Episode 160 - Celebrations, Stories, and Lessons That Stick
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi recap a fun anniversary trip to Fernandina, complete with some truly delicious food and a few moments that were just too good not to share. From there, the conversation turns into a mix of funny reels they’ve been sending each other, classic Mom stories, and the latest adventures with HB that keep life interesting.
Along the way, they reflect on the life and legacy of Bob Tebow and the powerful lessons shared at his celebration of life, bringing a meaningful perspective into the middle of an otherwise lighthearted episode. They also dive into a bit of local history with Marineland and how it became such a unique part of Florida’s story.
It’s a blend of laughter, memories, and moments that remind you to enjoy life while paying attention to what really matters.

Episode 159 - Mother’s Day, Marriage, and Everything Lice
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi reflect on Mother’s Day and the many different ways women step into the role of being a mother. They also celebrate Hannah and Casey’s fifth wedding anniversary, sharing memories, perspective, and what they’ve learned along the way.
The conversation moves through stories that are both meaningful and unexpected, from bourbon with a story behind it to the impact of Isaiah 117 House and what it really looks like to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. There are family moments woven throughout, including Uncle Monte and his cast iron, HB’s hilarious take on Jesus riding in on a buggy, and a sweet reflection on daughters reusing their mother’s wedding dresses.
Somehow, they even find meaning in things like lice, reminding us that blessings don’t always come in the way we expect. And through it all, Jesus is at the center, showing up in both the big moments and the everyday ones.
It’s a heartfelt, funny, and faith-filled episode about love, growth, and the people and stories that shape us.

Episode 158 - A Little Chaos on Land and Water
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi share one story after another from a week that definitely kept them on their toes. It starts with Dad having a run in with a sliding glass door that ended exactly how you’d expect, with glass and a drink going everywhere, and somehow just builds from there.
They talk about time spent outside with music playing, HB learning to ride a dirt bike and becoming completely obsessed with cows, and a boat day that turned into a bit of an adventure thanks to low water, unexpected logs, and a few bumps along the way. There are also a few wildlife moments thrown in, including a snake sighting that no one asked for.
In between the chaos, they reflect on a message from Pastor Jeff about a mosaic and how easy it is to focus on one small piece without seeing the bigger picture God is putting together. They also share some lighter moments, like a visit to High Tides at Snack Jack, a quirky find called Si Como No Inn, and a trip to Ikea with the kids.
It’s funny, a little chaotic, and full of the kind of stories that somehow all come together in the end.

