Matthew 7:28-29 - The Authority of Jesus

Matthew 7:24-27 - Just as it was for Israel, so it is for us: “choose this day” (Josh 24:15). Will you be a wise or foolish builder? Is your life built on solid rock or shifting sand? Will the structure of your life stand?

Matthew 7:21-23 - The clear warning about self-deception is for our good. It is for our salvation. It is for our flourishing.

Matthew 7:15-23 - Today’s sermon text is tough! It is a sobering passage that contains a serious warning about the danger of deceit; deceit that comes from others and deceit that comes from ourselves. Jesus aims his words at the deceitful and the deceived. He demands we take an honest examination of our soul.

Matthew 7:13-14 - Jesus ends this sermon with simple and direct points of application. He brings us to a place where we have to make a choice; an eternally significant choice. Which way will you choose?

Matthew 7:12 - What Jesus commands in the Golden Rule can be summarized in a simple question that penetrates every part of our lives: What Would I Want?

Matthew 7:7-11 - If we will consider the truths in this passage and it's implications, then with God's help, we will be spending more time with the Lord in prayer and receiving the good gifts and answers to prayer that our good heavenly Father wants to give us.

Matthew 7:1-16 - There is danger in being judgmental.

Matthew 6:25-34 - In today’s passage, Jesus confronts anxiety, and being consumed by worry over what we think we need.

Matthew 6:19-24 - In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus is teaching us how to live the good life. So naturally that instruction will include a lesson in Kingdom economics. And like every other issue in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus goes straight to the heart, straight to our strongest passions, straight to the object of our worship.

Matthew 6:9-18 -

Matthew 6:7-15 - We are to love others, and the model prayer of Jesus shows us how to pray this way.

Matthew 6:7-15 - Few, if any of us, pray as we should. In today’s text, Jesus addresses this deep need in each of our lives.

Matthew 6:1-21 - The Sermon on the Mount is a description of and an invitation to the kind of life we were created to live – life in God’s Kingdom under the rule and reign of King Jesus. It is a flourishing life characterized by wholeness, completeness, a life fully oriented toward God. The Sermon on the Mount presents a picture of life in that Kingdom. Thus, the contents of the sermon are those issues that Jesus himself identified as essential to kingdom living.

Matthew 5:43-48 - There is nothing comforting, easy or natural about anything we’ve encountered thus far in our study, and the ‘sledge hammer’ of the Sermon on the Mount strikes hard again today, because there is nothing natural or easy about loving your enemies.

Matthew 5:38-42 - The standard of justice in Jesus’ day was the Old Testament teaching of “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”. Justice required retribution. Jesus steps in and gives us a fuller explanation of God’s intent and establishes a radical Kingdom ethic.

Matthew 5:33-37 - Jesus summarizes the first major portion of his Sermon on the Mount with this statement: You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48) The righteousness Jesus is requiring of his people is a wholeness and unity of our inner character that reflects that of our heavenly Father. Today’s passage cuts to the heart of our integrity. We are to be a people of wholeness, singleness and integrity in our speech, in our intentions and in our commitments.
