Binny’s Beverage Depot and Paulina Market bring the holiday cheer to make any festivity great

Kristen Ellis, Wine Education and Events Coordinator at Binny’s Beverage Depot, joins Roe Conn and Anna Davlantes to talk about finding the perfect wine for your holiday celebrations. Bill Begale, owner of Paulina Meat Market, supplies some great offerings to make go with Kristen’s holiday cheer. http://serve.castfire.com/audio/3250437/3250437_2016-12-15-190337.64kmono.mp3?ad_params=zones%3DPreroll%7Cstation_id%3D3785.mp3 Here are Kristen’s picks: Anna de Codorniu Brut Rose  $11.99 Elegance from a rare blend of 70% Pinot Noir. Bright color and persistent bubbles offers aromas of red cherry and strawberry. Balanced, with a creamy palate and a lively finish. Great at the start of the evening and more than appropriate for a toast. A perfect fit for any holiday party and is a steal at $11.99. Le Contesse GB02 Prosecco $9.99 Best value Prosecco. From the Italian region of Veneto, this prosecco is loaded with aromatic peach, melon, and honeysuckle. A round, rich mouthfeel with just a hint of sweetness enhances the stone fruit flavors. It really out performs for the money. Taittinger Cuvee Prestige $39.99 (on sale for $32.99) Go-to value Champagne. Savory, with brioche on the nose and bright orchard fruit in the background. On the palate white peaches and nectarines paired with fragrant orange blossoms. A lemony citrus note emerges with time, with a persistent vanilla harmonizing in the background. It’s got the structure, weight, and refreshing acidity to go with almost any food! Pierre Paillard Grand Cru Brut $39.99 Best Grower Champagne. Located in Grand Cru village of Bouzy, Paillard is unique because the grapes come from one village. The wine benefits from extended aging on the lees, but maintains a fresh, fruit-driven core. A broad and generous palate presents flavors of toasted bread, pear, and honey with a finish that lasts and lasts. It’s delicious. Krug Grand Cuvee $150.00 Best splurge Champagne. Krug amazes year after year and has earned its loyal following. A blend of more than 120 wines, a super complex nose offers dried fruit, marzipan, gingerbread, and citrus. The palate is supple, elegant, with flavors of almond, brioche, and honey. A true stunner and worth every penny. Villa Cortessi Moscato D’Asti $9.99 Best sweet sparkling. Pleasantly effervescent with a vibrant acidity that balances the light sweetness. Fragrant and aromatic with a nose of peach blossoms, honey, and nectarine. Ideally suited for sweeter foods with a bit of weight but its low alcohol easily turns this into a wine you can sip and enjoy all day.