Episode 157 - Amelia Island, A Southern Wedding, and Mom Oversharing
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi recap a beautiful southern wedding weekend that Hannah and Casey attended, along with their time away in Amelia Island. From the fun rehearsal dinner theme to pond parties and all the little moments in between, it was the kind of weekend that leaves you with plenty to talk about.
They also catch up on Hannah’s new job and everything that comes with stepping into something new. And of course, it wouldn’t be a normal episode without Mom sharing a few stories… some from getting older, some from being younger, and all of them memorable whether Hannah was ready for them or not.
It’s a fun, story filled episode with a mix of laughter, real life, and the kind of moments you can’t make up.
01:01:23
Episode 156 - Fake Snakes, Fair Nights, and Family Finds
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi kick things off with a full blown moment of panic after thinking there was a snake in the cupboard. Thankfully, that turned out to be a false alarm, but it definitely set the tone for the rest of the episode.
From there, the conversation goes everywhere in the best way. Hannah shares her ongoing struggle with figuring out how to operate her car, along with an update on her upcoming root canal. They swap silly HB stories, talk about the fair both past and present, and even touch on parasites, because of course that came up too.
They also share a bit about Hannah’s new job and end on a surprisingly fascinating note, talking about how social media can be used to track down long lost family ancestry and the stories (and pictures) that come with it.
It’s one of those episodes that feels a little chaotic, a little funny, and very real.
56:15
Episode 155 - Free Hugs, Fearless Toddlers, and a Friend Who Becomes Santa
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi recap all the Easter festivities and everything that came along with them. From last minute cinnamon roll remakes to a filling Hannah had to get, it’s one of those episodes where life just keeps happening.
They share stories about HB’s latest fearless adventures, riding go karts, learning to paddle board, and generally keeping everyone on their toes, along with some truly funny moments, including a kid asking Mom for a free hug and a mix up involving a baby that definitely wasn’t Juli’s.
In between the chaos, there are conversations about family traditions, gas prices in Georgia (because of course), Mom’s eyebrows, and her belief that when you invest in joy, it somehow finds its way back to you. One of the sweetest moments is a story about a family friend who becomes Santa every year, reminding us how special it is when someone chooses to bring joy to others.
It’s funny, full of stories, and a little all over the place in the way that makes you feel like you’re right there in the middle of it all.
01:03:57
Episode 154 - From Holy Week to Holy Cow
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi start with a little housekeeping from last episode before diving into a big life update from Hannah. From there, the conversation shifts into Holy Tuesday, the meaning behind the fig tree, and the deeper significance of Easter and the resurrection.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a normal episode without a few unexpected turns. Hannah shares what it was like hosting trivia in an old casket factory, they talk about a meal that made them feel like they were living in a completely different tax bracket, and catch up on all the everyday things going on in their lives right now.
And just when you think the episode is wrapping up, it takes a meaningful turn with one simple but powerful question: do you remember your first real conversation with God?
It’s thoughtful, a little all over the place, and full of the kind of moments that stick with you.

Episode 153 - Two Kids at Church, One Farmers Market, and a Lot of Opinions
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi settle in for one of those conversations that goes a little bit everywhere - but somehow still feels just right. From Mom’s latest movie recommendations to the fun surprise of discovering new family members are listening to the podcast, it’s a mix of catching up and sharing life as it comes.
They swap childhood stories, talk about the adventures of doing church with two little ones, and reflect on Mom and Dad’s recent getaway to St. Augustine - including the farmers market at the amphitheater and a bit of its history. Along the way, Hannah throws out some surprisingly thought-provoking “would you rather” questions that spark some deeper conversation.
They even touch on the history behind phone swaying at concerts and how certain traditions stick around. It’s a warm, easygoing episode full of stories, laughter, and the kind of moments that feel small but mean a lot.
01:01:04
Episode 152 - Trains That Didn’t Come and Conversations That Did
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, it’s just Hannah and Barbi - and the conversation goes everywhere in the best way. What starts as a sweet attempt to take HB to watch trains (which… didn’t quite happen) turns into a wide-ranging, heartfelt, and sometimes hilarious catch-up.
They reflect on last week’s conversation with Scott and continue talking about Civil Rights and some of the movies that have opened their eyes in new ways. From there, they shift into deeper territory - talking about Jesus, true beauty, and the simple but powerful truth that we don’t earn Heaven; it’s a gift we receive through Him.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a “Mom and Hannah” episode without a few unexpected turns - like outdoor showers, finally getting the AC fixed, the correct way to use a blower, and their honest take on doing the carnivore diet (versus how they actually do it).
It’s thoughtful, practical, a little random, and full of real life - the kind of conversation that feels like you’re right there with them.

Episode 151 - The History of Jacksonville They Didn’t Teach You in School
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi welcome back historian, author, attorney, and master storyteller Scott Grant for another fascinating dive into the history of Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. Scott first joined the podcast in Episode 57 to share the remarkable story of the German U-boat attack off Jacksonville Beach during World War II, and this time he returns with even more powerful stories from our region’s past.
The conversation centers on the history of Axe Handle Saturday, one of the most significant and difficult moments in Jacksonville’s Civil Rights history. Scott walks through the events leading up to that day, the impact it had on the city, and the broader context of the Civil Rights movement locally.
Along the way, they explore the story of Schoolhouse Number Four, discuss the legacy of Gene Ribault, and travel even further back in time to figures like Pedro Menéndez and Dominique de Gourgues, whose actions helped shape the early history of Florida.
It’s a captivating episode filled with powerful history, surprising connections, and the kind of storytelling that brings the past vividly to life.

