Episode 13: Trained in the Storm — Discipline on the Road

🎙️ Episode 13: Trained in the Storm — Discipline on the Road In this episode of The Welcome Legacy Podcast, I talk about what really builds you. After about 150 hours of training on the road, my trainer told me I didn’t need to complete the full 200 hours. I was ready. But that readiness didn’t come easy — I trained in sleet, rain, and snow. I didn’t get perfect conditions. I got real ones. I break down what life on the road taught me — from meal prepping instead of eating junk at truck stops, to doing push-ups daily, walking 3–4 miles around truck stops after long driving shifts, and staying disciplined physically and mentally. I also share what it meant to have my 12-year-old ride with me and witness the grind firsthand, and how I used downtime in the truck to study for my real estate license while earning a living. This episode is about structure, discipline, fatherhood, and using pressure to sharpen you instead of break you. If you’re training in tough conditions right now, don’t quit. The storm might be preparing you faster than you realize. 📚 Books by James G. From Rock Bottom to the Open Road — How My CDL Changed Everything

🎙️ Episode 12: From Rock Bottom to the Open Road — How My CDL Changed Everything In Episode 12 of The Welcome Legacy Podcast, I pick up where Episode 11 left off and break down what rebuilding my life actually looked like in real time. After leaving my old environment, my family and I moved to Kissimmee in early 2019. During that season, I was searching for legal paths forward—joining a LegalShield marketing team, attending meetings, and even creating an online course called How to Fail Forward, teaching how to use failure as fuel while I was still living it. By October, I was already in communication with CareerSource and had started trucking school. In the middle of the process, my family moved, housing became unstable, and during my final week of CDL school in Dundee, we were told we had to leave due to having too many people in the home—11 total. I talk about attending TDI Trucking School in Sanford, staying in a hotel Monday through Thursday for three weeks, driving home on weekends, and finishing strong even after my wife and kids moved more than 100 miles away to Newberry. This episode covers getting my CDL, landing my first trucking job with J&R Schugel, life on the road, studying real estate while trucking, buying my first home in 2021, and earning my Realtor license in 2022. This is a story about discipline, sacrifice, and using a legal skill as a bridge to stability and ownership. If you’re under pressure, rebuilding your life, or trying to do things the right way for your family—this episode is for you. 👉 Like, Share, Subscribe, and comment what stood out to you.

I Was Addicted, License Suspended, and Stuck — How Discipline Led Me to My CDL In this episode of The Welcome Legacy Podcast, I tell the truth about a season of my life when everything felt lost. I talk about the role my grandmother played in my upbringing, the pressure of fatherhood, and the moment I realized I couldn’t keep repeating the same mistakes. This episode is about being stuck—and choosing discipline anyway. I share how my cousin pushed me toward getting my CDL, how I went on the road with him, studied, came back, and took the test. That decision became the turning point that helped me start rebuilding my life the right way. If you’re struggling, feeling trapped by your past, or trying to find a legal way forward, this episode is for you. Episode 2 Your Environment Can Raise You, But it Doesn't Have To Define You

Episode 2 “Before the Legacy: My Backstory and the Streets That Raised Me” "Your environment can raise you, but it doesn’t have to define you." I didn’t choose where I was born. I didn’t choose the struggles my family faced. But I did choose what I would do with those experiences. My surroundings shaped me—but they didn’t finish me. Everybody sees the change. The books. The business. The podcast. But what most people don’t know is what it took to get here. In this episode, I’m going back to the beginning—Ocklawaha, Florida, where it all started. I was raised by my grandmother and mother while my father was on drugs and in and out of prison. The neighborhood we lived in—Crack Hill—was a place most people didn’t walk through unless they had to. I saw things early that no kid should see. I felt pressure to grow up too fast. I’ll share: What life was really like in Crack Hill How I went from honor roll to hustling The impact my father’s absence—and presence—had on me The trauma I carried and didn’t even realize And how the survival skills I learned in the streets later became business skills—but at a heavy price This isn’t just about pain. It’s about the roots of resilience. If this episode connected with you, please like, share, and subscribe to The Welcome Legacy Podcast. Tell someone who needs to hear this. Episode 1 Why I Chose this Path and How Prison Shaped Me

Episode 1: Why I Chose This Path and How Prison Shaped Me Quote of the Day: "The only limit to your success is the belief that you cannot succeed No matter where you have come from, your mindset will determine where you go. I had to shift my belief about what was possible for my future, and that is what truly set me free. From prison to purpose. From hustling to healing. This is my real story. In this episode, I open up about my transformation — from being incarcerated and battling addiction, to turning my life around through prayer, goal-setting, walking miles, and self-discipline. I self-published my book, got my license back, earned my CDL, and studied for my real estate license — all while on the road. This is the raw truth behind my success, and it's just the beginning of The Welcome Legacy Podcast.
