. email us: lankandjaco@gmail.com

Wake the F Up with Lank and Jaco: Weed for Warriors Project

Ricardo Peyreda from Az joins us from Weed For Warriors Project Weed For Warriors Project’s sole purpose is to advocate to the Veteran Affairs Administration on behalf of all Veterans. Founded in 2014, the WFW Project aims to allow Veterans the freedom to use medical marijuana as a recognized medical alternative to harmful psychiatric drugs without any discrimination or unjust actions against the individual. About the WFW Project W4WP was started in the San Francisco Bay Area by an OEF United States Marine Corps Veteran who found relief from his service connected disabilities through Medical Marijuana and the fellowship of other like minded Veterans within the cannabis community. With the help of organizations like SANTA CRUZ VETERANS ALLIANCE, W4WP was able to provide local Veterans with medical marijuana information, a safe place to fellowship with other Veterans and safe access to free medicine with proof of service/ current medical recommendation.

Wake The F Up: Lank and Jaco: Walkabout and Periscope with Mike Whiter and Barrett Thompson

This fun episode was awesome. This is all about raising PTSD awareness. Mike Whiter was back on speaking passionately on his latest mission Operation Over Med. Checkout what USMCLIF.com has to say:Iraq war vet Mike Whiter has combined his love for photography with his desire to help others battling post-traumatic stress disorder to launch a project called “Operation Overmed.” Whiter told NBC10 in Philadelphia, he joined the Marines at 19 and eventually became a Staff Sergeant. After the Iraq War, Whiter was diagnosed with PTSD and was medically discharged. He went to a VA Hospital which placed him on medication. “Over a period of five years I was on 40 different medications. Everything from anti-depressants to anti-anxiety medication,” he said. Wanting to find an alternative to all the prescription pills, Whiter started using medical marijuana. “I threw away my pills and my quality of life is better than it has been in years. I think it is very important to note that cannabis is not a cure for PTSD, but in combination with therapy, it can open a whole new world for you.” http://usmclife.com/2015/06/marine-battling-ptsd-creates-unique-campaign-to-help-fellow-servicemember If you want to get involved or if you are a veteran who wants to participate in the photo shoot go to www.mikewhiter.com

Wake the F Up with Lank and Jaco: Providence RI walkabout

Jaco was just in RI with Lank. We did a walkabout all through Providence. We talk about the new city ordinance that you cannot park overnight without a permit. Fracking and the recent earthquakes happening in fracking states. Is this a coincidence? No, geophysicists have been sent to sections of Texas. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the Dallas area has suffered almost 40 small earthquakes (magnitude 2.0 or higher) since the beginning of this year, the latest a magnitude-2.7 quake near Farmers Branch on Saturday. Many of the epicenters were recorded in Farmers Branch and Irving, with a couple to the south in Venus. We ask a few people on the streets about their feelings on Medical Marijuana. Which is legal in Providence Ri. Come November there is a bill on the table to make RI just like Colorado. Fingers crossed. We hope you enjoy this rare walkabout episode. Thanks Lank & Jaco

Wake the F Up with Lank and Jaco: NA Poe and Mike Whiter-Medical Marijuana

Two great guests join us for a live broadcast. Mike Whiter and NA Poe speak to us about the importance in raising awareness for medical marijuana and recreational marijuana use. Mike Whiter @phlstoner is a cannabis activist and the first recipient of Philadelphia's civil citation for marijuana. He is also the founder of Pennsylvania Veterans for Medical Marijuana. On October 20, 2014, the day marijuana was decriminalized in the city, Whiter lit up a joint at City Hall, with police nearby. He said his motivation is to bring attention to the medical benefits of cannabis, specifically post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He said, "My intention is to point out that Philadelphia finally decriminalized marijuana, that it's the largest city in the country to do so, and I'm here representing veterans who use marijuana for medicine. And we still can't get our medicine legally. I can go out and smoke and get a $100 fine. I won't get put in cuffs, but I'm still not going to have legal access to my medicine." My name is N.A. Poe @nikkiallenpoe, I am an entertainer and cannabis activist from Philadelphia. As a cannabis activist, I've met some incredible people, but few have touched my heart as much as Ricardo Rivera and his beautiful daughter Tatyana, a.k.a. Tuffy. Nine-year-old Tuffy suffers from Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, a rare and catastrophic form of epilepsy. At one point, she was suffering from over 300 seizures a day, including 25-30 grand mal seizures. About a year and a half ago, Ricardo discovered that cannabis virtually eliminated the seizures, and since she has been a licensed patient, Tuffy's progress has been nothing short of miraculous. Unfortunately, the medical marijuana program in New Jersey is not only costly--$535 an ounce--it offers extremely limited resources for compassionate care, both in terms of education and treatment options. Please visit Tuffy's Go Fund Me page and at least read her story. http://www.gofundme.com/TuffysFight