Episode 150 - Happy Home Habits and HB’s Demands
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
In this milestone 150th episode, Hannah and Barbi settle in for another honest, wide-ranging conversation about life at home and everything that comes with it. Barbi shares some of her “Happy Home Habits” - the small routines and mindsets that help keep a house running smoothly and peacefully. They also celebrate finally getting through Dad’s big track meet weekend (which may or may not have confirmed that they’re getting older).
Along the way, they swap stories about HB’s latest demands, the surprisingly uncomplicated process of getting a new military ID, and their thoughts on some of the popular “therapy words” that don’t always sit quite right with them. By reframing those ideas through pastoral language and faith, they find ways to understand them in a more meaningful way.
They also share a recipe for dirty carnivore chili, a few laughs, and the kind of everyday conversations that remind you home isn’t just a place - it’s the life you build together.

Episode 149 - The Only Time We Actually Talk Is on This Podcast
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi sit down to catch up… despite the fact that they literally live in the same house. Between running family business, prepping for Dad’s upcoming track meet, church commitments, health appointments, and general life chaos, the podcast has somehow become the only time they actually talk about anything meaningful.
They cover a little bit of everything - Hannah’s new car, MRIs, road-tripping, Lent, carnivore, leadership night at church, and why showing up for family just kind of happens naturally when you’re all in it together. They also unpack the generational obsession with fun drink cups (because hydration is apparently now a personality trait) and the surprising wisdom behind embracing singleness… even though neither of them is single.
With Casey out of town, Isla Mae makes frequent and adorable background appearances, because that’s just the season they’re in. The episode wraps with a surprisingly deep dive into why we cringe at our past selves - and whether that’s actually a sign of growth.
It’s busy. It’s layered. It’s slightly chaotic. But it’s very real.
01:07:06
Episode 148 - Did You Knows, Valentine’s Shows, and Life as It Happens
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi explore the meaning behind Presidents Day, sharing fun “did you know” facts and reflecting on the history behind the holiday. The conversation naturally shifts into more personal territory as they talk about Valentine’s Day, relationships, and how love shows up differently in each season of life.
They share stories from the past, reflect on meaningful memories, and laugh through some unexpected moments along the way. From thoughtful reflections to lighthearted tangents, this episode is full of heart, history, and the kinds of conversations that make you feel right at home.
58:30
Episode 147 - From Heart Straws to House Fires (Almost)
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi record from their brand-new home studio - and the episode feels just as lively as the setup. They chat about heart straws and fun drinks they’ve been making, delicious recipes Mom whipped up, and HB’s ongoing potty-training adventures (including what he didn’t do on the wall… but really wanted to).
Things take a dramatic turn when the oven malfunctions and literally melts its own handle off - a genuinely scary moment that had everyone on edge. Mom also bravely tattles on herself about a few almost-Karen moments, and they unpack some stress-filled Dollar Store run-ins involving E-bike kids.
It’s a classic, full-of-life episode: a little chaotic, a lot funny, and very real - just two women navigating family life, household surprises, and the everyday moments that somehow turn into the best stories.
01:00:15
Episode 146 - Pink Drinks, Punxsutawney Phil, and Falling Iguanas
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week’s episode covers everything from deeply serious to delightfully silly. Hannah and Barbi talk about the powerful and heartbreaking story of Elizabeth Smart before shifting gears into Groundhog Day and the legend of Punxsutawney Phil. From there, it’s cold weather talk, iguanas falling from trees, pink drinks, and spotting manatees in the springs.
They also dive into Florida headlines, including gold and silver being recognized as legal tender, share the hilarious (and unfortunate) story of Barbi getting gum stuck in her hair, and reflect on one of their videos unexpectedly going viral. It’s a true mixed-bag episode - full of conversation, curiosity, and classic bird walks that somehow all work together.
