We Are York

Janeen Berg, along with her husband Keith, started a gourmet popcorn store called GoodyPop in November of 2019. Despite many bumps in the road during their first year, GoodyPop has become a staple in the downtown York community. 

Erin Sams is a coordinator with the York County Health Coalition. On this episode she talks about what the coalition is, some of the programs available, and how people can receive help. 

Derek Dauel is a Development Coordinator for York County Development Corporation (YCDC). He works to better York County through various projects, with the majority of his time currently focused on housing. He has recently started a podcast, 17 County, where he has been interviewing people that have chosen to call York County home. Listen to this podcast to hear about why Derek chose to move to York, a little bit of his history and how he ended up at YCDC. 

Pat Eichinger purchased Baer's Furniture in 1983, and has continued to run a successful business in downtown York. He's raised his family in this great community, and continues to be a vital part of our successful York. 

Amanda Peterson grew up in York, raised her family here, and has recently started her business here. Peterson's Petal Company is a flower shop that has just celebrated their 1 year anniversary. 

Brent Madsen, along with Pete Crane, own Urgent Care of York. They started the location a little over 5 years ago and continue to provide care for the York community. They recently started offering family practice as a service. 

Abbie Rhodes started out baking cakes and cookies as a hobby, and it has grown into a successful business she operates.

Kirby Crawford is the owner of Kirby's School of Dance and Kirtsey's Boutique. Kirby's offers dance training in both York and Aurora. Kirby opened Kirtsey's Boutique on the square in York, to fill a need that the York community identified, women's apparel. 

Lonnie Berger owns the Wendy's franchise in York. He grew up in York, and had the opportunity to move back home to manage the location. Eventually, he got the opportunity to purchase the business, and has continued to run it ever since. He's had generations of York residents working for him, and currently has a 3rd generation employee working at his restaurant. 

In this episode I sit down with Jim Ulrich, CEO of York General. Jim took the reins over 3 years ago and talks about some of the changes he's helped make possible, including a new dialysis unit and a York General foundation. He talks about why he chose to call York home, and what he finds great about our community. Listen in to hear more about what York General is all about. 

Darrin Brumbaugh has been the representative for Northwestern Mutual in York for over 20 years. He works to help people better their future through a holistic approach to financial planning. 

Rachel began operating her photography business by taking pictures of her kids, grew it into a home studio, and has recently opened up a studio in downtown York. She grew up in York, and chose to move back and call York home to raise her kids. We hear about Rachel's passion as she talks about her journey into photography. 

Rod Woods is the owner of Patina Studios, formally Home 360, in York, NE. He provides various home and business remodeling services, including design and install. He offers various flooring, tile, cabinets, counter tops, and other products geared towards providing you the home of your dreams. 

This week I sat down with Don Freeman III from Agri-Products. He is the third generation to be employed with this family based company. Agri-Products is a company that focuses on developing ag based equipment, grain handling, and custom fabricating products to fit their customers' needs. Most recently, they've developed a prototype hemp harvester, called the Hempsker.  

In this episode I sit down with Max Lichti, co-founder of Lichti's TV in York. He started the business with his brother in 1965, and has grown it into what it is today. After having a fire in 2006, Max moved his business to it's current location, and has expanded and continues to be a large asset to the York community. 

In this episode I break the podcast down into two sections. I start off talking about why I started the podcast, and what I hope to get out of the podcast. The second half I interview Luke Fochtman about Henderson Health Care Foundation, and a fundraiser they're hosting. 

Ashley grew up in York County and went off to Columbus for college. Upon graduating she chose to move back to York to start a dress shop. Once Upon A Dream offers dress rentals for all types of events, along with the opportunity to buy dresses and offers dresses for consignment.  

Tony North is part owner of York Printing Company and North Office Supply. He graduated from York High School before moving to Denver. He then wanted to move back to York for a better quality of life. He started working in the family business and has helped continue to grow the companies and recently celebrated 50 years in York. Tony also is very active in serving in the community. He works hard to help better York County. 

This week I sat down with my first non-profit group, United Way of York. I interviewed Chrystal Houston, a board member with United Way, and she talked about all the charities they help fund in the York Community. I encourage you to listen until the end this week, as I issued a challenge to help the first non-profit group I've interviewed. 

In today's episode, I meet with Ellyn Hansen and talk about her business, Triple Crown Boutique. Ellyn is from York, celebrating a one year anniversary, two year business anniversary, and will be having a baby in the next month. She has been able to accomplish this, all while running a successful business working to provide the latest fashion trends to women at an affordable price.