Wake the F Up with Lank and Jaco: Joel Salatin-Polyface Farms

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Lank and I are starting the New Year proper. We are kicking off 2015 with a very special guest, Joel Salatin from Polyface Farms in Swoope Va. Check out their amazing story on how Alternative farming saved this waste land and turned it into a thriving, budding, beautiful farm land. Check out their story In 1961, William and Lucille Salatin moved their young family to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, purchasing the most worn-out, eroded, abused farm in the area near Staunton. Using nature as a pattern, they and their children began the healing and innovation that now supports three generations. Disregarding conventional wisdom, the Salatins planted trees, built huge compost piles, dug ponds, moved cows daily with portable electric fencing, and invented portable sheltering systems to produce all their animals on perennial prairie polycultures. Wake the F Up Express Podcast : Fart Bags For Cows: Methane Gas Harvesting

Argentina has more than 55 million cows, making it a leading producer of beef. In the study, the scientists were surprised to discover that a standard 550-kg cow produces between 800 to 1,000 liters of emissions, including methane, each day. Further, methane - which is also released from landfills, coal mines and leaking gas pipes - is 23 times more effective than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere. "When we got the first results, we were surprised," said Guillermo Berra, a researcher at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology in Argentina. "Thirty percent of Argentina´s (total greenhouse) emissions could be generated by cattle." In their study, the researchers attached balloon-like plastic packs to the backs of at least 10 cows. A tube running to the animals´ stomachs collected the gas inside the backpacks, which were then hung from the roof of the corral for analysis. The Argentine researchers say that the slow digestive system of the cows causes them to produce these large amounts of methane. Now, the scientists are performing trials of new diets designed to improve the cows´ digestion and reduce global warming. By feeding cows clover and alfalfa instead of grain, "you can reduce methane emissions by 25 percent," according to Silvia Valtorta of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Investigations. Wake the F Up with Lank and Jaco: Nutritionist Madelyn Moon

We welcome Madelyn Moon on the podcast to touch on the importance of health and nutrition. We had a lovely conversation. Madelyn runs a great podcast that you can find on Stitcher, I-Tunes and Instagram all under MindBodyMusings. My name is Madelyn Moon, and I’m the creator and host of the Mind Body Musings Podcast. I've had a lot of trial and error when it comes to health and fitness and like many, I've managed to wind up in some pretty disordered spots. When I was growing up in high school, I discovered vegetarianism. It started out as an ethical cause, helping the planet and whatnot, but soon (with my type-a and all-or-nothing attitude) I took it to the extremes. It turned into a weight management diet as I glided into college at the University of Arkansas. Around this time, I also discovered the treadmill. One night I had stayed up way passed my bedtime studying for an exam and after hours of endless cramming, I decided to push my body even further and go for a run. I ended up running to the gym and then running on the gym’s treadmill…for a full hour (7 miles). Proud of my new accomplishment, I made this a new standard for myself and decided I had to run a full hour on the treadmill every day or I “didn’t really get a workout in.” http://www.mindbodymusings.com/ @mindbodymusings

Wake the F Up Podcast: Express Cast : Sun Eaters-**(7:53)**

"Why do we watch the sunrise? Why do we concentrate on it? In order to learn to mobilize all our thoughts, all our desires, and all our energies, and to direct them toward the realization of the highest ideal. A person who works to unify the many chaotic forces that pull him in every direction and to project them in a single, luminous and salutary direction becomes such a powerful center that his presence, like the sun, is able to radiate through space. Yes, he who manages to control the tendencies of his lower nature can spread these blessings over the whole of humanity, and he becomes a sun. He lives in such freedom that he expands the field of his consciousness to include the entire human race, to which he sends the abundance of light and love that pour forth from him.