01:02:32
Episode 145 - Protein Bars, Flying Taxis, and the Heavy Stuff We Carry
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week’s episode covers just about everything - in true We Saved You a Spot fashion. Hannah and Barbi chat about carnivore eating and their love for Nick’s protein bars before shifting into a deeper conversation about the “green duffle bag” that holds the truly heavy things we carry through life. Barbi takes a moment to pray for everyone, leading into a thoughtful discussion about communal living across generations and the beauty (and challenges) that come with it.
From there, the conversation lightens with stories about two kids and one dad on a bike, the surprisingly delightful concept of hair perfume, and even the future of flying taxis. It’s a mixed bag of laughter, reflection, faith, and curiosity - the kind of episode that reminds you how meaningful everyday conversations can be.
01:06:23
Episode 144 - Big Beds, Big TVs, and Busy Seasons
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi talk about what life looks like right now - including Hannah and her family moving in with Barbi and Zane. They dive into the reality of sharing space, navigating busy seasons, and what it takes to keep friendships alive when life feels full. Barbi shares what it’s really like babysitting two littles (spoiler: it’s no joke), along with stories from birthday celebrations, household mishaps, and the infamous “frat room” setup at Mom and Dad’s house - complete with a bed and TV that might be a little too big for Barbi’s taste.
Add in a broken jar of honey and plenty of side stories, and you’ve got a cozy, funny, and very real episode about family, flexibility, and finding joy in the middle of the mess.
43:07
Episode 143 - Collard Greens, Cruises, and Co-Sleeping
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi ease into the new year with a thoughtful and easygoing conversation. They unpack the meaning behind different New Year traditions - from collard greens to grapes - and why those customs have stuck around for generations. Barbi shares stories from the cruise she just returned from, which naturally leads to conversations about travel, past trips, and the different ways they’ve both experienced life on the road.
They wrap things up with an honest discussion about the pros and cons of co-sleeping, sharing personal perspectives and real-life considerations for parents navigating those choices. It’s a well-rounded, relatable episode filled with reflection, storytelling, and the kind of conversations that feel just right for the start of a new year.
01:07:56
Episode 142 - Grandma Jann Leaves, Mom Goes Cruising, and Hannah Gives Us Hideous and Horrific History
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week’s episode is equal parts heartfelt and hilarious. Hannah and Barbi talk about Grandma Jann heading back to Washington (yes, they’re sad - and yes, they absolutely adore her), which somehow leads to Barbi explaining why she’s already writing Grandma Jann’s eulogy… proactively. Don’t worry - she’s very much alive.
From there, the conversation takes off (sometimes literally) with airport debacles, classic stories involving Uncle Monte, and a rapid-fire round of short Hideous and Horrific Hannah stories - real moments from history that sound too unbelievable to be true. As if that weren’t enough, Barbi is also gearing up to leave Hannah for a cruise, which is clearly unacceptable.
It’s a fun, story-packed episode full of family love, laughter, and the kind of tangents that make you feel like you’re right there with them.
56:34
Episode 141 -Twelve People, One Boat, and a Christmas Eve Story
Episode in
We Saved You a Spot
This week, Hannah and Barbi share the full story of their Cumberland Island adventure with all twelve of them in tow. They dive into the rich history of the island, the unforgettable boat rides from Fernandina to St. Marys and on to Cumberland, and the unexpected moment when the boat ran out of gas just as they made it back - thankfully drifting safely into another boat only yards away.
Along the way, they sprinkle in Christmas and Christmas Eve reflections, family memories, and plenty of laughs from a trip that could’ve gone very differently but ended up being one for the books. It’s a fun, story-filled episode packed with history, holiday warmth, and a reminder that sometimes the best memories come from the unexpected moments.
