Ep 19: Self- Acceptance: In a World full of Unrealistic Standards

Episode in Wildly Worthy
In today's episode, we explore the concept of self-acceptance in a world of unrealistic standards. Amidst societal pressures and media-driven beauty standards, we explore cultivating self-compassion, self-acceptance, and embracing diversity.  Ultimately, this episode is here to reminds our listeners that they are worthy of love and acceptance just the way that they are, and together, we can challenge unrealistic standards and cultivate more loving acceptance towards ourselves, each other and humanity. Main points of discussion in this episode: Elle and Ella delve into recent inspirations, highs, and lows. In a world dominated by social media, beauty ideals, and societal pressures, embracing self-acceptance becomes a profound challenge. Reflect: Where are you on the self-acceptance scale (1-10), and why? The relentless pursuit of societal norms fuels negative self-perception through constant body comparisons. Embracing diversity, combating self-criticism, and finding supportive communities are pivotal. Navigating self-acceptance amid unrealistic standards is explored. Self-love hinges on self-acceptance; we can't love what we don't accept. Change should arise from worthiness, wholeness, and self-love at its core. Main points of discussion in this episode: Self-doubt questions our abilities, worth, and potential, but we're here to reclaim our power and rewrite the narrative. We explore the definition and origins of self-doubt, including past failures, negative feedback, comparison, and more. Self-doubt is a natural human emotion, and we discuss how to build self-awareness, challenge negative thoughts, and develop a positive mindset. How we generally deal with self-doubt: self-handicapping, overachievement, and imposter syndrome. Techniques to overcome self-doubt: challenging limiting beliefs, cultivating gratitude and self-appreciation, embracing authenticity, and celebrating uniqueness. 74% of people lack the confidence to ask for a promotion at work. Elle and Ella share their own personal experiences of self-doubt. Practical exercises: gratitude, affirmations, meditation, facing fear, visualisation, and identifying and challenging limiting beliefs. Reflection Questions to sit with: Have you started to notice or have been told that you’re sensitive to criticism?
